23. elect and train the correct word to improve its model e Say and train the incorrect word to train it away from the correct word Training for sounds not words LookUp works by recognizing phonemes sounds not by recognizing whole words When you train a particular word you are training the model for all of the phonemes in Voice LookUp User s Guide page 20 that word Since other words may use the same phonemes this training will affect those words as well This means it is important to check the phonetic spelling displayed by LookUp before you tap train Suppose you said Look up John and in the resulting list you selected the entry for Johnny with a phonetic spelling of jonY If you train this pronunciation you will make the model for Y worse rather than better If you meant to say Johnny instead of John it is best to repeat the utterance the way you meant to say it then train the correct pronunciation You can always tap the pronunciation by the train button to verify it agrees with what you said If the pronunciation for the word is actually incorrect you will need to change it see the Add Pronunciation section You may find words however that require special training Special training for difficult words If a word just never comes up in the choice list when you try to look it up it may be time to use stronger methods Whereas ordinary training in the main LookUp screen has a 10 effect on the model
