Figure 7 Vertical Concentric Termination Single Kit 1 4 6 Sidewall Vent Termination DIRECT VENT TWO PIPE Sidewall direct vent applications shall be vented as follows Both the inlet and exhaust terminations should normally be located on the same plane side of the building The exhaust outlet is to be placed so as to reach 24 minimum above the down turned intake to avoid intake re ingestion of exhaust gases Better Boilers It is extremely important to maintain at least the minimum separation of exhaust vent termination from boiler intake air as illustrated in figures 5 8 and 13 Failure to do so can result in a dangerous situation where exhaust gasses are re ingested with combustion air Damage to the boiler can result from a failure to maintain these separations Improper installation will void the warranty In areas of high snowfall Users must be advised to check side wall vent and air intake terminations on a regular basis to ensure blockage does not occur DC SERIES COMBI BOILERS DC 23 84 DC 29 106 DC 33 124 DC 33 160 The elevation of both pipes can be raised in periscope style after passing through the wall then configured as in Figure 8 to gain required clearance Use a 45 elbow on the exhaust termination to launch the plume up and off the sidewall for protection of wall Bird screen of 1 4 stainless steel or plastic mesh eg IPEX System 636 drain grate for
2. IBC DC Boiler Primary loop circulator built into Heat Migration on secondary loops that extend vertically to a load that that is above the primary loop steps must be taken such as fabricating a thermal trap in the piping minimum 18 46cm drop to prevent thermal siphoning and heat Domestic migration to the load when there is no demand for Water heat to that loop Alternatively use check valves on both supply and return of secondary piping Thermostatic Tempering Valve Field Supplied Figure 25 Basic Primary Secondary piping with closely spaced tees concept concept drawing This drawing is only a simple schematic guide We recommend water flow after burner shutdown to utilize legacy heat this is significant due to the mass of the heat exchanger The boiler pump is under the control of the boiler to allow pump purge after burner shut down Default software values will run the boiler s pump for 1 minute after the burner shuts down Schematics for several piping layouts are provided herein and additional drawings are available at www ibcboiler com Installers shall conform the piping design to one of the provided configurations to simplify the control application promote good loads and flow management Propylene glycol solution is commonly used in a closed loop where freeze protection is required Its density is lower than that of water resulting in lower thermal performance at a given flow and pressure As
3. 3 2 PRIOR TO START UP 3 2 1 Pre Ignition Checks Fill trap with water before 1 Fill condensation trap Ensure venting system is complete and seal tested boiler is first fired to prevent Confirm any common venting system at the installation site is isolated and exhaust fumes from entering independent of the DC boiler that any holes left from removal of a previous room Never operate the boiler have been sealed and that any resizing of the old flue has been done boiler unless the trap is filled 2 Check water piping system is fully flushed and charged and that all air has with water been discharged through loosened bleed caps Use a minimum water pressure of 12 psig and confirm pressure relief valve is installed and safely drained Failure to comply will result in severe personal injury or Check to see that adequate gas pressure is present at the inlet gas supply death test port With the boiler gas valve shut off open the test port using a small 1 8 or 3 mm flat screwdriver open the test port by turning its center screw 1 full turn counterclockwise Connect a manometer and open the gas control A DANGER valve Requirements are minimum 5 w c and maximum 14 w c Check to ensure no gas leaks Making adjustments to the IBC gas valve without a properly calibrated gas combustion analyzer and by persons who are not trained 3 2 2 Test Ignition Safety Shutoff and experienced in its use is forbidden Failure to use an analyze

5. Standard Comfort and ECO Comfort Modes Standard Mode both LEDs are off The boiler s heat exchanger will not maintain its domestic hot water temperature between demands for hot water This the most energy efficient mode but will result in the Cold Water Sandwich Effect The boiler will respond to a call for domestic hot water as a priority over the space heating demand When the domestic hot water demand is satisfied the boiler will return to the space heating load if the load is still calling Comfort Mode the bottom LED is on The boiler s heat exchanger will maintain the pre programmed temperature set in parameter n or as set for the Tankless hot water temperature This is the least efficient mode but does offer the most consistent hot water delivery temperatures This temperature will be the minimum temperature of the heat exchanger at all times unless the boiler is heating a low temperature load ECO Comfort Mode the top LED is on This mode operates like the Comfort Mode but has the added advantage of learning when the domestic hot water is used During the low use periods the boilers heat exchanger is allowed to cool This mode is the most practical of the three options To toggle between the 3 modes simply press the Domestic Hot Water Comfort Eco s button ADDING DOMESTIC HOT WATER STORAGE 2 5 1 Tankless Domestic Hot Water with a Storage Tank The DC series boiler has the ability to connect a domestic h

7. eliminating the cold sandwich effect when turning on and off the water repeatedly The domestic hot water operation can be set to operate in 3 different ways Standard Mode The boiler responds to a call for domestic hot water when a faucet is opened After the faucet is closed the boiler shuts down and waits for a call for the faucet to open Comfort Mode After the faucet is closed the boiler will maintain the programmed domestic hot water temperature so that the next time the faucet is opened hot water is delivered to the faucet immediately without the Cold Water Sandwich effect Eco Comfort Mode As above the boiler will maintain the programmed domestic hot water temperature but based on a learned pattern the boiler will allow the water to cool For example during the night the boiler will see no flow of domestic hot water therefore will allow the boiler to cool down each night If hot water is required at night the boiler will respond to an open faucet just as if it was in the Standard Mode While the DC Series boiler is less susceptible to lime scale build up than other units on the market water quality must always be considered when installing the boiler Treating hard water and adjusting the pH to 6 5 and 7 5 is strongly recommended As a reference Table 6 represents some of the drinking water guidelines published by the US EPA Consult a water treatment advisor in your area to assess your local needs Proper water trea
