23. size of the resulting data also increases and the number of images that can be captured decreases To compensate for this this digital camera is able to compress the data This digital camera uses JPEG compression If JPEG compression is used when the image is played back an extremely small portion of it is lost The higher the compression rate the more of the original image is lost Therefore in the still image mode this digital camera also allows you to store image data at extremely low compression to ensure that a minimum of the original image is lost This is the FINE mode Since the image data is large when the FINE mode is used compared to compression the digital camera requires more time both to store the data after the shutter release button is pressed and to display the image in the playback mode 51 English English 52 CHANGING THE SHOOTING SETTINGS How to use the manual focus 1 Select the manual focus icon MF from the focus menu and press the SET button 2 Press the SET button e The focus distance adjustment bar appears 3 Use the 4 and gt arrow buttons to adjust the focus distance and press the SET button The focus distance is fixed and you are returned to the Shooting Screen NOTE About the focal length e The indicated focal length is that as measured from the lens surface e There may be somewhat of a disparity between the focal length numerical value that is set
