1. Rear Roller Adjustment Bolts Roller Guards RIGHT SIDE SOLUTION a If the walking belt has shifted to the left first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn the left rear roller adjust ment bolt clockwise and the right bolt counterclock wise 1 4 of a turn each Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is centred b If the walking belt has shifted to the right first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn the left rear roller adjustment bolt counterclockwise and the right bolt clockwise 1 4 of a turn each Be careful not to over tighten the walking belt Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few min utes Repeat until the walking belt is centred c If the walking belt slips when walked on first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the allen wrench turn both rear roller adjust ment bolts clockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is correctly tightened you should be able to lift each side of the walking belt 2 to 3 inches off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centred Plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened PROBLEM THE WALKING BELT SLOWS WHEN WALKED ON b

Pivot the treadmill until the frame guide and the foot rail are past the storage latch 2 Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands and lower the treadmill to the floor To decrease the possibility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight 11 Storage Latch Frame Opened HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill unplug the power cord Caution You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds 20 kg in order to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the treadmill with your hands in the locations shown at the right To decrease the possibility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight As you raise the treadmill make sure to lift with your legs rather than your back Raise the treadmill about halfway to the vertical position 2 Move your right hand to the position shown at the right and hold the treadmill firmly Raise the treadmill until the storage latch locks over the frame guide Make sure that the storage latch closes fully over the frame guide Storage Latch To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the stor age position in temperatures above 34 C HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill convert the treadmill to the storage position as described above Make sure that the stor

To cause further stretching of the achilles tendons bend your back leg as well Stretches Calves achilles tendons and ankles 4 Quadriceps Stretch With one hand against a wall for balance reach back and grasp one foot with your other hand Bring your heel as close to your buttocks as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for both legs Stretches Quadriceps and hip muscles 5 Inner Thigh Stretch Sit with the soles of your feet together and your knees out ward Pull your feet toward your groin area as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Quadriceps and hip muscles 15 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES A WARNING before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physician This is especially important for individuals over the age of 35 or individuals with pre existing health problems The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program Remember these are general guidelines only For more detailed exercise informa tion obtain a reputable book or consult your physi cian EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity The proper intensity level can be found by using your heart rate as a guide The chart below shows recom mended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exer cise To find the proper h
6. can display distance and speed in either kilometres or miles See HOW TO SELECT KILOMETRES AND MILES on this page When the power is turned on the console will automat ically scan through five different modes A flashing mode indi cator will show which mode is currently displayed The five modes are described below Mode Indicator Speed This mode shows the speed of the walking belt O Time This mode shows the elapsed time Note If you stop exercising for ten seconds or longer the time mode will pause KM Distance This mode shows the total distance you have walked or run since the key was inserted F 4 Fat Calories This mode shows the approxi mate number of fat calories you have burned See FAT BURNING on page 14 amp Calories This mode shows the approximate number of calories you have burned If desired the display can be reset by pressing the on reset button DI Turn off the power To turn off the power simply wait for about six minutes If the walking belt is not moved and the on reset button is not pressed for six minutes the power will turn off automatically HOW TO SELECT KILOMETRES AND MILES The console can display distance and speed in either kilometres or miles To change the unit of measure ment first UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Next remove the six screws attaching the console to Console the console Screws base Lift the console a few inches being careful

8. on a level surface with 8 feet 2 m of clearance behind it Do not place the treadmill on a surface that blocks any air Openings To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill indoors away from mois ture and dust Do not put the treadmill in a garage or covered patio or near water Do not operate the treadmill where aerosol products are used or where oxygen is being administered Keep children under the age of 12 and pets away from the treadmill at all times The treadmill should not be used by persons weighing more than 250 pounds 115 kg Never allow more than one person on the treadmill at a time Wear appropriate exercise clothing when using the treadmill Do not wear loose clothing that could become caught in the treadmill Athletic support clothes are recom 10 11 12 13 14 15 mended for both men and women Always wear athletic shoes Never use the treadmill with bare feet wearing only stockings or in sandals When connecting the power cord see HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD on page 7 plug the power cord into an earthed circuit No other appliance should be on the same circuit When replacing the fuse an ASTA approved BS1362 type should be fitted to the fuse carrier a 13 amp fuse should be used If an extension cord is needed use only a 14 gauge cord of 5 feet 1 5 m or less in length Keep the power cord away from heated sur f

