2. 95 non condensing READY IN 4 STEPS It will not take you long to install the HD 30 The following steps summarize what you need to do 1 You lay the cables to the HD 30 2 You connect in parallel one or more switches and light fittings to the HD 30 and then connect the HD 30 to the power supply 3 You run the communications test in order to make it possible for the HD 30 and the HCM 200 to communicate with each other 4 You mount the unit base of the HD 30 on a flush mounted distribution box and close the housing You re ready INSTALLATION Note The HD 30 is equipped with a radio receiver which can be adversely affected by the presence of metal objects This means that its may not receive signals properly For this reason when you are selecting a suitable location to install your HD 30 make sure it is installed at a sufficient distance from metal objects such as concrete reinforcement steel metal mesh and so on YOUR SAFETY DANGER A Mortal danger from electric shock During installation of the cabling system for the HD 30 electrical contacts carrying power will be exposed Touching a live contact may cause fatal injury 1 Have all work carried out only by authorized technicians 2 Any time work is being carried out on the HD 30 switch off the corresponding line fuse 1 LAY THE CABLES The HD 30 is intended to be surface mounted on a flush mounted distribution box All of the cables f
3. Honeywell Hometronic INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS HD 30 DIMMER CONTROL MODULE DESCRIPTION The HD 30 is a dimmer for electric light bulbs and for high and low voltage HV halogen lamps with an inductive iron core transformer It is used in conjunction with the HCM 200 Hometronic Manager in a Hometronic system The HD 30 is intended to be surface mounted on a flush mounted distribution box There is no need to change the existing electrical wiring system You can adjust the brightness of the connected electric lights not only with the existing light switches but also independently of the wiring via the HCM 200 Hometronic Manager With the HCM 200 you can also control the brightness of the lights by means of a timing program or a life style program At the HCM 200 you can activate the HD 30 s operating mode At home simulation The HD 30 will then switch the connected lights on or off or dim them while you are away from the house for example The HD 30 actually repeats all of the commands you input into the HD 30 over the preceding 72 hours In contrast to randomly controlled systems the lights will not be switched on or off at unusual times of day or night OPERATING CONDITIONS Power consumption of the 60 VA 300 VA ohmic or lights inductive load Operational voltage 230 V AC Operating temperature 0 40 C Storage temperature 20 to 70 C Maximum air humidity
4. llation De installation Brightness function Daylight saving time 2 Inthe Installation menu select the menu item Lighting Heating Shutters Lighting SENSORS 3 Inthe Lighting menu select the appropriate module for example Module 1 Module Module Module Module ass e RS The module you selected is now marked with the symbol and has now been activated for the communications test If you select the module name again the communications test will be repeated The Hometronic Manager and the HD 30 are now in communications testing mode and are attempting to exchange data The communications testing phase should not take more than 3 minutes Afterwards the HD 30 changes back to its normal operating mode The communications test has been completed successfully once the HD 30 has reached its maximum brightness again 4 lf the HD 30 reduces the brightness down to about 30 Improve the data transmission Repeat the communications test Honeywell Improving data transmission 1 Prevent interference from for example cordless headphones or loudspeakers garage door openers remote control units 2 Prevent screening effects from for example noise sources in the vicinity metal objects 3 Correct the position of the HD 30 at its place of installation 4 FASTEN AND CLOSE THE HOUSING 1 Screw the housing base onto the flush mounting distribution box
5. ng base as shown in the following diagram 3 Fix the housing base provisionally in the place where you intend to mount the dimmer in order to be able to make any small adjustments which may be necessary 3 CARRY OUT THE COMMUNICATIONS TEST The HD 30 will not be able to communicate with the HCM 200 until the communications test has been conducted During the communications test the HCM 200 and the HD 30 exchange data in order to identify themselves to each other If you are not yet familiar with operating the HCM 200 Hometronic Manager be sure to read the section Example Setting the date and time in the operating instructions for the Hometronic Manager You will need to be acquainted with the information provided in this section dealing with operating the Hometronic Manager before you can run a successful communications test Note The communications test phase will be active for no more than 3 minutes Afterwards the HD 30 changes back to its normal operating mode Read through the following steps first to familiarize yourself with what you have to do Activate communications testing mode at the HD 30 Hold one of push button switches down for about 20 seconds until the HD 30 has set itself to constant half brightness Activate communications testing mode at the Hometronic Manager 1 At the Hometronic Manager menu call up Settings The following message will appear in the display of the Hometronic Manager Insta
6. nications test AT HOME SIMULATION In the At home simulation operating mode the HCM 200 repeats the entire sequence of lighting changes of the previous 72 hours This means that in contrast to randomly controlled systems the HCM 200 will not switch the lights on or off at unusual times of day or night In this connection you should read At home simulation in the Operation section of the operating instructions for the HCM 200 Hometronic Manager CHANGING THE FUSE DANGER A Mortal danger from electric shock When the contact covers are open electrical contacts carrying power will be exposed Touching a live contact may cause fatal injury 1 Switch off the corresponding fuse 2 Make sure that the contacts cover is closed 1 Remove the housing cover 2 Remove the defective fuse Fuse 3 Insert a new fuse 1 5 A slow blow 4 Replace the housing cover and click in place TROUBLE SHOOTING FAULTS Problem Cause Remedy The Radio See Improving data communications communication transmission test failed suffering from interference No control by Radio See Improving data Hometronic communication transmission Manager suffering from interference Can t switch the Overload protection Disconnect one or light on activated The total more lights Use power consumed by lights which the connected lights consumer les
7. rom the lights and the light switches come together in the flush mounted distribution box 1 Extend the cables or shorten them so that they stick out of the distribution box by at least 10 cm 2 Remove the unit s cover 3 Use a small screwdriver to lever off the cover of the contacts 4 Guide all of the cables through the openings in the base of the unit 2 CONNECT THE LIGHT SWITCHES AND THE LIGHTS The following table uses pairs of circuit diagrams to show how you can add the HD 30 dimmer to an existing circuit In the more detailed description of installing the dimmer we will return to the letters used to identify the various connections Existing wiring Wiring with an HD 30 added with two way switch gi oL lg with on off switch eo L oN To adjust the brightness manually you will require standard light switches The switches must be rated for 230 V and comply with VDE guidelines With the HD 30 you can also install several lights connected in parallel However the total power consumed by the lights must not exceed 300 VA Furthermore you can also connect up several light switches to the HD 30 These switches must also be connected in parallel at the HD 30 1 Replace your old switches with the new switches described above in order to prevent any malfunctioning due to erosion of contacts 2 Connect the lights and switches to the right hand insulating terminal in the housi
