5. 13 Press the PLAY PAUSE II button to start play aS TR MEMORY 00 01 When all programmed selections have been played the first programmed track on DISC 1 will appear and MEMORY will blink e Theprogram contents are retained in memory e The maximum number of selections that can be programmed is 60 If you try to enter more selections FULL blinks on the display e The program is cleared when the STOP button is pressed in the stop mode CHECKING THE PROGRAM Each time the PROGRAM button is pressed in the stop mode the programmed details sequentially appear on the display CHANGING APROGRAM To add anew selection to a program 1 In the stop mode press the PROGRAM button repeatedly until 00 on the track section appears on the display 2 Selectadisc and track number as explained above 3 Pressthe PROGRAM button To change a selection 1 Inthe stop mode press the PROGRAM button repeated until the selection to be replaced is displayed 2 Selectadisc andtrack number as explained above 3 Pressthe PROGRAM button Note Programmed tracks cannot be deleted individually E14 ENGLISH CASSETTE OPERATION LOADING AND UNLOADING CASSETTES Follow these steps to load and unload cassettes 1 2 Press the STOP EJECT button 9 Insert a cassette with desired side facing you tape surface down Avoid touching tape Closecassette holder tape deck cover To ensure firm locking of cassette

HONES ECHO When either or both microphones are plugged into the Microphone Jacks 3 their output is mixed with the playback from cassette tapes Adjust MIC VOLUME 2 for the best balance between playback and microphone levels Adjust ECHO 4 to add depth and richness to vocals 3 Adjust MASTER VOLUME ECHO AND PITCH Controls to your satisfaction Your voice will be combined with the music and will beheard throughthe loudspeakers 4 With Singing Machine or similar multiplex cassettes you can sing duets along with the recorded artist and background music You can also eliminate the vocal track and do a solo performance with the background music by turning the BALANCE Control 8 RECORDING TO TAPE 1 Load ablank cassette in Tape Deck 1 2 Load a Singing Machine or any other prerecorded tape into Tape Deck 2 3 Start Tape Deck 2 by pressing the PLAY button 4 Press both RECORD and PLAY button of Tape Deck 1 at the same time The combined output of your voice and the playback of Tape Deck 2 will be recorded on the blank tape in Tape Deck 1 ENGLISH ENGLISH CASSETTE OPERATION RECORDING CD or CDG Disc s Audio only Video is not possible 1 Load a blank cassette in Tape Deck 1 2 Load a Singing Machine or any other prerecorded CD CDG disc into the CD compartment drawer 3 Press FUNCTION SELECT button to select the CD function Press the SKIP button to the desired track number you wish to record fr

OTE Screwdrivers and other metal objects should never be allowed to come in contact with tape heads These will scratch the sensitive surface causing damage to yourtapes Magnets or magnetized objects should not be placed near tape heads COMPACT DISC Handling Disc Although the musictracks in the disc are covered with a protective layer it is still advisable to treat the disc carefully Ensure that you always pick up discs by the edge and put them back in their holders immediately after use To prevent fire or shock hazard disconnect your stereo system from the AC power plug when cleaning CLEANING DISC Cleaning will notnormally be necessary However should fingerprints dust or dirt appear you can wipethem off with a soft lint free cloth Wipe the disc in a straight line from center to edge You can moisten the disc first with ordinary tap waterif necessary NOTE detergent or abrasive cleaning agents for they can damage the disc Do not use the AN CD PLAYER The player mechanismis fitted with self lubricating bearing and must not be oiled or greased ENGLISH ENGLISH TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE If you have followed the instructions and are having difficulty operating the unit locate the PROBLEM in the left column below Check the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE column to locate and remedy the problem PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION No power when No power plug connection at Insert the

