Figure 4 SS Support isa tees Holes Tube Clevis Pin Bell Washer Click Pin Sasi Bracket Assembly Place the grasscatcher cover assembly in position so that the support tube rests on the right side of the mounting bracket assembly Allow the plastic cover to rest in the open position See Figure 4 Figure 5 e Attach the grass bags using the slots shown in Figure 5 Close the grasscatcher cover Attaching the Discharge Chute e Raise the deck to its highest position e On older models Remove the clip if already installed on the deck next to the discharge chute opening by removing the lock nut spring washer and hex bolt that secure it See Figure 6A Cutting Se Lock Deck Spring amp ore A Hex Bolt Grasscatcher Pin Deck B ea Nut Figure 6 e On older models A grasscatcher pin G in Figure 1 and nut H in Figure 1 have been supplied in the hardware pack Attach these to the deck in place of the clip just removed Follow Figure 6B for order of assembly Make sure to secure the pin tightly e Raise the chute deflector on the deck and hold it while you position the discharge chute over the chute opening e Place the top rear edge of the discharge chute over the top rear edge of the chute opening2. e Push down on the discharge chute so that its front bottom edge rolls over the bottom of the deck then slide the chute forward to the stop on the deck See Figure 7 NOTE The retainer strap is fitted at position B on the discharge chute However on older models of tractors you may have to change the position of the strap depending on the location of the grasscatcher pin on the deck Remove the retainer strap from position B on the discharge chute to position A or C corresponding to the position of the grasscatcher pin at A B or C on the deck See Figure 7 Retainer Strap Figure 7 Place the deck at its lowest position Lock the discharge chute in position by hooking the retainer strap over the grasscatcher pin on the deck See Figure 7 for the pin position Raise the deck back to its highest position Insert the curved end of chute tube into the hole in the grass bag cover See Figure 8 Insert chute tube here Place the lower end of the chute tube over the discharge chute so that the two notches on the chute tube fit into the two corresponding notches on the discharge chute See Figure 9 Retainer Figure 9 Secure by clipping the two retainer straps of the discharge chute to the pins on the chute tube See Figure 9 Attaching Blades Model 190 678 only Remove the blades from your tractor s cutting deck as follows Remove the cutting deck from beneath the tractor refer to Deck Removal in the

Service Safe Handling Of Gasoline 1 To avoid personal injury or property damage use extreme care in handling gasoline Gasoline is extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive Serious personal injury can occur when gasoline is spilled on yourself or your clothes which can ignite Wash your skin and change clothes immediately a Use only an approved gasoline container b Never fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck or trailer bed with a plastic liner Always place containers on the ground away from your vehicle before filling c When practical remove gas powered equipment from the truck or trailer and refuel it on the ground If this is not possible then refuel such equipment on a trailer with a portable container rather than from a gasoline dispenser nozzle d Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container opening at all times until fueling is complete Do not use a nozzle lock open device e Extinguish all cigarettes cigars pipes and other sources of ignition f Never fuel machine indoors g Never remove gas cap or add fuel while the engine is hot or running Allow engine to cool at least two minutes before refueling h Never over fill fuel tank Fill tank to no more than Y inch below bottom of filler neck to allow space for fuel expansion Replace gasoline cap and tighten securely j If gasoline is spilled wipe it off the engine and equipment Move unit to an

6. amp OPERATION NOTE References to LEFT RIGHT FRONT and REAR of the tractor are from the operator s position Before assembly place the tractor on a firm and level surface disengage the PTO stop the tractor engine and set the parking brake Mounting Bracket Assembly NOTE For convenience pivot the seat forward and leave it in that position until the grass collector is fully mounted and assembled Remove the hairpin clip and clevis pin from the rear of the mounting bracket assembly Position the hooked ends of the bracket assembly to the outside of the hitch plate and over the shoulder bolts See Figure 2 Bracket 7 Hitch Plate Mounting l Si n y Figure 2 Reinsert the clevis pin through the aligned holes in Bolt both the bracket assembly and the hitch plate and secure with the hairpin clip See Figure 3 Q Q SS yoi Hairpin Clip gt Figure 3 Align these holes IMPORTANT There are two holes in the clevis pin Be sure to insert the hairpin clip in the upper hole to properly secure the bracket assembly to the hitch plate Attaching the Grasscatcher Cover and Bags e Slide the support tube down through the holes in the left side of the mounting bracket assembly Use the inside hole on the bracket assembly regardless of what size deck your tractor is equipped with See

Maintenance section of your tractor s operators manual for detailed instructions then gently flip the deck over to expose its underside Place a block of wood between the center deck housing baffle and the cutting blade to act as a stabilizer See Figure 10 Use a 15 16 wrench to remove the hex flange nut that secures the blade to the spindle assembly See Figure 10 Hex Flange Nut oe wa Wood piock Spindle Assembly Figure 10 A Open cover NOTE The hex flange nut has a right handed thread pattern Do NOT attempt to force the nut in the incorrect direction Doing so may damage the nut and create a safety hazard Attach the new blades from the bagger kit as follows e Install the new blades packed with the bagger Be sure to install the blade with the side of the blade marked Bottom or with a part number stamped in it facing the ground when the mower is in the operating position e Mount the smaller of the three blades to the center spindle The remaining two blades are interchangeable IMPORTANT Use a torque wrench to tighten the blade spindle hex flange nut to between 70 foot pounds and 90 foot pounds e Re mount the cutting deck Operation e Open the grass bag cover by lifting the cover up as shown in Figure 11A Do not remove the chute tube assembly from the tractor e Remove the grass bags by lifting these up and moving the bags away from the support tube assembly See Figure 11B e T