12. aces Never move the walking belt whilst the power is turned off Do not operate the treadmill if the power cord or plug is damaged or if the treadmill is not working properly See BEFORE YOU BEGIN on page 4 if the tread mill is not working properly Never start the treadmill whilst you are stand ing on the walking belt Always hold the handrails whilst using the treadmill The treadmill is capable of high speeds Adjust the speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps in speed drawings below Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Hamstrings back of knees and back 2 Hamstring Stretch Sit with one leg extended Bring the sole of the opposite foot toward you and rest it against the inner thigh of your extended leg Reach toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for both legs Stretches Hamstrings lower back and groin 3 Calf Achilles Stretch With one leg in front of the other reach forward and place your hands against a wall Keep your back leg straight and your back foot flat on the floor Bend your front leg lean for ward and move your hips toward the wall Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times for both legs
13. age latch is locked fully over the frame guide 1 Hold the upper ends of the handrails Place one foot on one of the front wheels as shown 2 Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the front wheels Carefully move the treadmill to the desired loca tion Never move the treadmill without tipping it back or the base pads may come off To reduce the risk of injury use extreme caution whilst moving the tread mill Do not attempt to move the treadmill over an uneven surface 3 Place one foot on the base and carefully lower the tread mill until it is resting in the storage position 10 Closed OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PERFORMANT LUBE WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE a high performance lubricant IMPOR TANT Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform They will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD This product must be earthed If it should malfunction or break down earthing provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment earthing conductor and a earthing plug Plug one end of the cord into the treadmill Plug the power cord into an appropriate outlet that is prop erly installed and earthed in accordance with all local codes and ordinances A DANG ER Imprope
14. eart rate for you first find your age on the left side of the chart ages are rounded off to the nearest ten years Next find the three numbers to the right of your age The three numbers are your training zone The lower two numbers are recom mended heart rates for fat burning the higher number is the recommended heart rate for aerobic exercise Fat Burning To burn fat effectively you must exercise at a relatively low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses easily accessible carbohydrate calories for ener gy Only after the first few minutes does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the speed and incline of the tread mill until your heart rate is near one of the lower two numbers in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular sys tem your exercise must be aerobic Aerobic exercise is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time This increases the demand on the heart to pump blood to the muscles and on the lungs to oxygenate the blood For aerobic exercise adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill until your heart rate is near the higher number in your training zone HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HEART RATE To measure your heart rate stop exercising and O Y place two fingers Gr on your wrist as shown Take a s

