1. m Installation Manual Page 2 Introduction We ve aimed to make the installation of BANS as simple as it can be and this Installation Manu al as comprehensive as it can be If you follow it in sequence and to the letter you will find yourself inside your new BANS admin panel within a very short period of time If you ve not yet decided on the first niche that you are going to target you may also find the Tutorials inside of the Build A Niche Store Customer Area Useful Tutorials Page 3 Table Of Contents Lesson 1 Before You Get Going pg 4 7 1 1 What you will be doing pg 4 1 2 How to choose a domain name pg 5 1 3 How to set up a hosting account pg 6 1 4 How to join the eBay affiliate program pg 7 Lesson 2 Installing Build A Niche Store pg 9 21 2 1 What you will be doing pg 9 2 2 How to upload files to your domain name pg 10 2 3 How to CHMOD certain files pg 14 2 4 How to create a new MYSQL database pg 16 2 5 How to finish the installation process pg 18 Page 4 1 Lesson 1 Before You Get Going 1 1 What You Will Be Doing Before you can use BANS there are three things that you need to have in place In this lesson you will be learning the following 1 2 How to choose a domain name 1 3 How to set up a hosting account 1 4 How to join the eBay affiliate program If you already have these three things then you can move on to Lesson 2 which will show you h2. just the contents of the country folder as shown below di admin How Can I Upload These Files database sql index php Install php web config The software we recommend you use to upload files to a website is CuteFTP You can down load Cute FTP and use it free for 30 days Once you have downloaded CuteFTP you can connect to your hosting account by following the steps below 1 Open CuteFTP for the first time You will be presented with a Connection Wizard Page 11 2 Enter your website URL into the Host Address input area and click on Next Welcome to the CuteFTP Connection Wizard This wizard helps you enter the information necessary to connect to an FIP site Enter the Host Address or FTP URL provided to you by the administrator of the site you want to connect with The Host address is usually in the format ftp yoursite com or Host Address yourdomainname com Enter a label that will help you identify this site at a later time You can use any name for the label such as My Site or Internet Files Site Name yourdomainname com 3 Enter your hosting account User Name and Password and click on Next Enter the assigned username and password for this site The password is usually case sensitive and is provided by your system administrator or web hosting provider If you are not sure what your Username and Password are please contact the administrator of the FTP

To take advantage of this offer please enter the following Coupon Code when you come to checkout Coupon Code freetrial Click here to set up your hosting account atepinenpaiim If you have purchased your domain name outside of HostGator then in order to set it up on your hosting account you will need to change the DNS Nameserver settings of your domain name to those provided by your hosting provider If you have set up your hosting account with HostGator then the Nameservers you will need to use are located inside the confirmation email that they sent you If you have purchased your domain name from GoDaddy then you can change the Nameserv ers by following the steps below 1 Log into your GoDaddy account 2 Hover your mouse over the far left button named Domains and then select My Domains 3 Click on the check box next to your domain name 4 Then click on the button named Nameservers near the top of your screen 5 On the Nameserver page click on the button named Custom Nameservers 6 Enter the Nameservers given to you by your hosting provider into the relevant input boxes 7 Once entered click on the button named Ok You will then be taken to a confirmation screen informing you that the changes are being made Note It can take between 24 48 hours for the Nameservers to be updated but it normally oc curs within a few minutes Page 7 1 4 Joining The eBay Affiliate Program If
4. you unzipped the BANS folder you downloaded and double click the left mouse button on the country specific folder of the store you want to build ie US Store Page 13 8 You should now see a screen like the one below Hold down the left mouse button and high light all of the folders files inside the script folder on your computer and then simply drag them over to the right screen of CuteFTP to upload them to your website Note If you have trouble dragging the files over from your computer to your hosting account then please make sure that the files on your computer have been unzipped scripts a htaccess database sql Ei index php Ei install php Ei rtem php sitemap php Item Name Address lt gt Size Progress Local 1 H scripts buildan BP 15126 KB CA Users 52 H i themes buildan gt z 0 bytes CAUsers Once the folder files have been uploaded you will see a screen like below Name Name Size admin 4 00 KB cont 4 00 KB bl scripts 4 00 KB themes 4 00 KB a htaccess 835 bytes database sql 4 64 MB 12 index php 67 15 KB E install php 15 28 KB E item php 11 50 KB Ei sitemap php 2 37 KB web config h web config 1 59 KB You have now successfully uploaded BANS to your hosting account Please keep CuteFTP open as you will need it in the next section Page 14 2 3 CHMOD Files Note HostGator DO NOT require you to do change file permissions so please skip this section i
