For small systems with less than 10 platforms A train that is posted can be appended with a quick remark in 5 simple steps assuming that Wise is displaying the Today list For example if the desired remark is number 9 eg Cancelled and if the train for the remark is on platform 3 Press 3 Press F12 Press 9 Press Enter Press ESC Details for selecting and editing remarks are discussed in section 3 7 2 3 Operational Details 3 1 General Wise is a timetable driven data base system linked to display drivers for an integrated timetable information system Wise uses a Graphical User Interface GUI to allow a simple visual approach to controlling the data base and displays MS Windows provides this GUI The text and style of GUI used has been specially selected in consultation with users to be clear and easily read for a wide range of use If you are unfamiliar with Windows or PC s in general it is recommended that you first read chapter 6 on Basic Principles Wise uses a hierarchical menu structure with each of 5 main buttons stemming from the Main menu form Each main menu button opens another form and in some cases these allow further descent into more detailed forms or display screens 3 1 1 System Principles Wise is based on the original BR2240 specification which determines that the data base is configured in days The Off Line menu contains the Master Files Each master file is valid for a specific ty

12. e Press the ESC key to store contents and close the window To abandon changes press the keys or click the Abandon button Tip If you are selecting a train from the status panel see section 2 3 above you should proceed as follows 1 Select the train at a given platform for edit by clicking the time headcode This will move the highlight bar in the Train List as previously described 2 Press the Enter key to bring up the edit box or click the Edit Icon 2 6 Quick Remarks To add a quick remark to a train 1 Select the train highlight the train as above Press the F12 key or click the Remarks Icon The remarks form shown hear will appear with a list of available remarks 2 Select a remark This can be achieved quickly by pressing the first number of the remark For fast single key press remarks only the first 9 remarks are available 3 Press the Enter key Once a remark is selected pressing the Enter key is the equivalent to clicking the INSERT button to insert the remark Note If desired the insertion point for the remark can be changed first by using the Up amp Down keys on the keyboard 7 to reposition the editing cursor within the train record 4 Press the ESC key Only press the escape key once you have confirmed that the remark is placed as required c QSL Version amp Details as per front page Page 12 RCIS Customer Information System Operators Manual Tip

RCIS Customer Information System Operators Manual Once the CIF extraction process is complete the SWOB file is extracted into Wise compatible file records SWOB Extractor Progress Box The SWOB extraction program will display the SWOB SWOB Extractor Progress MER Extraction Progress form This will show a continuously The SWOB file being extracted in to the selected master directories updated mimic screen resembling a CRT display similar Please to one shown below Once started the extraction should not need to be stopped However in extreme emergencies it is possible to stop the SWOB extraction by pressing the escape key The content of the display is purely an indication that the SWOB extraction is progressing normally PLAT 1 111 Once extraction has finished the form will close Directories 22 to 28 inclusive contain the daily extracted records All records for each day of the week are deposited into these directories with the exception of CIF tomorrow files Date specific extracted directories have the start and end date entered for the date on which they are to be used As previously stated in the 5 2 2 CIF Extraction Properties Form the year can be disable or enabled depending on whether CIF data is to be automatically loaded into Wise during the nightly extraction process The image above shows the year disabled to prevent automatic loading into the Today l
