IE de la DIRECTIVE de NAVIGABILITE de l EASA de r f rence 2011 0021 AQUILA AVIATION BY EXCELLENCE AG Avions AQUILA ATO1 1 APPLICABILITE La pr sente Directive de Navigabilit AD concerne les avions AQUILA ATO1 du num ro de s rie ATA01 100 ATAO1 222 2 RAISON Une diff rence significative entre l indication de quantit de carburant et le niveau r el de carburant a t observ e lors du remplissage en carburant d un nouveau AT01 avec de l AVGAS 100LL apr s une calibration basique pour du MOGAS L indication de quantit de carburant tait plus basse que la quantit r elle dans les r servoirs d aile Les investigations ont montr que dans le cas inverse de remplissage avec du MOGAS pour une calibration basique pour de l AVGAS 100LL l indication de quantit carburant est sup rieure la quantit de carburant r elle dans les r servoirs d aile Cette condition si non d tect e et corrig e peut causer un arr t en vol moteur avec de possibles cons quences pour l a ronef et ses occupants Le d tenteur du certificat de navigabilit a pris en compte cette situation dans le bulletin de service SB AT01 020 Pour les raisons d crites ci dessus cette AD exige les actions comme d crites dans le BS SB AT01 020 Appliquer les proc dures op rationnelles s res comme solution d int rim Etablir la proc dure de calibration correcte pour le syst me d indication de la quantit de carbura

6. perational Limitation Modification Manufacturer s AQUILA Aviation by Excellence AG Applicability Model AT01 serial numbers AT01 100 up to AT01 222 Reason A significant discrepancy between the indicated fuel level and the actual fuel level has been observed during fuelling of a new AT01 aeroplane with AVGAS 100LL after basic calibration with MOGAS The indicated fuel amount was lower than the actual amount in the wing tanks Subsequent investigation revealed that in the opposite case fuelling with MOGAS after basic calibration with AVGAS 100LL the indicated fuel amount is higher than the actual fuel amount in the wing tanks This condition if not detected and corrected can cause an in flight engine shut down possibly resulting in damage to the aeroplane and injury to occupants The TC holder has addressed this issue by Service Bulletin SB AT01 020 For the reasons mentioned above this AD requires the actions as described in the SB AT01 020 establish safe operating procedures as an interim solution establish a correct calibration procedure for the fuel quantity indication system and require calibration in accordance with correct procedure as a terminating action EASA Form 110 ATA 28 Effective Date Required action s and Compliance Time s Ref Publications Remarks EASA Form 110 21 February 2011 Required as indicated unless already accomplished 1 Within 14 days after the effective
