Position the spare wheel tire on the vehicle and install the lug nuts with the cone shaped end toward the wheel Lightly tighten the lug nuts clockwise To avoid the risk of forcing the vehicle off the jack do not tighten the nuts fully until the vehicle has been lowered Lower the vehicle by turning the jack screw to the left and remove the jack and wheel blocks Finish tightening the lug nuts Push down on the wrench while tightening for increased leverage Alternate nuts until each one has been tightened twice The correct wheel nut tightness is 95 ft lbs 130 Nem If in doubt about the correct tightness have them checked with a torque wrench by your authorized dealer or at a service station WARNING A loose tire or jack thrown forward in a collision or hard stop could endanger the occupants of the vehicle Always stow the Jack parts and the spare tire in the places provided e Secure the tire jack and tools in their proper locations 47 WHAT TO DO IN EVIERGENCIES JUMP STARTING r m Positive Terminal e f your vehicle has a discharged battery it can be jumpstarted using a set of jumper cables and a battery in another vehicle or by using a portable battery booster pack e Jump starting can be dangerous if done improperly so please follow the procedures in this section carefully NOTE When using a portable battery booster pack follow the manufacturer s operating instructions and precautions

16. a sitting position rotate the seatback upright until it locks Push the seat rearward until the track locks NOTE f equipped with a combination lever the seatback will return to its first locked position The recliner handle will have to be actuated to adjust the seatback to the desired reclined position The front passenger seats have a track memory which returns the seat to just past the halfway point of the track regardless of its original position The recliner and easy entry levers should not be used during the automatic returning of the seat to its fully upright position 13 GETTING STARTED REAR SEATS Folding Rear Seat Be sure that the front seats are fully upright and positioned forward This will allow the rear seat to fold down easily To Fold The Rear Seat Lift the seatback release lever and fold the seatback forward two door models Slowly flip the entire seat two door models forward Locate the pull strap located on the outboard side of the seat and pull it toward you until the seatback releases four door models To Raise The Rear Seat e Return the seat to the normal position two door models Lift up on the seatback to return it to the upright position WARNINC It is extremely dangerous to ride in a cargo area inside or outside of a vehicle In a collision people riding in these areas are more likely to be seriously injured or killed Do not allow people to ride in an
17. city traffic while stopped shift transmission into NEUTRAL but not increase engine idle speed NOTE There are steps that you can take to slow down an impending overheat condition f your air conditioner A C is on turn it off The A C system adds heat to the engine cooling system and turning the A C off can help remove this heat You can also turn the Temperature Control to maximum heat the Mode Control to floor and the Fan Control to high This allows the heater core to act as a supplement to the radiator and aids in removing heat from the engine cooling system If the temperature reading does not return to normal turn the engine off immediately We recommend that you do not operate the vehicle or engine damage will occur Have the vehicle serviced immediately CAUTION Driving with a hot cooling system could damage your vehicle If the temperature gauge reads HOT pull over and stop the vehicle Idle the vehicle with the air conditioner turned off until the pointer drops back into the normal range If the pointer remains on HOT and you hear continuous chimes turn the engine off immediately and call for service EM WHAT DO IN EVIERGENCIES WARNING You or others can be badly burned by hot engine coolant antifreeze or steam from your radiator If you see or hear steam coming from under the hood do not open the hood until the radiator has had time to cool Never try to open a cooling s
18. may need to be driven for up to 20 minutes above 15 mph 25 km h before the light will turn off Temperature changes can affect tire pressure causing the TPMS light to turn on Tire pressures will also increase as the vehicle is driven this is normal and you should not adjust for this increased pressure Driving on under inflated tires reduces your vehicle s fuel efficiency and tire tread life If a spare tire is in use on the vehicle the TPMS light may turn on 41 WHAT DO IN EVIERGENCIES Engine Temperature Warning Light This light warns of an overheated engine condition fthe light turns on and a warning chime sounds while driving safely pull over and stop the vehicle If the A C system is on turn it off Also shift the transmission into NEUTRAL and idle the vehicle If the temperature reading does not return to normal turn the engine off immediately We recommend that you do not operate the vehicle or engine damage will occur Have the vehicle serviced immediately WARNING A hot engine cooling system is dangerous You or others could be badly burned by steam or boiling coolant You may want to call an authorized dealership for service if your vehicle overheats BRAKE Brake Warning Light The Brake Warning light illuminates when there is either a system malfunction or the parking brake is applied If the light is on and the parking brake is not applied it indicates a possible brake hydra
