5. water 4 1 Place of use Place the VARIO coffee grinder on a level stable non slip surface 4 2 Fitting the hopper To fit the hopper 2 align the two small tabs on the hopper base with the slots on top of the housing and insert the hopper into the coffee grinder Ensure correct alignment narrow and wide slot Turn the hopper clockwise until it clicks into place Electrical connection Connect the grinder to a properly installed safety socket Filling the hopper Remove the lid Pos 1 by lifting it off the hopper Pos 2 Pour the required quantity of roasted whole coffee beans into the hopper max 250 grams Replace the lid GROUND COFFEE CONTAINER PORTAFILTER HOLDER With the VARIO you can grind the beans either into a ground coffee container or direct into a portafi Iter of an espresso machine 5 1 Inserting the ground coffee container Pos 5 Hold the ground coffee container by the handle at the top Pos 4 and insert it into the grinder below the display When correctly inserted the container engages noticeably on the baseplate below Setting and insertion of the portafi Iter holder Pos 6 The portafilter holder can be set so that the portafilter of your espresso machine is held in it automatically and does not need to be held in position during grinding Since the portafilter of different manufacturers have sometimes very different dimensions the portafilter holder may need to be reset Setting Remove the port
6. 0 When the display reaches 0 seconds the motor stops and the display resets itself to the programmed time Manual dosing To produce larger amounts of ground coffee press the MANUAL button Pos 11 and then START The coffee grinder counts up to the maximum time of 90 seconds and then switches off automatically You can stop the grinding process at any time by pressing the START button again The motor stops and the display is reset to 000 The maximum time of 90 seconds cannot be reset by the user 8 PROGRAMMING THE GRINDER DOSING TIMES The VARIO is set at the factory with three programmed grinder dosing times The dosing memory buttons are practically labelled for Espresso Filter and Press These programmable buttons only set the TIME of the grinding process but not the FINENESS of the ground coffee Button programming factory setting Espresso Pos 14 10 seconds Filter Pos 15 20 seconds and Press Pos 16 30 seconds After you have set the grind adjustment to the required level press the corresponding dosing memory button and then START The coffee grinder starts and the display Pos 17 counts downwards from the preset time The coffee grinder stops automatically on reaching 0 To stop the coffee grinder at any time during the grinding process simply press the START button again 8 PROGRAMMING THE GRINDER DOSING TIMES Depending on the required amount of coffee you can easily programme a longer

CLEANING Safety instructions on GRINDZ GRINDZ is completely safe in contact with foodstuffs and is made from natural products The main components consist of a combination of granules cereals and pharmaceutical bonding agents For this reason there is no danger if slight remains of the cleaner are consumed nor do they change the taste of the coffee 10 2 2 Manual cleaning of the grinder For manual cleaning of the grinder proceed as follows a Remove all beans from the hopper Press the START button to grind any beans remaining in the grinder housing RN DANGER Disconnect the plug from the socket A b Remove the hopper by turning it anticlockwise as far as possible and then lift it out of the housing Wash the hopper the lid and the ground coffee container in warm soapy water Turn the upper grinding disc carrier see illustration above clockwise as far as it will go and lift it out of the housing Clean the grinder with a small brush Remove all coffee residues from the two grinding discs Ensure that no coffee residues remain in the closure mechanism Replace the upper grinding disc carrier on the grinder housing and turn it clockwise as far as it will go To insert the hopper follow the instructions on 4 2 11 FAULT RECTIFICATION DANGER Observe the safety instructions given in Chapter 1 at all times A PROBLEM The coffee grinder fails Ensure that the hopper is correctly inserted and

14. or shorter grinding time as follows To set the time press the buttons Pos 12 13 below the display Press and hold the respective button for three seconds in order to advance or reduce the time more quickly As soon as you have reached the required time setting press and hold the corresponding dosing memory button Espresso Filter or Press for 3 seconds The time shown in the display flashes in confirmation that the setting has been saved Repeat steps 1 and 2 above for the other two dosing memory buttons The amount of coffee you have to grind depends on the type of bean the fineness the preparation method and your personal taste You will soon find the settings most suitable for your taste 9 SLEEP AUTOSLEEP The coffee grinder has no power switch although it can be set to a sleep mode in order to minimise the power consumption Sleep function The grinder is set to the sleep mode by pressing and holding the START button for 3 seconds The sleep mode can be deactivated by pressing any other button without activating the function of this button Automatic sleep function Autosleep If no button is pressed for 3 minutes the grinder switches automatically into the Autosleep mode Pressing any button restores the grinder to the operating mode Setting the Autosleep mode The factory setting 3 minutes can be changed To do this press and hold the MANUAL button for 5 seconds The display shows S03 The time a
