Ifyou leave the unit after the tape has been wound or rewound the batteries will be consumed rapidly Be sure to depress IPM eject stop The tape moves faster in the REVIEW mode than in the P CUE mode Note If the tape is completely rewound while searching backward during playback REVIEW the CUE 4 gt gt REVIEW switch may not return to the center position when you release the switch In this case push back the switch to the center to start playback To increase the playback speed Slide the FAST PB switch in the direction of the arrow The playback speed will be increased To return to the original speed slide the FAST PB switch to the original position Using Various Functions E Tape counter Before recording press the reset button of the TAPE COUNTER to return to 000 It is useful to find the beginning of the recording Tape speed Select the desired tape speed using TAPE SPEED 2 4 cm for optimum sound recommended for normal use A 60 minute recording can be made using both sides of the MC 60 microcassette 1 2 cm for longer recording time a 120 minute recording can be made using both sides of the MC 60 microcassette Note Play back a tape with the same tape speed as that used for recording If you are going to play back the recorded tape using another unit select the 2 4 cm tape speed for recording Otherwise the sound quality may be changed VOR Voice Operated Rec

16. ed position press CUE MARKER to record a signal The REC lamp goes off and a signal will be recorded on the tape If you want to record a signal longer than that press CUE MARKER as long as you want During cue and review you will hear the beep sound at the signal position During playback you will hear the signal with low frequency sound at the signal position Notes We recommend recording cue markers when there is a break in the sound During cue and review the beep sounds differently The beep may sound differently depending on the marked position on the tape because the winding speed varies from the beginning to the end of the tape At the end of the tape In the recording or playback mode the tape stops at the end of the tape and the locked buttons will be released automatically Automatic shut off mechanism After fast forward or rewind be sure to set CUE lt 4 REVIEW back to the center Recording Playback with the Connected Equipment Notes When connecting cords be sure you connect plugs firmly The example uses Sony products If you have any problem when using other products read the instruction manual of those products Recording from another tape recorder G 3 Set this unit to the recording mode and another tape recorder to the playback mode In this case set VOR to OFF Dubbing onto another tape recorder G Set this unit to the playback mode and another tape recorde

19. ording Set VOR to L or H Press O record and the unit automatically starts recording the sound and pauses when there is no sound you can save tapes and batteries H To record at meetings or in a quiet place L To record for dictation or in a noisy place When you use this system in a noisy place the unit stays in the recording mode If the sound is too soft on the contrary the unit will not start recording Set VOR to L low or H high depending on the conditions When you do not use this function set VOR to OFF Notes The VOR system depends on the environment conditions If you cannot get the desired results set VOR to OFF When using the VOR system the unit starts recording only when a sound is detected therefore the beginning of the word may not be recorded For an important recording we recommend setting VOR to OFF To monitor the sound Connect an earphone supplied firmly to the EAR jack The sound for monitoring cannot be adjusted by VOL Start recording during playback Press O record during playback recording starts immediately It is useful when you want to re record the portion which was just recorded Review the portion just recorded Push up CUE gt gt REVIEW toward PREVIEW during recording Release the button at the point to start playback Recording cue markers While recording you can record a special signal on the tape to mark a specific position At the desir
20. r to the recording mode Recording with an external microphone G Connect a microphone to MIC When using a plug in power system microphone the power to the microphone is supplied from this unit gt Additional Information A A a a x cs PUT Precautions On power Operate the unit only on 3V DC For AC operation use the AC power adaptor recommended for the unit Do not use any other type For battery operation use two size AA R6 batteries On the unit Use only the Microcassette standard microcassetes with this unit Non standard cassette cannot be used because the L dimension see Fig is different To prevent a tape from being accidentally recorded over see Fig F Break out and remove the cassette tabs To reuse the tape for recording cover the tab hole with adhesive tape Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources or in a place subject to direct sunlight excessive dust or mechanical shock Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit remove the batteries or disconnect the AC power adaptor and have the unit checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further When you do not use the unit for long remove the batteries to avoid damage caused by battery leakage and subsequent corrosion If the unit has not been used for a long time set it in the playback mode and warm it up for a few minutes before inserting a tape Keep personal credit ca
