14. e 27 Descriptive Specification SECTION 7 MACHINERY PIPING 7 1 GENERAL In the planning and installation of all the mechanical systems consideration will be given to good access for maintenance and repair All the systems will be laid out in a neat and logical manner and labelled in English Particular care will be taken with the layout of the pipe work Pipes and direction of flow arrows will be painted using a conventional colour coding in order to facilitate the understanding of the circuits A flange or a NORMA coupling will be used where pipes penetrate watertight bulkheads The propulsion engines are aligned and mounted on elastic silent blocks placed under their rigid pads CHOCKFAST resin is used under the silent blocks for positioning Gear boxes are coupled to the engines through a flexible VULKAN reinforced coupling Engines gearbox and shaft alignment is checked with a comparator and complies with the manufacturers requirements 7 2 PIPING All piping is built according to class regulations in non ductile materials such as stainless steel aluminium or galvanised black steel All heterogeneous assembly between different piping materials are perfectly insulated by joints washers and polyamide guns Sacrificial zinc anodes will also be incorporated where required Through hull valves are wafer type valves in stainless steel with flanges Fuel oil All fuel oil piping will be in stainless steel with a minimum nu
