1. A QUICK START INCLINE pos SPEED FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The revolutionary treadmill console offers a selection of features designed to make your workouts more effective and enjoyable When you select the manual mode of the console you can change the speed and incline of the treadmill with the touch of a button As you exercise the console will display continuous exercise feedback You can even measure your heart rate using the handgrip pulse sen sor or the optional chest pulse sensor see page 22 for information about the optional chest pulse sensor The console also features 24 interactive cross training workouts designed to help you to burn calories and en hance your cardiovascular system while toning and strengthening your muscles The cross training work outs automatically control the speed and incline of the treadmill and prompt you to perform a variety of strength exercises during your workout Note The strength exercises require the use of dumbbells and an inflatable exercise ball not included To purchase dumbbells or an exercise ball see the front cover of this manual In addition to the cross training workouts the console features nine classic aerobic workouts Each workout automatically controls the speed and incline of the treadmill as it guides you through an effective workout The FIT monthly challenge hel

To select a classic aero bic workout press the Classic Aerobic Workouts but ton repeatedly until the desired workout appears in the display When a classic aerobic workout is selected the left display will show the duration the maximum speed setting and the maximum incline setting of the workout The right display will show the name of the workout and the profile of the speed settings of the workout 3 Press the Quick Start button to start the workout A moment after you press the Quick Start button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the workout Hold the During the workout the profile will show your progress The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound and the new speed setting new incline setting and the next segment of the profile will flash in the display Current Segment The workout will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes in the right display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can manually override the setting by pressing the speed or incline buttons however when the next segment of t

Before reading further please review the drawing below and familiarize yourself with the labeled parts Console Accessory Tray Handrail Upright Walking Belt Foot Rail Rear Roller Adjustment Bolts Key Clip Reset Off yo Breaker Platform Cushion ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed Note The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high performance lubricant During shipping a small amount of lubricant may be transferred to the top of the walking belt or the shipping carton This is a normal condition and does not affect treadmill perfor mance lf there is lubricant on top of the walking belt simply wipe off the lubricant with a soft cloth and a mild non abrasive cleaner Assembly requires the included hex key ll and your own Phillips screwdriver adjustable wrench rubber mallet a and scissors Use the drawings below to identify the assembly hardware The number in parentheses below each drawing is the key number of the part from the PART LIST near the end of this manual The number after the parentheses is the quantity needed for assembly Note If a part is not in the parts bag check to see if it is preattached to one of the parts to be assembled To avoid damaging plastic parts do not use power

6. foot against one of the wheels 2 Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the wheels Carefully move the treadmill to the desired location Never move the treadmill without tipping it back To reduce the risk of injury use extreme caution while moving the treadmill Do not attempt to move the treadmill over an uneven surface 3 Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the treadmill until it is resting in the storage position 23 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand K Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it It may be neces sary to push the frame forward as you pull the knob to the left Pivot the frame downward and release the latch knob G W Latch Knob 2 Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor CAUTION Do not grip only the plastic foot rails or drop the frame to the floor Bend your legs and keep your back straight 24 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assistance is needed please see the front cover of this manual PROBLEM The power does not turn on SOLUTION a Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a properly earthed outlet See page 12 If an ex tension cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord tha
7. history information for two different users Once you determine which user you will be continue to select that user each time you use the treadmill After you have selected user 1 or user 2 your user number will be saved in memory for the remainder of the workout session Each workout is divided into segments One speed setting and one incline setting are programmed for most segments During other segments the console will prompt you to perform strength exercises Note The same speed and or incline setting may be pro grammed for consecutive segments During the workout the profile will show your progress The flashing e segment of the profile Current Segment represents the current segment of the workout The height of the flashing segment indicates the speed setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound and the new speed setting new incline setting and the next segment of the profile will flash in the display If the speed or incline setting is too high or too low at any time during the workout you can manually override the setting by pressing the speed or incline buttons however when the next segment of the workout begins the treadmill will automatically adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To stop the workout at any time press the Stop button To restart the workout press the Quick Start button or the Speed increase button The walking belt wil
8. incline set tings for the next segment The workout will continue in this way until the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop Select a display mode and follow your progress with the displays When the manual mode is selected the console of fers several display modes The display mode that 18 you select will determine which workout information is shown Press the Display button repeatedly to select the desired display mode As you walk or run on the treadmill the display can show the following workout information e The profile of the speed settings of the workout e The elapsed time e The distance that you have walked or run e The speed of the walking belt e The incline setting of the treadmill e The approximate number of calories you have burned e The date e Your heart rate Note Your heart rate can be dis played only while you use the handgrip pulse sen sor see step 6 on page 16 or the optional chest pulse sensor see page 22 To reset the display press the Stop button remove the key and then reinsert the key Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 16 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 16 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 16 HOW TO USE A CLASSIC AEROBIC WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 14 2 Select a classic aerobic workout

MODE on page 21 to turn off the demo mode Next stand on the foot rails of the treadmill Find the clip attached to the key see the drawing on page 13 and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the console When the key is inserted the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency situation the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the position of the clip IMPORTANT If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console remove the plastic To pre vent damage to the walking platform wear clean athletic shoes while using the treadmill The first time the treadmill is used observe the alignment of the walking belt and center the walking belt if nec essary see page 27 Note The console can display speed and distance in either kilometers or miles To find out which unit of measurement is selected see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 21 For simplicity all instructions in this manual refer to kilometers 14 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER to the left Select the manual mode When the key is inserted the manual mode will be selected If you have se lected a workout reselect the manual mode by pressing either of the Workouts buttons repeatedly until only zeros ap