16. eg 55 as described above b Make sure that the power cord is plugged in c Remove the key from the console Reinsert the key fully into the console With the help of a second person carefully raise the treadmill to the upright position so the Base Legs PROBLEM THE DISPLAYS OF THE CONSOLE DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY 55 are resting flat on the floor d If the treadmill still will not run please call our Customer Service Department SOLUTION a Check the batteries in the console If the batteries need to be replaced see assembly step 6 on page 6 Most problems are the result of drained batteries b Remove the six screws from the hood Carefully remove the hood Locate the Reed Switch 8 and Top View O the Magnet 14 on the left side of the Pulley 5 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 3 mm If necessary loosen the Clip Screw 9 and move the Reed Switch slightly Retighten the Screw Re attach the hood and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading 2 Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands and lower the treadmill to the floor To decrease the possibili ty of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight 12 5 3 Carefully rotate the Console Base 45 to the posi tion shown Secure the Console Base with two Console Base Bolts 91 two Co
17. he console make sure that the power cord is properly plugged in See HOW TO PLUG IN THE POWER CORD on page 7 In addition make sure that batteries are installed in the console See step 6 on page 6 If there is a thin sheet of clear plastic on the console remove it Step onto the foot rails of the treadmill Next find the clip attached to the key see the drawing above Slide the clip onto your waistband Follow the steps below to operate the console 1 Insert the key fully into the power switch Inserting the key will not turn on the dis play The display will turn on when the on reset button is pressed or when the walking belt is started Note If you just installed batteries the display will already be on Reset the speed control and start the walking belt Turn the speed control counterclockwise until it stops at the RESET position Note Each time the walking belt is stopped the speed control must be turned to the RESET position before the walking belt can be restarted Next slowly turn the speed control clockwise until the walking belt begins to move at slow speed Carefully step onto the walking belt and begin exercising Change the speed of the walking belt as desired by turning the speed control To stop the walking belt step onto the foot rails and turn the speed control to the RESET position E Follow your progress with the monitor modes Note The console
18. ix second heart beat count and multiply the result by ten to find your heart rate A six second count is used because your heart rate drops quickly when you stop exercising If your heart rate is too high or too low adjust the speed or incline of the treadmill accordingly WORKOUT GUIDELINES Each workout should include the following three parts Warming Up Start each workout with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A proper warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in prepa ration for exercise Training Zone Exercise After warming up increase the intensity of your exer cise until your pulse is in your training zone for 20 to 60 minutes During the first few weeks of your exer cise program do not keep your pulse in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath 16 To reduce the possibility of the treadmill overheating do not operate the treadmill continuously for longer than one hour 17 Never leave the treadmill unattended whilst it is running Always remove the key when the treadmill is not in use 18 Do not attempt to raise lower or move the treadmill until it is properly assembled See ASSEMBLY on page 5 and HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 10 You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 19 When moving the treadmill or folding the tread
19. mill to the storage position make sure that the storage latch is fully closed 20 The roller guards must be 1 8 inch 3 mm from the rear roller see the drawing on page 4 Unplug the power cord and adjust the roller guards if necessary 21 Inspect and tighten all parts of the treadmill every three months 22 Never insert any object into any opening 23 Do not attempt to modify the incline of the treadmill by placing objects under the front or rear of the treadmill 24 Always unplug the power cord before per forming the maintenance and adjustment procedures described in this manual Never remove the motor hood unless instructed to do so by an authorised service representa tive Servicing other than the procedures in this manual should be performed by an authorised service representative only 25 This treadmill is intended for in home use only Do not use this treadmill in any com mercial rental or institutional setting A WARNING Before beginning this or any exercise program consult your physician This is especially important for persons over the age of 35 or persons with pre existing health prob lems Read all instructions before using ICON assumes no responsibility for personal injury or prop erty damage sustained by or through the use of this product SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Refer to the drawing at the right Locate the indicated warning decal on the tread mill If the warning decal is missing or if i
20. nsole Base Washers 90 and two Console Base Nuts 11 as shown Refer to the inset drawing Tighten all four Console Base Bolts 91 and Console Base Nuts 11 as tightly as possible Carefully lift up and push down on the handrails to make sure that the Console Base 45 does not move Regularly inspect and tighten all four Console Base Bolts and Console Base Nuts Attach the Frame Guide 66 and the Frame Guide Spacer 46 to the left side of the Frame 21 with two Guide Screws 25 Note Be careful not to over tighten the Guide Screws Make sure that the thick end of the Frame Guide is at the bottom Thick end Remove the backing from the Adhesive Clip 2 Press the Adhesive Clip onto the base of the Upright 37 in the indicated location Press the Allen Wrench 85 into the Adhesive Clip The Console 49 requires two AA batteries not included alkaline batteries are recommended Open the Battery Cover 48 as shown Press two batteries into the battery compartment with the neg ative ends of the batteries marked touching the springs Close the Battery Cover Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown Using your left hand slide open the storage latch
