2. bags away from rats birds and pets Handling Compost Important Just like composts mulches and fertilisers that you can purchase from your local nursery or garden supplier the composted material from your machine should be treated with the same care as these also contain micro organisms The following HEALTH WARNING applies e When handling compost you should avoid breathing its dust or mists e Wear a particulate mask if it is dusty e Wear gloves and keep the product moist when handling e Wash your hands immediately after use a i los y CLOSED e LOOP 1 9h LOVE WHAT YOU DO Cleaning amp Maintenance Cleaning To clean the Organic Food Composter e Turn the unit off and unplug from electrical outlet before cleaning e Scrape excess residue from the inside tank walls using a plastic scraper or spatula e Do not remove compost from below the minimum level of the horizontal paddle shaft e Use soapy water and a damp cloth to wash down the outside Do not use flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline benzene acetone or paint thinner to clean the machine Checking The Hose It is advisable to occasionally check that the exhaust hose Is clear to allow composting vapours mainly water vapour and carbon dioxide to vent to the outside e Turn the unit off and unplug from electrical outlet e Open the lid and clean the exhaust vent with a brush e Check that the cap is not blocked by residue lint

10. gee i Minimises odours Exit point for vapours and moisture Air Intake Hole Max Indication Line Once composted food waste reaches this level you should follow procedures to remove some of the compost Composting Tank Durable anti corrosive stainless steel tank protects against corrosion ae Horizontal Paddle Shaft The horizontal paddle shaft marks the minimum compost level You should not remove compost below this level Paddles These mix the food waste and help speed up the composting process Important Safety Instructions ATTENTION As with all electrical appliances serious Injuries or fatal accidents can occur if the following instructions are not followed Close supervision is required when using the unit near children Do not carry out any maintenance or repair work other than that shown in this user guide Keep children from climbing onto or jumping into the unit Do not spray water onto the outside of the unit Do not operate the machine outdoors on wet surfaces or near water Do not place heavy materials or sharp objects onto the Do not handle the plug electrical power cord or unit with wet hands Check to ensure your electricity supply is properly earthed and corresponds to that shown on the rating plate and this manual If the paddles inside the decomposition tank continue to rotate with the lid open unplug the unit immediately and c

12. me Use Ensure the unit is on a stable surface and the exhaust hose Is properly connected Empty the two bags of organic starter material into the tank Pour 2 litres of cold or warm tap water into the tank Plug the unit into the power supply and turn on at the wall Close the lid The power indicator will be illuminated Leave the starter material to establish itself for at least 24 hours before putting in any food waste The unit will take approximately 1 2 weeks to reach its normal operating efficiency Start gradually adding only up to 1kg of food waste per day in the first week Gradually increase amounts per day in the second week up to 2 kgs per day From there on gradually increase up to full capacity of up to 4kg per day eed lt lt z CLOSED ene LOOP E ho LOVE WHAT YOU DO Using Your Food Organics Composter How To Use The Food Composter e Ensure the unit is plugged in and switched on at the wall e Simply open the lid pour the food in and close the lid again You can do this whenever and as often as you wish You do not need to wait for food to finish composting before topping up e Once the lid is closed the unit will automatically continue operation Over time the paddles will rotate the unit will heat up and the fan will operate automatically to help accelerate the composting process The unit may emit steam during this time when the lid is opened What You Can Compost Basically you can compost an

16. steel part of the unit s tank Remove some compost when the amount of compost reaches this line Horizontal Paddle Shaft Do NOT remove compost below this shaft Using The Compost In Your Garden Take care when applying the composted material to your garden It is mildly acidic and contains salt compounds Material directly from your Organics Unit is not a growing medium in its own right therefore should not be planted in directly Generally the material is comparable in strength to poultry manure and as such should be treated similarly Spread at a low rate and Incorporate well into soil For direct use spread around a bmm layer per square metre and dig in to around 5 10cm of the top layer of soil The addition of lime at a rate of 1kg per square metre would also be beneficial if the soil is not naturally high in pH gt 7pH Alternatively the material can be incorporated with garden organic waste for further composting A mix of 30 50 material from the Organics Unit with other materials dry leaves and grass clippings etc would be suitable You should also note that composted material may contain seeds that may sprout in your garden Storing Compost Compost can be stored in plastic or nylon bags in a cool dry location away from direct sunlight for up to 2 3 years Ensure the compost is free of excess moisture before placing into bags Punch a few holes in the bag to allow moisture to escape Keep the
