2. 2 Push the top of the oven glass towards the oven door ensuring the screw location holes line up 3 Hold the glass in place with one hand and insert the cross head screws into the location holes with the other hand Give the screws one turn to ensure the glass is secure 4 Tighten the screws positively with a Pozidrive screwdriver before closing the oven door Do not attempt to use the oven without the glass being in place 30 If the door glass panel becomes chipped or has deep scratches the glass will be weakened and must be replaced to prevent the possibility of the panel shattering Please contact your local Service Force Centre who will be pleased to advise further TO CLEAN THE INNER GLASS DOOR PANELS Clean the inner glass door panels using a soft cloth and hot water to which a little washing up liquid has been added If the inner panel is heavily soiled Hob Brite may be used Do not use abrasive cleaning materials on the door glass Ensure that all parts are well rinsed and thoroughly dried before attempting to replace the glass REPLACING THE OVEN LIGHT BULB The type of bulb required is a 300 C 25 watt small Edison Screw Part number 572 491 5431 00 1 Available through your local Service Force Centres CAUTION Disconnect the appliance from the electricity supply before replacing the bulb Open the door and remove the shelves to enable easy access to the oven light assembly Insert a flat blade screwdr

Cook Time l 91 indicator is illuminated Press the increase control until the required length of cooking time is displayed e g 2 hrs 15 mins as Fig 10 Depress the decrease control if necessary Release the buttons The Cook Time indicator l will illuminate and the time of day will be displayed after 5 seconds Set the oven temperature The oven indicator neon should be ON To check the End Time during the cooking period simply press the Selector Control button once and the remaining time will be displayed as Fig 11 TO CANCEL AN AUTOMATIC PROGRAMME To cancel an automatic programme press the Selector Control button until the Cook Time indicator l 91 neon flashes Press the decrease control until the display reads 0 00 as Fig 12 Release the buttons The Cook Time indicator gt will flash and after 5 seconds return to the time of day Turn off the oven control TO RETURN THE APPLIANCE TO MANUAL At the end of a timed cooking period the indicator neon will flash and an alarm will sound for up to 2 minutes To stop the sound press any of the three buttons as Fig 13 The display will return to the time of day Turn off the oven controls 14 El gt Fig 9 naa BO U aa do D U i O t SELECTOR DO O Elf D D Fig 10 El gt El gt Fig 13 SELECTOR I UD U x 10 15 do SELECTOR OO O coa aa YO o U UU do
4. before switching the oven ON Shelf positions are numbered from the bottom upwards When cooking more than one dish in the fan oven place dishes centrally on different shelves rather than cluster several dishes on one shelf this will allow the heat to circulate freely for the best cooking results When batch baking one type of food e g Victoria sandwich cakes those of similar size will be cooked in the same time e It is recommended that when baking larger quantities the shelf positions should be evenly spaced to suit the load being cooked A slight increase in cooking time may be necessary e DO NOT place baking trays directly on the oven base as it interferes with the oven air circulation and can lead to base burning use the lower shelf position The use of excessively high temperatures can cause uneven browning It may be necessary to reduce temperatures slightly Refer to the recommendations given in the oven cooking chart on page 24 OVEN COOKING CHART The oven temperatures are intended as a guide only It may be necessary to increase or decrease the temperature by 10 C to suit individual preferences and requirements FAN OVEN TOP OVEN FOOD SHELF COOKING SHELF COOKING APPROX POSITION TEMP C POSITION TEMP C COOK TIME m Biscuits 180 190 1 170 190 10 20 Bread Shelf 200 220 1 200 220 25 30 Bread rolls buns 200 220 1 200 220 15 20 Cakes Small 8 Queen 160 170 1 180 1
5. will operate manually 1 SET THE TIME OF DAY The oven has a 24 hour clock When the electricity supply is first switched ON the display will show 12 00 and the Time indicator neon will flash as Fig 1 To set the correct time press the increase control button EB and if necessary the decrease control button until the correct time on the 24 hour clock is reached e g 10 00am as Fig 2 The Time indicator neon will flash for 5 seconds and then go out Note The increase and decrease control buttons operate slowly at first and then more rapidly They should be pressed separately 2 HOW TO SET THE COUNTDOWN The Countdown gives an audible reminder at the end of any period of cooking This cooking period may be up to 2 hrs 30 mins It is not part of the automatic control To set press the Selector Control button until the Countdown indicator is illuminated gt the display reads 0 00 as Fig 3 To set the correct time duration depress the increase control until the display indicates the interval to be timed e g 1hr 45 mins as Fig 4 If necessary depress the decrease control 2 to achieve the correct time interval NOTE This must be completed within 5 seconds of first pressing the Selector Control button During the operation of the Countdown the remaining time period will be shown in the display The Countdown will sound intermittently for up to 2 minutes at the end of t

