9. he direction of rotation Slide the revers ing switch to the left for clockwise rota tion or to the right for counterclockwise CAUTION 1 ot DE Reversing switch e Always check the direction of rotation before operation e Move the reversing switch only after the tool comes to a complete stop Changing the direction of rotation before the tool stops may damage the tool Overload protector The overload protector automatically cuts out to break the circuit whenever heavy work is prolonged Wait 20 30 seconds before resuming operation CAUTION Always withdraw the tool from the workpiece before resuming operation If the tool cannot be withdrawn hold the tool firmly when turning on the tool to overcome a strong reaction Adjusting fastening torque ree The fastening torque can be adjusted in six Drill marking stages by turning the adjusting ring so that the pointer on the adjusting ring points to a number on the tool body The fastening torque is minimum when the pointer points to the number 1 and maximum when it points to the marking The clutch will slip at varying torque levels when the pointer is set at the numbers 1 to 5 The clutch is designed not to slip at the ev marking Before actual operation drive a trial screw into your material or a piece of duplicate material to determine which torque level is required for a particular application NOTE The adjusting ring cannot be locked with the p
10. lled dry CAUTION e Pressing excessively on the tool will not speed up the drilling In fact this excessive pressure will only serve to damage the tip of your bit decrease the tool performance and shorten the service life of the tool e There is a tremendous force exerted on the tool bit at the time of hole breakthrough Hold the tool firmly and exert care when the bit begins to break through the workpiece e A stuck bit can be removed simply by setting the reversing switch to reverse rotation in order to back out However the tool may back out abruptly if you do not hold it firmly e Always secure small workpieces in a vise or similar hold down device 10 MAINTENANCE CAUTION Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the battery cartridge is removed before attempting to perform inspection or maintenance To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY repairs maintenance or adjustment should be performed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service Centers always using Makita replacement parts 11 ACCESSORIES CAUTION These accessories or attachments are recommended for use with your Makita tool specified in this manual The use of any other accessories or attachments might present a risk of injury to persons The accessories or attachments should be used only in the proper and intended manner e Bits e Drill bits Tested best in Makita driver drills for smooth fast drill 784214 0A 784215 0A Phillips in
11. mes the charging light will not come on If this occurs let the cartridge cool off for a while Then re insert it and try to charge it once more e When you charge a new battery cartridge or a battery cartridge which has not been used for a long period it may not accept a full charge This is a normal condition and does not indicate a problem You can recharge the battery cartridge fully after discharging it almost completely a couple of times e If you wish to charge two battery cartridges allow 15 minutes between chargings on the fast charger Reset button 7 Installing or removing driver bit or drill bit CAUTION Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the battery cartridge is removed before installing or removing the bit Hold the ring and turn the sleeve counter clockwise to open the chuck jaws Place the bit in the chuck as far as it will go Hold the ring firmly and turn the sleeve clockwise to tighten the chuck To remove the bit hold the ring and turn the sleeve counterclockwise Switch action Tool speed is increased by increasing pres sure on the trigger To start the tool simply pull the trigger Release the trigger to stop CAUTION Sleeve Tighten Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool always check to see that the switch trigger actuates properly and returns to the OFF position when released Reversing switch action This tool has a reversing switch to change t
12. nserting the battery cartridge If the cartridge does not slide in easily it is not being inserted correctly Charging Battery Plug the fast charger into your power cartridge source Insert the battery cartridge so that Charging light the plus and minus terminals on the bat tery cartridge are on the same sides as their Start button respective markings on the fast charger Insert the cartridge fully into the port so that it rests on the charger port floor Press the start button red The charging Fast charger light will come on and charging will begin E If the charging light does not come on press the reset button yellow first then the start button red If the charging light goes out within 10 seconds even after pressing the reset button and start button a couple of times the battery cartridge is dead CAU TION Wait for more than 5 seconds after the charging light goes out to press the reset button again Replace it with a new one When the charging light goes out after about one hour you may remove the fully charged battery cartridge After charging unplug the charger from the power source CAUTION e Your new battery cartridge is not charged You will need to charge it before use eDo not keep the button pressed in with tape etc or the circuit will not function pro perly Also a malfunction of the charger may result possibly causing overheating etc e f you try to charge a cartridge from a just operated tool someti
