Connecting Your Components Continued Connecting a CD Player Step 1 Choose a connection that matches your CD player EJ or EJ and then make the connection COAXIAL m O phl 32 COAXIAL OPTICAL AUDIO OUT OUT oun CD player Connect one or the other e With connection EJ you can listen to and record audio from the CD player and listen in Zone 2 To connect the CD player digitally use connection J or BY For Zone 2 use E and EY or EY and fy Connection AV receiver Signal flow cD al CD IN L R Analog audio L R output b DIGITAL COAXIAL IN 2 Digital coaxial output ic DIGITAL OPTICAL IN 3 Digital optical output Connecting a Turntable The AV receiver s PHONO IN is for use with a moving magnet MM type cartridge Use an analog audio cable to connect the AV receiver s PHONO IN L R jacks to the audio output on your turn table Notes e If your turntable has a ground wire connect it to the AV receiver s GND screw With some turntables con necting the ground wire may produce an audible hum If this happens disconnect it e If your turntable has a moving coil MC type car tridge you ll need a commercially available MC head amp or MC transformer Connect your turntable to the head amp or transformer and connect that to the AV h receiver s PHONO IN L R j

Insert the plug fully into the jack Once your AV receiver is ready for use you ll need to tune into an FM radio station and adjust the position of the FM antenna to achieve the best possible reception 2 Use thumbtacks or something similar to fix the FM antenna into position Caution Be careful that you don t injure yourself when using thumbtacks If you cannot achieve good reception with the supplied indoor FM antenna try a commercially available out door FM antenna instead see page 21 Connecting the AM Loop Antenna The supplied indoor AM loop antenna is for indoor use only 7 Assemble the AM loop antenna inserting the tabs into the base as shown OQ 2 Connect both wires of the AM loop antenna to the AM push terminals as shown The antenna s wires are not polarity sensitive so they can be connected either way around Make sure that the wires are attached securely and that the push terminals are gripping the bare wires not the insulation Push Insert wire Release N ul Lh ANTENNA Once your AV receiver is ready for use you ll need to tune into an AM radio station and adjust the position of the AM antenna to achieve the best possible reception Keep the antenna as far away as possible from your AV receiver TV speaker cables and power cords If you cannot achieve good reception with the supplied indoor AM loop antenna try using