5. your hosting account normally public_html BANS Install Your Store Step i Things You Should Have Done 1 Uploaded The BANS Files 2 Created A New Database 3 CHMOD the cont cont php file to 777 If you have installed your store and are still seeing this page Please Delete install php Click Here To Continue Note At this stage in your installation please ignore the directions which say Please Delete Install php Follow the on screen directions and press the Click Here To Continue button where you will then be taken to a new screen like the one below where you will need to enter your database information Page 19 BANS Install Your Store Step 2 Enter Your Database Details Database Name adam_ebay Username adam_example Password Server localhost Click Here To Continue Once you have entered your database information press the Click Here To Continue button Note If BANS has any problems connecting to your database an error will appear on your screen telling you what the problem could be Please follow the error message to fix the prob lem or log in to our forum for advice if you are unable to continue Note localhost error Some hosting providers like GoDaddy and 1 amp 1 require the Server field to be changed from localhost to the actual Host Address used by your server If you receive a localhost error then please access your hosting ac
6. count and enter the Data bases section Inside your Databases section you should be able to view your database details and should see a value named Host Address Host Name or Server Name it should look something like this mysql123 secureserver net Please enter that value into the Server input box of the BANS installation screen and press the Click Here To Continue button the localhost error should then be removed Note If you have problems removing the localhost error then please contact your hosting pro vider for the correct value you will need to enter instead of localhost Once your database information is correct you will see a screen as shown below telling you that BANS has successfully connected to your database Page 20 BANS Install Your Store Step 3 Database Connection Successful Finish Installing Your Store By Clicking On The Button Below Click Here To Continue To complete the install of your store press the Click Here To Continue button one last time and you will then be taken to a screen as shown below BANS Install Your Store Step 4 Installation Successful Please Do The Following 1 Delete install php From Your Website 2 CHMOD the cont cont php file to 644 Your Default Login Details Are Below Username admin Password bans Page 21 Congratulations your store is now installed Please complete the following 2 tasks bef
7. f you have set up an account with them If you are using a different hosting provider then in order for scripts to run some providers will require you to change file permissions CHMOD To ensure this installation runs smoothly please CHMOD the file named cont php to 777 The cont php file is located inside the folder named cont on your hosting account To CHMOD files using CuteFTP please follow the steps below Whilst connected to your hosting account double click the left mouse button on the folder named cont Inside the cont folder right click the mouse button on the file name cont php and select Properties CHMOD from the menu which appears as seen below Name i admin i cont amp Download Ctrl PgDn di scripts Download Advanced Ji themes E htaccess Cut Ctrl X database sql H Copy Ctrl C B index php Paste Ctrl V Ei install php m na Move to a aaa Select All Ctrl A L web config Edit Ctrl Enter a View Ctrl W Open Ctrl E F2 Del ltem Name Fi Properties CHMOD Alt Enter Note Make sure that you are modifying the cont folder that you have uploaded to your hosting account and not the one you have on your PC If you are using Cute FTP it will be located in the right hand column as above When you click on Properties CHMOD a box will appear like below Page 15 To CHMOD the file enter 777 into
8. ink inside the email that eBay send you Without confirmation you will not be able to access the affiliate center Having purchased a domain name set up a hosting account and joined the eBay affiliate pro gram of your choice you are now ready to move on to Lesson 2 Installing BANS Page 9 2 Lesson 2 Installing BANS 2 1 What You Will Be Doing In order to access your admin panel and start building your store you need to first install BANS If you are new to building websites then some of the terminology in this section will be unfamil iar Please do not let this concern you Just follow exactly what the instructions say and you will find yourself inside your new store admin panel shortly In this lesson you will be learning the following 2 2 How to upload files to your domain name 2 3 How to CHMOD certain files 2 4 How to create a new MYSQL database 2 5 How to finish the installation process 2 2 Uploading The Files Page 10 Inside the Build A Niche Store folder which you downloaded to your computer you will see 12 country specific folders di AT Store di AU Store di BE Store di CA Store di ES Store di FR Store di IN Store di IT Store di NL Store di 56 Store di UK Store di US Store What Do I Need To Upload 1 Open the folder for the country specific store you want to build and upload all of the folders files EXACTLY as seen below Note Do not upload the actual country folder as shown above
