If the VERTIGO ANIMATION option is greyed out load a valid After Effects project and select a composition 4 Specify the OUTPUT FILE PATH in which you want to save the animation or video file a Click the Browse button to open the EXPORT ANIMATION dialog box b Navigate to the directory location where you want to save the animation or video file c Inthe FILE NAME field specify the name by which the file is to be saved d Select from the SAVE AS TYPE drop down list the desired animation or video clip file type The suffix at the end of the file name defines the type of file to be exported Choose one of the following file types OXTEL OXI FILE oxi Exports an animation file for Intuition Classic devices default OXTEL OXA oxa Exports an animation file for Imagestore and LGK devices VERTIGO ANIMATION FILE vaf Exports a video clip file for Intuition XG and Vertigo XG devices MATERIAL EXCHANGE FORMAT mx Exports a video clip file for HMP 1801 devices e Click SAVE Select the OPTIONS button to expose advanced options which specify how the animation or video file will be created including desired looping behaviors See Export Options panel on page 2 3 for more information Launch the creation of the animation or video file by clicking OK The EXPORT VERTIGO ANIMATION dialog box closes while the EXPORT PROGRESS dialog box appears and tracks the progress of the procedure Once finished

The first time that you run the After Effects Plug in you will be prompted for a license code Please contact our Technical Support representative to request an After Effects Plug in license code V NOTE When running Adobe After Effects and the Vertigo After Effects Plug in on Windows 7 you must be logged on as Administrator 1 2 After Effects Plug in User Manual 2 VERTIGO ANIMATION OPTION The Vertigo After Effects Plug in s VERTIGO ANIMATION option is the basic mode that uses the currently loaded After Effects project to generate an animation or video clip file The resulting file can then be saved to a specified directory as one of the following formats OXI OXA VAF or MXF The following sections provide instructions for using the VERTIGO ANIMATION option as well as descriptions of each of the Export options that are available Using the Vertigo Animation option on page 2 2 e Export Options panel on page 2 3 After Effects Plug in User Manual Vertigo Animation option Using the Vertigo Animation option To use the Vertigo Animation option to generate an animation or video clip file 1 Start the Adobe After Effects application 2 Loadorcreate a new After Effects project 3 Select the FILE gt EXPORT gt VERTIGO ANIMATION menu command The EXPORT VERTIGO ANIMATION dialog box appears which allows you to select the output file path and the type of file to be exported V NOTE
5. the file is saved to the specific directory location After Effects Plug in User Manual Vertigo Animation option Export Options panel The Export Options panel allows you to specify how the OXI OXA or VAF files will be created As well the Logging tab allows you to record the plug in s rendering activities into a log file Note that any changes made to the Export Options panel s settings are saved so they only need to be modified as required The Export Options panel is organized into three 3 thematic tabs OxTEL EXPORT VAF EXPORT and LOGGING The following sections identify and describe the options on each of the Export Options panel s tabs e Oxtel Export tab on page 2 4 e VAF Export tab on page 2 6 e Logging tab on page 2 8 After Effects Plug in User Manual 2 3 Vertigo Animation option Oxtel Export tab The Oxtel Export tab figure 2 1 exposes a series of advanced settings which affect the way in which the After Effects Plug in renders OXI and OXA animation files based upon an After Effects project Export Options Oxtel Export VAF Export HMP MXF Export Logging Export as Fields Compositions Only M Video Standard NTSC 720x486 v Frame Rate For TGA Sequences on Disk Pixel Aspect Ratio Widescreen 16x9 Embed VAF in OXI Don t embed VAF Thumbnail frame 0 Looping Loop Mode Single Shot Start Frame End Frame Clipping Clip frames

