4. hane left at any point after the tner stats press the space bar Saving Your Gane Macintosh To save your gane in progress sdect Save Gane fromthe File menu More than one oane can be saved by entering a unique nane for each gane to be sed If you would like to resurve a Saved ganre you can either double click on the saved garre icon or select Q n Gane fromthe File menu and double click on the saved gane you wish to resurre Windows 95 Windous 98 TO Save a gane in progress press Alt Gat any tne during play to access the Saved Ganes screen Use the TAB key to select a vacant Saved Gane sla then type in a unique narre for the gane you wert to save Vhen you here finished press ENTER to retum to the action Ten ganes can be saved at any one tine If you wish to save a gane when all of the saved garre slots are filled you wil have to replace a previously saved gane To Save Over an existing saved gane select the occupied saved garre slat delete the saved gane name and then enter the new nane If you would like to resurre a Saved garre instead of pressing any key or a joystick button to stat a new gare press Alt L to access the Resurre Saved Garre screen Use the TAB key to select the gane you wish to resurre then press ENTER The gare wil resurve fromthe beginning of the laa or fromthe rebirth point you were at when you saved it About the Author J ordan Mechner wes bom in New York City and graduated from Yale University in 1

11. etch at for spikes that spring out of the well If you wernt to climb a well that is booby traoped with spikes first take a careful step to tigger the spikes Once the spikes have been triggered you can climb the well without getting hurt e Amo story drop will hurt you A three story drop will kill you Instead of stepping straight off a high ledge it is often wiser to reduce the distance you must fall by tuming your back to the ledge dintbing down to hang fromit and letting yourself drop e When you let yoursef drop froma ledge you can often influence the direction of your fall by choosing the right moment to let go If you let go while you are swinging forward you wil fall forwercl If you let go while you are swinging backwerrd you will fall backwerrcd e Not all sworcs ae Created equal Sone are nore equal than chess e IF you encounter an opponent whomit seems inqpossible to beat perhaps you re not using the night weapon Or perhaps there is a way to aad the fight entirely Life and Death The row of red pation bottles in the lower left comer of the screen indicates your current strength Bery tne you get hurt you lose one unt of strength When the last of your strength disappears you de You start the garre with three units of strength Later on you will be able to increase your strength beyond this limt by finding life enhancing potions The more you can find the better off you will be Things that cost you one unit of stre
