Tip If Auto Progressive is selected the picture may flicker or be distorted when the unit switches between progressive and interlace modes This is not a malfunction of either the PDR 155 or the TV If your TV does not switch between 4 3 and 16 9 change the aspect ratio of the TV to 4 3 Alter natively set Component Video in the Setup window to Interlace or Auto Progressive If you select Auto Progressive 4 3 discs will be played in Interlace mode while discs that are recorded in both 4 3 and 16 9 will play in interlace mode during the 4 3 sections and in progressive mode during the 16 9 parts Switch your TV s aspect ratio to the most suitable setting for more details see the manual that came with your TV Notes e If you connect a TV that is not compatible with a progressive scan signal and you choose progressive scan mode you will not be able to see any picture at all If your TV is con nected via the composite or S video connectors choose Interlace for Component Video e This function only works with NTSC format DVDs Customizing the Function Settings Switching the S video output Expert You can switch the type of S Video signals output from the S Video connector If you have connected your TV using an S Video cable in rare cases the TV picture may appear stretched In such cases switch the output from S2 to S1 Video1 TV Screen 16 9 Wide S2 i

9. 40 Turning on the PDR 155 Before plugging in the PDR 155 Make sure that all connections explained on pages 27 39 are complete the connection to the TV is required Turning on the PDR 155 may cause a momentary power surge which might interfere with other electrical equipment such as computers If this happens connect the power cable to a wall out let on a different circuit Note Depending on the country in which you purchased your controller the power cord plug may be different to that shown here The remote controller buttons used in the following step are illustrated inside a gray rectangle i 3 a gt OSTAN DBY Lights up STANDBY ON 3 PDR 155 Plug the subwoofer SWA 155X into an AC outlet Note The shape of the power cord plug may vary depend ing on the area Connect the included power cable to the AC INLET on the PDR 155 s rear panel and plug the cable into a home AC outlet e Do not use any power cables other than the included power cable Also do not use the included power cable for other equipment e To avoid risk of electrical shock do not connect or disconnect the power cable from the PDR 155 s AC INLET while the cable is still plugged into the AC outlet Press STANDBY ON on the PDR 155 or press ON on the remote controller to turn on the power to the PDR 155 The display and indicators on the PDR 155 ligh