Bar Keepers Friend for removal of more stubborn soilage TO REMOVE BURNT ON SOILAGE We strongly recommend the use of a Ceramic Hob Scraper incorporating a single edge razor blade to remove spillage on the hob in particular sugar solutions which if not removed can cause permanent damage 1 Make sure the ceramic glass is cool 2 Use a ceramic hob scraper with care at an angle of 30 to remove as much soilage as possible 3 Use Bar Keepers Friend or Hob Brite to finish off as directed above TO REMOVE DISCOLOURATIONS OR WHITE AND SILVER MARKS These marks sometimes give the impression of being in or underneath the hob glass They can almost always be removed provided they have not become excessively burnt on Follow the instructions above under To Remove more Stubborn Marks If this is unsuccessful make up a paste of one part water to three parts Cream of Tarter and leave on the discoloured areas overnight The marks should be easily removable the next day provided they have not been excessively burnt on The paste should be thoroughly washed off afterwards HINTS AND TIPS TO REDUCE HOB SOILAGE Make sure the bottom of the saucepan and the cooking area are clean and dry before cooking begins e Ensure saucepans are large enough to accommodate food to avoid boil overs e If possible wipe up spills and splatters as they occur but take care to avoid steam burns e Avoid using a dishcloth or sponge

8. marks from saucepans with aluminium bases Metal marks can be easily cleaned off providing they are not allowed to burn Cr oF on ont X sota Y e Follow any guidelines provided by the saucepan manufacturer particularly those relating to recommended heat settings e Avoid using thin badly dented or distorted saucepans Those with uneven bases should not be used 11 dt X si 1104 X To prolong the life of the hotplates Never use utensils with a skirt e g a bucket Never use an asbestos mat Never leave the hotplates ON when not covered with a saucepan Ensure that the hob and saucepans are clean and dry before the start of cooking to reduce cleaning e Follow the cleaning instructions very closely to keep the hob looking like new e If spillage occurs with sugar solutions e g jams and syrups it must be wiped from the hob before it sets and becomes hard otherwise damage to the hob will occur DEEP FAT FRYING SPECIAL FRYING NOTE For safety purposes when deep fat frying fill the pan one third full of oil DO NOT cover the pan with a lid and DO NOT leave the pan unattended In the unfortunate event of a fire switch the cooker OFF at the electricity supply and cover the pan with a lid or damp cloth to assist in smothering the flames DO NOT use water on the fire Leave the pan to cool for at least 30 minutes before moving it DO NOT leave the fat or oil in the frying pan on th
9. of any kind are used e Slight discolouration and polishing of the Stayclean surfaces may occur in time This DOES NOT affect the Stayclean properties in any way e A good time to allow the oven to run on is after the weekly roast After removing the roast turn the oven up to 220 C and allow to run for an hour or so It is important NOT to allow a build up of soilage as this can prevent the Stavclean surfaces from working 29 e Follow the recommendations below to keep oven soilage to a minimum e Cook at the recommended temperatures Higher temperatures during roasting will increase soilage Try cooking at lower temperatures for an increased length of time you will save energy and often the joint is more tender e Use minimal if any extra oil or fat when roasting meat potatoes only require brushing with fat before cooking Extra fat in the oven during roasting will increase splashing and soilage e It is not necessary to add water to a meat tin when roasting The water and the fat juices from the joint create excessive splattering during cooking even at normal temperatures as well as causing condensation e Covering joints during cooking will also prevent splashing onto the interior surfaces Removing the covering for the last 20 30 minutes will allow extra browning if required Some large joints and turkeys especially benefit by this method of cooking allowing the joint to cook through before the outside is over bro
10. put in place correctly Refer to instructions on pages 20 and 22 Never line any part of the appliance with foil Do not allow heatproof cooking materials e g roasting bags to come into contact with oven elements Always stand back from the appliance when opening the oven door to allow any build up of steam or heat to release Never leave the appliance unattended when the oven doors are open Do not place sealed cans or aerosols inside the oven They may explode if they are heated Do not leave the hotplates switched ON for long periods when not covered by a saucepan The controls may overheat Ensure that all control knobs are in the OFF position when not in use For hygiene and safety reasons this appliance should be kept clean at all times A build up of fats or other foodstuffs could result in a fire especially in the grill pan GENERAL Do not leave utensils containing foodstuffs e g fat or oil in or on the appliance in case it is inadvertently switched on Cookers and hobs become very hot and retain their heat for a long period of time after use Children should be kept well away from the appliance until it has cooled Under no circumstances should any repairs be carried out by an inexperienced person as this may cause injury or serious malfunction This appliance should be serviced by an authorised Service Engineer and only genuine approved spare parts should be used Details of repai

