12. ort Distributor This section describes how to e Connect the VM 4DP see Section 6 1 e Acquire the EDID information see Section 6 2 6 KRAMER SIMPLE CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY Using the VM 4DP 1 4 DisplayPort Distributor 6 1 Connecting the VM 4DP 1 4 DisplayPort Distributor To connect the VM 4DP as illustrated in Figure 2 do the following 1 Connect a DP source for example a computer graphics source to the DP INPUT connector 2 Connect the DP output connectors to up to four DP acceptors for example displays 3 Connect the power cord to the mains electricity not shown in Figure 2 Turn ON the POWER on the rear panel 5 Acquire the EDID see Section 6 2 Display Port Display Computer Port Graphics gt gt ource z Display Display Display Display Figure 2 Connecting a VM 4DP 1 4 DisplayPort Distributor 1 Not all the outputs need to be connected 7 Upgrading the Firmware 6 2 6 2 1 6 2 2 Acquiring EDID The VM 4DP initially operates with the default EDID This means that you can turn ON the power before connecting any of the acceptors or the source You can acquire the EDID from e The default EDID see Section 6 2 1 e A connected output see Section 6 2 2 Acquiring the Default EDID To acquire the default EDID do the following 1 Press the SELECT button as required to reach a disconnected output The selected output LED blinks 2 Press the READ button
