Louvers r INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS i YPON Page 1 of 1 It s How You Finish Fypon manufactures two types of louvers decorative and functional Decorative louvers have closed non ventilating slats that do not allow air to pass through They are used for decorative purposes only to accent exterior sidewall applications Functional louvers accent exterior sidewall applications but also have open slats that allow for ventilation Materials Needed e Safety glasses e Tape measure e Hammer or Pneumatic Nailer e Nail Countersink e Corrosion Resistant Fasteners e Caulk Gun e Polyurethane Compatible Filler Exterior e Polyurethane Compatible Adhesive e Sandpaper e Pencil e Latex Paint e Ladder e Jig Saw For Functional Louvers To Install a Functional Louver 1 Position the louver against the siding in desired location and level 2 Using the louver as a template trace the outline of the louver as it rests against the siding Check to make sure your cut will not pass through studs and electrical lines 3 Cutan undersized hole 2 inside the outline of the louver 4 Attach the louver through the brickmould edge of the louver with fasteners and adhesive 5 Wipe off excess fill holes and paint To Install a Decorative Louver 1 Apply adhesive to the perimeter edge of the backside of the louver 2 Place the louver in position against the exterior sidewall of the home making sure it is level 3 Secure the louver through the br2. ickmould with fasteners 4 Wipe off excess adhesive 5 Patch holes amp touch up or paint General Installation Notes Any adhesives sealants fillers or paint used must be compatible with the material that is being installed see manufacturer s recommendations in the Finishing and Adhesives section below Always use corrosion resistant mechanical nails or screws along with manufacturer s recommended adhesive product when installing all Fypon products This combination provides a secure long lasting bond Countersink all fasteners about s and fill with product compatible filler Exterior installations should be finished using a manufacturer s recommended caulk to prevent water infiltration behind siding windows and doors Some exterior installations in particular new construction before siding is applied may require a J channel and or flashing to prevent water infiltration Installers must determine which installation technique is best for the specific situation Finishing and Adhesives Polyurethane PUR Fypon polyurethane products are factory primed Depending on product location always use interior exterior grade PUR compatible adhesives sealants and fillers when installing Fypon products Consult the manufacturer s recommendations for your particular climate and the substrate you are installing to Cellular PVC Depending on product location always use interior exterior grade PVC compatible adhesives sealants and fille