PE function then load cassettes into both decks 5 Depress PLAY button of Deck 2 which will begin to play Depress PAUSE button of Deck 1 then the PLAY button of Deck 1 When Deck 2 stops either by the pressing of the STOP EJECT button or because the tape reaches its end Deck 1 will begin to play MICROPHONES ECHO When either or both microphones are plugged into the Microphone Jacks 3 their output is mixed with the playback from cassette tapes Adjust MIC VOLUME 2 for best balance between playback and microphone levels SING ALONG WITHATAPE 1 Following instructions for PLAYBACK a Turn on POWER 1 b Press FUNCTION SELECT button to select the Tape function then load cassette s into Tape Deck 1 Tape Deck 2 or both Decks 5 c Depress PLAY button s 10 of Deck 1 or Deck 2 d Adjust MASTER VOLUME 6 and BALANCE 8 controls to your pleasure e Adjust PITCH Tape Speed 7 control if desired This will alter pitch and tempo If music is too high for your voice slow down the tape and it will lower the pitch If too low speed up tape and pitch will raise You will feel a distinct click when the PITCH knob is re centered f To stop tape on either Deck press STOP EJECT button 9 on that Deck once Pressing a second time will eject that tape When tape reaches its end that deck will automatically stop and its PLAY button will be released E16 2 Follow instructions for MICROP

18. lose to the SMG 301 unit CARE AND MAINTENANCE POWER SWITCH After using the SMG 301 turn off the power by pressing the POWER button CLEANING THE UNIT To clean the exterior of the unit simply wipe with a soft clean cloth moistened with plain lukewarm water CLEANING TAPE HEAD When the tape is running magnetic tape residue powder and dust naturally accumulate on the tape deck heads capstan and pinch roller when they become too dirty you will find e Sound quality deteriorates e The output sound level drops e previous recording is not completely erased e Recording is not performed satisfactorily Therefore for continued high performance from the cassette section periodically clean the heads pinch rollers and capstans whenever an accumulation of dust and red brown oxide particles is noticed To do this open the cassette compartments Carefully rub each head 4 5 8 pinch roller 3 7 and capstan 2 6 with a cotton swab 1 moistened with isopropyl alcohol or special head cleaning fluid 1 2 1 i 2 QL 5 4 3 8 7 Proprietary tape head cleaners are available from most HI FI retail outlets CASSETTE DECK CARE Use a clean soft cloth moistened with plain lukewarm water and wrung dry Never use benzol benzene or other strong chemical cleaners since these could damage the finish or your unit It is important that no liquid reaches the inside of the unit E18 N
19. ng in the Singing Machine when you are making these connections so you will see the lyrics on the Screen as soon as you have the setup completed correctly You must specify the source you wish to view when you are connecting the video out from the Singing Machine to either a TV or a VCR Every TV and VCR manufacturer accomplishes the set up a little differently Even though every TV and VCR is a little different the general idea is the same if you have two sources of video signal cable or antenna and Singing Machine you haveto specify which one is displayed on the screen If you have never used the video input RCA jack on your TV VCR you should consult your TV VCR user guide If you don t have the manual for your TV or VCR we suggest calling the customer service department for your manufacturer They will be able to tell you very quickly howto configure your TV or VCR to display the video connection The three most common ways to set up the TV VCR are 1 A Video button may be on the TV VCR or on the remote control Pressing Video may display the input from your Singing Machine 2 Try looking for a Video channel between the regular channels on your TV VCR Do this by setting the channel on the TV VCR to channel 2 then pressing the Down channel button to see if there is a Video In or Line In between the lowest channel and the highest channel on your system 3 The configuration may also be located in the set up menu on th

22. of the terminology associated with consumer electronics products a few additional terms are used almost exclusively in karaoke These terms are meant to familiarize you with the world of Karaoke The features listed below may not necessarily pertain to the particular model Singing Machine that you have The following are some brief explanations of karaoke terms Echo Echo adds depth and resonance to a singer s voice without affecting the music This echo is produced by creating minor controlled feedback in the singer s voice Multiplex Recording Our multiplex recordings contain 2 copies of the same song One version is a stereo recording of the song without the lead singer The second version is recorded with the music and background vocals on the left channel and the lead singer recorded on the right channel This split track recording allows you to control the volume of the lead singer by adjusting the balance control You can sing a duet with the lead singer or use the lead singer as a guide as you learn the song gradually fading them out with the balance control until you are able to sing the song on your own Auto Voice Control AVC When the AVC function is activated the vocals on a multiplex recording are eliminated as soon as the singer begins singing into the microphone When the singer stops singing the vocals on the multiplex recording are automatically re activated This useful function is used primarily during practice se