9. main name that you like which is not available in the com extensions above you may consider purchasing a net org biz info extension Here s a few good examples of niche domain names BargainStrollers com FindMotorcycleParts com DiscountAirCompressors co uk BuySurfboards com au GoDaddy has a great tool which you can use to find available domain names and once you have found a domain name that you want to use you have two options 1 Purchase it through GoDaddy Note We don t recommend GoDaddy as a hosting provider 2 Purchase it when you set up your hosting account with our recommended provider below Page 6 1 3 Setting Up A Hosting Account Once you have your domain name the second thing you need is a hosting account Your host ing account will allow you to host your domain name live on the internet and upload BANS to it The hosting provider that we recommend and which a large percentage of BANS users use is a company called HostGator With HostGator you can host as many websites as you want unlim ited for a very competitive 9 95 a month on their Baby hosting package This is a great accompanying package to the unlimited site license you received with BANS and will enable you to really take advantage of the software by developing multiple stores Because of the popularity of HostGator with BANS users we have also managed to set up a discount so that your 1st month hosting costs only 0 01 rather than 9 95
10. ore continuing 1 Delete the file named install php this will be located inside your public_html folder or the sub folder where you uploaded BANS 2 CHMOD the cont php file back to 644 See the CHMOD section if you need help with this Once you have completed the tasks above press the Login button where you will be taken to the login page of your BANS admin panel It s now time to start using BANS With the installation complete you can now put this installation manual to one side for when you come to install your second store and open up Manual 2 The User Manual The User Manual will then walk you through building and developing your first and future stores
11. ow to install BANS Page 5 1 2 Choosing A Domain Name The first thing you need is a domain name for your new store There are many theories as to what makes a good domain name but here s a few simple things you should take into consid eration when choosing a domain name for your new store 1 Know your niche When choosing a domain name the first thing you need to think about is the niche market your store is going to target If you re thinking about building a Guitar store then you will want to start thinking about words which people are using in this market so that your domain name will repre sent what the market will expect from your site GuitarStore com would be superb Cheap Gui tars net would be a good choice FindAGuitar co uk etc 2 Keep it short Keep in mind that people need to be able to remember your domain name You should try to register the shortest domain name that you can find which does it s job of representing your chosen niche 3 Domain extension Because you will be building your store to target one of the 12 countries which BANS supports we recommend that you buy a domain name which contains the extension of your target coun try For Example Australia com au Austria at Belgium be Canada ca France fr India in Italy it Netherlands nl Spain es Singapore com sg United Kingdom co uk United States com If you are targeting the United States ie eBay com and you find a do
12. site or visit the support section of your FTP Host provider s Web site for more information User Name Login method build Normal Password Anonymous eeoneens Double Page 12 4 Select a default folder on your computer that files will be downloaded to You can leave this as is set by CuteFTP then click on Next When connecting to this FTP site CuteFTP will automatically set the local and remote folders to what is specified below Files or folders that you upload or download when connected to this FTP site will appear in these folders by default You can change these settings at any time Default Local Folder C Users user Documents Default Remote Folder Optional 5 You should now receive a message like below to say that you are connected to your website Note If you cannot get connected then please contact your hosting provider and ask them for your FTP details Connected You can now drag and drop your files to and from your local and remote panes E Do not show this prompt again Once connected to your website you will see the folders files hosted on your website in the right screen of CuteFTP and the folders files stored on your computer in the left 6 Navigate to the area of your website normally the public_html folder where you want to up load BANS Double click the left mouse button on the folder name to enter that area 7 Navigate to the area of your computer where
