This paper reports the reading classes practices to answer the comprehension questions without access to the texts This practical study is designed for Japanese language learners to change their reading aim from a surface level comprehension to a deep comprehension This study analyzes the post questionnaires given to the students afterward and the notes that the learners had taken and it indicates that the learners made a change to grasping gist actively through the practices This paper proposes the alternative method to improve the conventional reading activities with the answering practices without access to the texts AT 1 1 1