OL KNOBS FROM THE APPLIANCE AS THIS MAY CAUSE DAMAGE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD CLEANING THE GRILL AND OVEN FURNITURE All removable parts except the grill pan handle can be washed in the dishwasher The grill pan grill pan grid and oven shelves may be cleaned using a soap impregnated steel wool pad Soaking first in hot soapy water will make cleaning easier CLEANING INSIDE THE OVEN AND GRILL COMPARTMENTS The top sides and back of the grill top oven compartment and main oven compartments are coated with a special Stayclean coating The Stayclean surfaces inside the ovens should not be cleaned manually See below Care of Stayclean Surfaces The vitreous enamel in the grill top oven base and the main oven base can be cleaned using normal oven cleaners with care Ensure that the manufacturers instructions are followed and that all parts are well rinsed afterwards Aerosol cleaners must not be used on the Stayclean surfaces and must not come into contact with the elements or the door seal as this may cause damage CARE OF STAYCLEAN SURFACES Stayclean surfaces destroy splashes of food and fats when the oven temperature is raised to around 220 C It is a good idea to run the oven for an hour or two per week to ensure continued good performance from the Stayclean finish HINTS AND TIPS Manual cleaning of the Stayclean surfaces IS NOT recommended Damage will occur if abrasives or aerosol sprays

RNING Do not stare at the hob elements in the same way that you would not stare at other bright lights or the sun RECOMMENDED SAUCEPANS For speed and economy only good quality saucepans with flat bases and close fitting lids are recommended The saucepan base should be approximately the same size as the cooking area a base diameter of up to 225mm 9 may be used on a 180mm 7 heated area Ensure that new saucepans are well scrubbed to remove edges and take off any deposits left from manufacture Pressure cookers preserving pans etc should comply with the recommendations given above Traditional round bottomed Woks must not be used even with a stand Woks with flat bottomed bases are available and do comply with the above recommendations 16 NOTE Occasionally the heated areas may be seen to switch ON and OFF when higher heat settings are being used This is due to a safety device which prevents the glass from overheating Some switching ON and OFF when cooking at high temperatures e g deep fat frying is quite normal causes no damage to the hob and little delay in cooking times Excessive switching may however be caused by the use of an unsuitable saucepan or a saucepan which is smaller than the heated area If excessive switching occurs discontinue use of the saucepan HINTS AND TIPS e Lift rather than slide saucepans on and off the heated areas This will reduce the risk of scratches and metal

28. gularly wipe away condensation and also soilage from surfaces For your safety wallcoverings at the rear of the appliance should be securely fixed to the wall THE COOLING FAN FOR THE CONTROLS The cooling fan operates immediately when the grill or top oven is switched on It may run on after the controls are switched off until the appliance has cooled Note The action of the cooling fan will depend on how long the top oven or grill have been used and at what temperature It may not run on where the grill or top oven has been used for a short time or at low temperatures Do not switch the appliance off at its power point until the cooling fan has cooled the appliance down CONTROL PANEL INDICATOR NEONS These lights indicate whether the ovens are switched on The neons also indicate when the set temperature has been reached They will turn on and off during use to show that the temperature is being maintained If the neons do not operate as the instructions indicate the controls have been incorrectly set Return all controls to zero and re set following the instructions for the required setting When the oven has been set for automatic cooking the neon will remain unlit until the cooktime begins COOKWARE Baking trays oven dishes etc should not be placed directly against the grid covering the fan at the back of the oven Do not use baking trays larger than 30cm x 35cm 12 x 14 as they will restrict the circula

45. wned CLEANING THE DOOR GLASS To prevent damaging or weakening the door glass panels avoid the use of the following e Household detergents and bleaches e impregnated pads unsuitable for non stick saucepans e Brillo Ajax pads or steel wool pads e Chemical oven pads or aerosols e Rust removers e Bath Sink stain removers CLEANING BETWEEN THE OUTER AND INNER DOOR GLASS The outer door glass is removable for cleaning TO REMOVE THE OUTER GLASS 1 Open the oven door slightly to gain access to the two cross head screws on the top of the oven door 2 Loosen the two screws using a Pozidrive screwdriver 3 Hold the door glass securely in place with one hand before removing the screws completely with the other hand 4 Using both hands gently tilt the top of the door glass towards you lift slightly to disengage the locators from the two bottom brackets 5 Clean the outer and inner glass using hot soapy water or Hob Brite cleaner may be used with care DO NOT use Hob Brite on the Stainless Steel or painted finishes DO NOT try to clean the foil which is inside the door The foil is there to help keep the door cool if it is damaged it will not work Ensure that all parts are well rinsed and thoroughly dried before attempting to replace the outer door TO REPLACE THE OUTER GLASS 1 Holding the oven glass with both hands gently place the locators into the holes of the brackets at the bottom of the oven door