13. the Permissions input area currently 644 as seen above or tick all of the boxes then click on the Apply button as shown below Owner Read Write Execute You have now successfully CHMOD the cont php file and can move onto the next section Page 16 2 4 Creating A New MYSQL Database With BANS uploaded you now need to create a new MySQL database This is done from inside your hosting account Cpanel and if you have setup your hosting ac count with HostGator please enter your website URL into your browser address bar like below http Awww yourdomainname com cpanel Note Please replace yourdomainname com for your actual domain name ie golfer com You will be promted to enter a username and password to access your Cpanel These will be the username and password you chose when you setup your hosting account Once you have gone through the following steps to create your database you will be able to run through the final installation steps to complete your install Note The screen shots in this section are from a Cpanel based hosting account like HostGa tor Other hosting accounts will look different and many like GoDaddy do not require you to do step 3 below 1 How To Create A New Database Inside your hosting account Cpanel you will see an area named MySQL Databases or some thing similar If you enter the MySQL Databases area you will see an input box on your screen like the one below Ne
14. w Database Create Database Enter a new name for your database ie eBay as seen above and click on the Create Data base button You will be taken to a confirmation page and will need to click on the Go Back link to return to the previous page That s your new database created 2 How To Create A New Database User In order for a database to be used you will need to create a new database user who can access the database information You will see an input box on your screen like the one below Username Password Enter a new username 7 characters max and password and click on the Create User button You will be taken to a confirmation page and will need to click on the Go Back link to return to the previous page Page 17 That s your new database user created 3 Final Step In order for your new user to access the database you will need to join the two together You will see an area on your screen like the one below Add Users To Your Databases User adam_example Database adam_ebay Privileges ALL or SELECT CREATE INSERT ALTER UPDATE DROP DELETE LOCK TABLES INDEX REFERENCES Select your database user and database name from the two drop down menus as shown above and click on the Add User to Database button please don t touch the tick boxes That s it you have successfully created your new database and can move onto the Final Instal lation Steps Please take a note of
15. you already have one or more developed niche sites then you can apply to be an eBay affili ate straight away using one of your developed sites in the application process described below If you are using Build A Niche Store to develop your first niche site then you will need to com plete your first site up to an acceptable standard before walking through the following applica tion process To join the eBay affiliate program please click on the link below Join the eBay Affiliate Program Step 1 BANS supports 9 of the 13 eBay affiliate programs that you can join eBay US eBay UK eBay CA eBay AU eBay NL eBay IT eBay ES eBay FR eBay BE Step 2 Make sure that you tick the Terms of Service boxes before you proceed Step 3 Click on the button named Continue and you will be taken to a screen as seen below Page 8 ehY Partner Network Join the eBay Partner Network Step 2 of 2 Contact Information Password Password must be af least characters long and contain at lessi one number Contin password Fhone number Business Information Company name For individuale please enter your full name You will need to fill in all of the input boxes which are marked with a Once you have completed the form click on the button named Submit Application and you will then be sent an email to ask you to confirm your application Note Please make sure that you confirm your application by clicking on the l
16. your new database information as you will need them in the next section Note HostGator and many other Cpanel based hosting accounts will place your hosting ac count username infront of both your database name and database username If you accessed your hosting account with the username adam and created a new database named ebay then your database name would actually be adam_ebay The same applies with your database user if you created a new database user named exam ple then your database user would actually be adam_example Your password however will always stay exactly the same as the password you entered and is case sensitive ie MyPaSsword Page 18 2 5 Finishing The Installation Process With BANS uploaded and your database created you can now take the final installation steps To finish the installation please enter your website URL into your browser address bar If you have uploaded BANS into your public_html folder enter your URL like below http www yourdomainname com If you have uploaded BANS into a different folder on your website enter your URL like below http www yourdomainname com foldername Note Please replace yourdomainname com for your actual domain name ie golfer com When you visit your website you should now see a screen as shown below Note If you do not see the BANS installation screen then please make sure that you have up loaded the BANS files into the correct area of
