ES Scan to e mail The MFP allows you to deliver your scanned document to e mail addresses on the network The document is first scanned and converted to a standard PDF JPEG TIFF or MTIF Multi page TIFF file format and then transmitted to remote recipients simultaneously as an e mail attachment When you send an e mail to someone using this MFP it uses Simple Mail Transfer Protocol SMTP to transfer your outgoing Configuring your machine gt 29 e mails to your SMTP mail server and then send these e mails to your recipients through the internet Scan to FTP Via the intranet with FTP File Transfer Protocol HTTP Hypertext Transfer Protocol or CIFS Common Internet File System The MFP allows you to save scanned documents directly to a designated server or a personal computer on the network in a standard PDF JPEG TIFF or MTIFF file format CIFS is the sharing system of Microsoft Windows What is unique about this filing function is that it allows all corporate users to share one machine to send documents to each file folder on a designated server or individual computer The following settings or destinations must be defined by the system administrator before the MFP can be used to distribute any scanned document s on the network e Network and E mail parameters Defines the parameters for TCP IP SMTP and POP3 protocols to send your scanned document to e mail addresses e Filing destinations Defines the proto

K Simulation CMYK input These profiles describe the CMYK device whose colors you are trying to simulate Typically this would be another manufacturer s printer or an offset printing press Profiles are already built in to the MFP for commercial printing press inks such as SWOP or Euroscale Printer CMYK Output This profile describes the color characteristics of your own MFP The MFP already has factory default profiles built in but you can replace these profiles with your own if required Link Profile This is a special type of ICC profile that converts directly from CMYK to CMYK For example a link profile could convert directly from the CMYK space of another printer to the CMYK space of your MFP GRAPHIC PRO WORKFLOW OVERVIEW There are three steps to using the Graphic Pro color matching system 1 Gather or create ICC profiles see below 2 Download ICC profiles to the MFP hard disk page 192 3 Select the ICC profiles in the printer driver when printing page 193 A guide to printing gt 191 STEP 1 GATHER OR CREATE THE ICC PROFILES Where can I get the profiles I need PROFILE WHERE TO GET PROFILES TYPE RGB Source Obtain your RGB source profiles from your scanner camera RGB Input or monitor manufacturer CMYK Obtain the simulation profile from the manufacturer of the Simulation printer you wish to simulate CMYK input Printer The factory default

L MFP WILL NOT ANSWER THE TELEPHONE OR RECEIVE FAXES First check to see that the power cord is connected properly Also check the reception mode setting of the machine This MFP will not receive faxes automatically if the manual receive mode is enabled See Manual receive on page 63 DOCUMENTS RECEIVED ARE LIGHT OR HAVE VERTICAL STREAKS ON THEM AND MFP IS NOT OUT OF TONER Gently wipe the lens surface of the MFP s LED array and then check to see if the machine is working properly See Clean the LED head on page 128 If the MFP still does not work properly remove the image drum See Image drum replacement on page 114 tap the toner cartridge and slowly swing it 20 to 30 degrees vertically several times Be careful not to let the toner leak from the cartridge If this does not work the image drum unit may need to be replaced Contact your supplier to get a replacement MFP IS SET FOR DELAYED TRANSMISSION BUT IT DID NOT SEND Check the display to make sure that the MFP is set to the correct time and date See Initial set up on page 57 Troubleshooting gt 153 MFP WILL NOT POLL A REMOTE MACHINE Call the person at the remote machine and make sure that they have loaded documents and that their machine is set to polling transmission mode MFP Is CONNECTED TO A PBX BUT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO DIAL OUT Be certain that the dial prefix is entered before the telephone number for each number dialled or program

Note Access to this menu is password restricted ITEM CHOICE DESCRIPTION Job Log ENABLE DISABLE Prints a list of jobs carried out on this MFP EXPLANATION OF FILING PROTOCOLS FTP FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol Itis a common method of transferring files via the Internet from one computer to another FTP use RFC 959 FTP as their protocol Therefore ensure you Configuring your machine gt 54 have a legal FTP account with the privilege of writing under the directory to save the files and password before using FTP to save documents To add a sub directory from the MFP you need to have the privilege of adding a new directory HTTP HTTP use RFC 2616 HTTP 1 1 as their protocol and the default Port is usually 80 If you are not using the HTTP port to save files you must change the MFP HTTP Port to the port for the Web Server Generally speaking a Hyper Text Transfer Protocol HTTP Web Server will use an anonymous account for authentication so that the user can link directly to the web page without entering the user name and password first Therefore if the HTTP Server does use an anonymous account for authentication when you use this MFP to save files there is no need for setting any text in the field of Login name and Password for the MFP On the other hand if the HTTP server does not allow an anonymous account for authentication of connection to the web page the user will be prompted