OLE MAY BE DAMAGED WHEN YOU TURN ON THE Console POWER Insert the connectors and the excess Console Assam il wire into the Right Handrail 33 y Wire y 13 Connect the console ground wire to the handrail ground wire Console Assembly Set the console assembly on the Right Handrail 33 and Left Handrail 35 Make sure that the wire harnesses are not pinched Attach the console assembly with two 8 x 1 2 Screws 1 four 8 x 3 4 Screws 12 and four 8 x 1 2 Washer Head Screws 112 Start all the Screws before tightening any of them i W round Wires I G aa ta 12 112 Cut the plastic tie from the Right Handrail 33 See steps 5 and 7 Firmly tighten the four 3 8 x 4 Bolts 6 10 14 Identify the Storage Latch 53 Remove the tie from the end of the tube Make sure that the sleeve has been slid over the indicated hole and that the Latch Knob 54 is locked into the hole Pull on the sleeve to make sure that it is locked into place 15 Raise the Frame 56 to the position shown Have a second person hold the Frame until this step is completed Orient the Storage Latch 53 so that the large barrel and the Latch Knob 54 are in the posi tions shown Attach the Latch Bracket 14 to the bracket on the Base 83 with two 3 8 x 2 Bolts 4 and two 3 8 Nuts 8 Large Attach the upper end of

OUT GUIDELINES Warming up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise for 20 to 30 min utes with your heart rate in your training zone During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your heart rate in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath Cooling down Finish with 5 to 10 minutes of stretch ing Stretching increases the flexibility of your muscles and helps to prevent post exercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest be tween workouts After a few months of regular exer cise you may complete up to five workouts each week if desired Remember the key to success is to make exercise a regular and enjoyable part of your everyday life SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right Move slowly as you stretch never bounce 1 Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible Hold for 15 counts then relax Repeat 3 times Stretches Hamstrings back of knees and back 2 Hamstring Stretch Sit with one le

18. at no wires are pinched Reattach the Access Door 87 with the 8 x 3 4 Screw 12 Discard the other wires included with the receiver Small Screws 22 HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill adjust the incline to the lowest position If you do not do this you may damage the treadmill when you fold it Remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 Ibs 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill 1 Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow at the right CAUTION To decrease the pos sibility of injury do not lift the frame by the plastic foot rails Make sure to bend your legs and keep your back straight as you raise the frame Raise the frame about halfway to the vertical position 2 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks into the storage position Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of di rect sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the stor age position in temperatures above 85 F 30 C HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill convert the treadmill to the stor age position as described above Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position 1 Hold a handrail and the frame and place one

21. e place When you are finished using the treadmill switch the reset off circuit breaker to the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical compo nents may wear prematurely HOW TO USE A CROSS TRAINING WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 14 Select a cross training workout To select a cross train ing workout press the Cross Training Workouts button repeatedly until the desired work out appears in the displays The left display will show the duration the maxi mum speed setting and the maximum incline set ting of the workout The right display will show the name of the workout and the profile of the speed settings of the workout Press the Quick Start button to start the workout A moment after you press the Quick Start button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings of the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking After the walking belt starts moving the right display will ask whether you want to include the workout towards your monthly challenge goal To include the workout press the button below the word YES in the dis play Then select either user 1 or user 2 in the same way and the workout will continue If you se aiii ARE YEL 17 lect NO the workout will continue Note The con sole can track workout

29. l This will recalibrate the incline system PROBLEM The walking belt slows when walked on SOLUTION a If an extension cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 14 gauge 1 mm cord that is no longer than 5 ft 1 5 m b If the walking belt is overtightened treadmill perfor mance may decrease and the walking belt may be come damaged Remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Using the hex key turn both rear roller bolts counterclockwise 1 4 of a turn When the walking belt is properly tightened you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 in 5 to 7 cm off the walking platform Be careful to keep the walking belt centered Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the Rear Roller Bolts treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened c If the walking belt still slows when walked on see the front cover of this manual 26 PROBLEM The walking belt is off center or slips when walked on SOLUTION a If the walking belt is off center first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD If the walking belt has shifted to the left use the hex key to turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1 2 of a turn if the walking belt has shifted to the right turn the bolt counterclockwise 1 2 of a turn Be careful not to overtighten the walking belt Then plug in the power cord insert the key and run the treadmill for a few minutes Repeat until the walk ing belt is c

32. of the console do not function properly SOLUTION a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD With the help of a second person carefully tip the Uprights 74 78 down There may be two 8 x 2 Screws 105 in the bot tom of the Belly Pan 73 If there are remove them Then raise the Uprights Note A Phillips screw driver with a shaft at least 5 in 13 cm long is re quired 25 Remove the three 8 x 3 4 Screws 12 and care fully pivot the Hood 61 off Locate the Reed Switch 71 and the Magnet 50 on the left side of the Pulley 51 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 1 8 in 3 mm If neces sary loosen the 8 x 3 4 Switch Screw 15 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Hood not shown If neces sary tip down the Uprights not shown reattach the 8 x 2 Screws not shown and raise the Uprights Run the treadmill for a few minutes to check for a correct speed reading PROBLEM The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly SOLUTION a With the key in the console press one of the Incline buttons While the incline is changing re move the key After a few seconds re insert the key The treadmill will automatically rise to the maximum incline level and then return to the minimum leve