Browse button Ed to navigate to and select the directory in which to save the output files EXPORT TO XMS SERVER NAME IP Enable and then type either the Xmedia Server s hostname or the IP address of the XMS device where the output files will be ingested into Enable OVERWRITE EXISTING FILES ASSETS if you wish to automatically replace an existing video file that may already exist using the exact same name in the exact same location Select the OPTIONS button to expose advanced options which specify how the animation and video files will be created For example you can specify your After Effects Plug in User Manual 3 13 Vertigo Animation Merge Mode option animation s looping settings See Export Options panel on page 2 3 for more information 8 Toensure that the animation files are generated correctly you can preview the animation before you generate the files To preview an animation a Clickthe PREVIEW button and the EXPORT VERTIGO ANIMATION dialog box expands to expose the MERGE PREVIEW section b To preview each of the animations that will be created in the merge process click the or gt buttons or use the a slider to scrub through the animation c If you choose not to process any of the animations press the REJECT button Rejected is then displayed in the lower right corner of the Merge Preview section and when the batch process is started this animation will not be generated 9 Create the animation and

Key garbage level 0 Figure 2 1 The Oxtel Export tab The following table provides descriptions for each of the parameters on the Oxtel Export tab Export as FIELDS COMPOSITIONS ONLY When set to FIELDS each frame from the After Effects project is split into two fields in the final animation FRAMES When set to FRAMES each frame becomes either an individual field when creating an interlaced file or a whole frame in a progressive standard When outputting to a progressive standard this setting will be ignored and each frame will always be treated as a frame Video Standard Specifies the resolution format that will be used when the animation file is rendered Choose from the following settings PAL 720x576 NTSC 720x486 720p 1280x720 1080i 1920x1080 1080p 1920x1080 After Effects Plug in User Manual Vertigo Animation option Frame Rate for TGA Sequence on Disk The frame rate option for TGA sequences dictates the frame rate that will be written into the animation file Since there is no way to store a frame rate with a TGA sequence it must be specified manually in this parameter The possible settings are dependent upon the Video Standard specified PAL 25 e NTSC 30M e 720p 60 60M 50 e 1080i 30 30M 25 e 1080p 60 60M 50 Pixel Aspect Ratio Specifies the Pixel Aspect Ratio format that will be used when rendering the animation Choose from the fol

10. animation files for Imagestore 750 and LGK 3901 devices vaf VAF video clip files for Intuition XG and Vertigo XG devices mxf MXF video clip files for HMP 1801 devices 7 NOTE The After Effects Plug in can also embed a VAF inside an OXI or OXA file by enabling a setting within the Oxtel Export Options in Merge Mode This allows the asset to be used on Intuition Classic Intuition XG and Vertigo XG devices See Embed VAF in OXI on page 2 5 The Affects Effects Plug in consists of two 2 options for rendering graphics files from an After Effects project Vertigo Animation The VERTIGO ANIMATION option is the basic mode that simply uses the currently loaded After Effects project to generate and save the After Effects project as an animation or video file See page 2 1 for further instructions and information Vertigo Animation Merge Mode The MERGE MODE option allows you to prepare multiple versions of graphics by using traffic data from an Excel spreadsheet to feed an Adobe After Effects Project template The plug in then combines the data and the template to generate multiple versions of the promo as animation or video files for different channels days and times In addition to creating animation and video files Merge Mode also allows you to output an Intuition template with the newly created animation inserted based on an original Intuition template Another practical use of the Merge Mode option is to transcode

18. aphic elements audio Figure 3 1 Workflow for pre rendering in show promos using the After Effects Plug in 1 Graphics templates are created using Adobe After Effects on a graphics workstation equipped with the Vertigo After Effects Plug in The full range of After Effects text effects can be used for the graphics because they will be flattened before playout 2 The operator opens an Excel spreadsheet from the traffic or promo department which lists the details about the promos required including the template to be used the on air dates and times and the show names The file names are also provided for effective integration with the station s playout automation 3 The Vertigo After Effects Plug in extracts the data from the spreadsheet and creates a preview of the rendered graphics for quality control 4 After quality control the workstation automatically renders all of the promos and generates flattened files 5 The completed graphics are then transferred to a Vertigo Xmedia Server for archiving or directly to a channel branding processor for playout under automation 3 2 After Effects Plug in User Manual Vertigo Animation Merge Mode option Using the Merge Mode option to perform a batch export of graphics files To use the Vertigo Animation Merge Mode option to generate a batch export of animation and or video clip files from an After Effects project 1 Create a base template for the graphics using the
