AND OPERATION IS AVAILABLE ON SITE AT THE MANUFACTURER S FACILITY Baker Wood Buddy Rev 1 1 07 WWW BAKER ONLINE COM 12 Set up and Operation Blade Tensioning LJ Your mill is shipped to you without any tension on the blade to help avoid the development of flat spots that cause the blade to track improperly on the band wheels Note For the Honda 9 hp motor this requires a do not operate tag attached to the pull cord and on off switch LJ To tension the blade remove the guards and loosen the jamb nut on the tensioning bolt LJ Turn the tensioning bolt nut clockwise until 30 35 lbs of torque is achieved We recommend the use of a torque wrench for this task Q By hand slowly rotate the blade 3 or 4 full revolutions by turning one of the band wheels This will help center the blade on the wheels Q Usea glove or a straight edge such as a screwdriver or wrench to verify there is no more than 1 4 of deflection in the blade As mentioned above 30 35 Ibs of torque on the tensioning bolt should achieve the proper tension and deflection Q Once proper tension and tracking is achieved re tighten the jamb nut and put the guards back on the machine Q If necessary refer to Setting and Adjusting the Guides page 19 Note A new blade may stretch after cutting and may have to be re tensioned to assure quality results Note De tension the blade if your machine is going to sit idle for a week or longer Remove guards a

11. achine was delivered via flatbed trailer remove 7 Hi Jii JI lt sm straps or chains securing it in place gt Q If machine was delivered by crate carefully remove upper crating materials from the base skid Ll Remove lag screws strapping etc that attaches the machine to the skid Machine Moving LJ Lift machine at the indicated lift points only o Use a safety strap to avoid tip over EE ET LJ Transport machine to the operation site on both sides of machine frame Track and Machine Positioning Placement Leveling Alignment LJ For optimum performance designate a solid and level foundation that is covered and dry free of environmental elements such as rain or snow that could cause electrical or slip hazards LJ A level cement or concrete pad works best but square timbers also work well t is very important to support the track at the joint and under each cross member LJ Provide a minimum of 4 feet of clear workspace around the entire perimeter of the track L Assemble the Wood Buddy track so that the log clamps are on the same side of the mill that the operator will work from Also ensure the clamps face in the same direction LJ Bolt the two 2 sections of track together with the nuts and bolts provided ensuring the track is flush where the two ends are bolted together LJ Check that the four 4 track stops in each corner are in placed and securely fastened LJ Level the Wood B

15. nd loosen jamb nut and turn tensioning bolt nut clockwise to achieve 30 35 Ibs of torque We recommend using a torque wrench Baker Wood Buddy Rev 1 1 07 WWW BAKER ONLINE COM 13 Set up and Operation Getting Started After loading a log onto the track roll it against the raised fence arm and secure it into position with the log clamps ensuring the top of the clamps are positioned safely below the height of the blade Raised fence arms Making the Cut To START Processing Step 1 Prior to starting the engine complete a visual inspection to ensure all guards and covers are in place and secure Step 2 Adjust the guides so that they are slightly no more than 2 inches wider than the maximum width of the log Note As you cut slabs and boards or squares from your log you will want to bring your guides in closer to ensure the best performance and quality cuts Step 3 Start the engine and let it idle and warm up for at least 2 minutes Step 4 Adjust blade height so you will remove the top portion of the log slab Step 6 Increase the engine throttle to full and the centrifugal clutch will engage causing the blade to spin rapidly Step 7 Place your hands on the saw head frame and push it toward the log allowing the blade to begin making its cut Listen to the motor and if it begins to bog down slow your advancement into and through the log Step 8 Once you ve completed your cut re
