2. erret USE NUMERIC KEYS TO PROGRAM TRACKS CANCEL DELETES THE LAST STEP Ml DELETES A Selected track number To correct the program press A V e e to move S to the track to be corrected then press TV VIDEO CANCEL The track is erased and the subsequent programmed tracks move up Pressing liil STOP T clears all the programmed tracks 5 Press p gt PLAY e to start program play back With an Audio CD disc the program table remains on the TV screen during pro gram playback Pressing ON SCREEN brings up the status bar When all of the programmed tracks have finished playback the RDV 1050 stops and the program table appears again Note that the program remains NOTE During program playback you cannot edit the program contents To Check the Program Contents During playback press Ii STOP ET Playback stops and the program table is shown When the RDV 1050 is playing back an Au dio CD and the program table is not shown you can bring up the table by carrying out steps to 3 During DVD Audio SVCD Video CD play back you can check the program contents via the menu bar To stop program playback Press BI STOP To clear the program While stopped and the program table is shown press Bil STOP To exit the program mode After clearing the program press ON SCREEN e NOTES When the disc tray is opened or the RDV 1050 is turned off the program is cleared If y
3. 5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 if you want to set other speakers When you use the small speakers which do not fully reproduce the low frequency range you can boost up the low frequency signal of the subwoofer or front speakers by setting the BASS REDIRECT function 6 Press A V to select BASS REDIRECT and press ENTER 7 Press A V to select SUB WOOFER or FRONT L R and press ENTER SUB WOOFER The low frequency signal from the subwoofer output is boosted FRONT L R The low frequency sig nals from the front speaker outputs are boosted There is no signal from the subwoofer output To return to the SPK SETTING page press A Y to move hS to RETURN and press ENTER NOTES The BASS REDIRECT setting works only when at least any one of the speaker sizes is set to SMALL No audio is output from the SUB WOOFER jack when FRONT L R is se lected If the front speaker size is set to SMALL the BASS REDIRECT setting is automatically set to SUBWOOFER DVD AUDIO discs may not play correctly depending on the settings of the RDV 1050 or the disc itself Setting the Delay Time Often in multi channel systems it is not pos sible to locate all the speakers at an equal dis tance from the listener The Delay Time set ting of the RDV 1050 can compensate for the differences in the distance from the front left right speakers the center speaker and the sur round speakers to the listener NOTE This setting can only compensate for dif

About This Manual Throughout this manual the controls and com ponents of the RDV 1050 are identified with numbers and letters in dark gray circles and squares Numbers in circles such as identify items on the RR DV96 remote control To help you remember this think of round equals remote Numbers in squares such as EJ identify items on the front and rear panel of the unit Letters in squares such as EN identify items in the front panel display window In the operation section of the manual some function descriptions apply only to certain kinds of discs The types of discs to which the infor mation applies are indicated with symbols such as pvp About the RDV 1050 Thank you for purchasing the Rotel RDV 1050 It will provide years of enjoyment when used in a high quality home theater system The RDV 1050 is one of the most flexible com ponents you can add to your audio video sys tem In addition to DVD Video discs the RDV 1050 can play Video and audio CD discs recorded in a variety of formats It provides a full range of operating features and con trol functions Angle function You can select a desired angle from multiple camera angles recorded on the DVD disc Zoom function You can view scenes close up Parental lock You can restrict the playback of DVD discs with scenes which you do not want your child to see such as adult or violent films Video Fine Processor VFP controls You can adjust man

Basic JPEG Operations To See a Specific Picture When inserting a JPEG disc after the disc con tents are read the JPEG CONTROL display automatically appears on the TV screen You can select a file for viewing with this display JPEG CONTROL Group 01 10 File 01 06 Total 28 Spring begonia jpg 1 Make sure that the black cursor bar is in the left group column If it is in the right column press p gt PLAY e to move it to the left column Press A Y D to move the bar to a desired group On the right column files NO in the selected group are shown Press 4 lt 4 PPI to select a file then press ENTER D The selected file still pic ture is shown on the TV If the selected file Co is unplayable a black screen appears NOTES You can also select a desired file by pressing p gt PLAY e lo move the black bar to the right file column then us ing A Y D If the selected file is unplayable a black screen appears To display another picture press I PI or A V to select it To dismiss the picture press lii STOP f or MENU The TV screen returns to the JPEG CONTROL display NOTES The RDV 1050 supports the baseline JPEG format The RDV 1050 does not support packet writing UDF format discs The RDV 1050 supports discs recorded with multiple sessions The RDV 1050 may not be able to read some discs or may take a long time to dis play a picture on

S video A video signal which improves picture qual ity over standard composite connections Used on Super VHS DVD high end TV monitors etc Track The smallest division on SVCD Video CD and Audio CD discs Composite Input TV Connection Connect the COMPOSITE VIDEO RJ output to the composite video input of your TV Con nect the ANALOG AUDIO EE outputs to the audio inputs of your TV A cable for these con nections is supplied If your TV has a single monaural audio input instead of a pair of stereo inputs you need to use a Y cable adapter to connect the two output channels of the RDV 1050 to the single input You can improve the sound quality of the sys tem by connecting the audio outputs to a sepa rate hi fi audio system See the following sec tion S Video Input TV Connection IF your TV has an S video input you should connect it to the S VIDEO output of RDV 1050 using an S video cable This will produce better picture quality Component Input TV Connection If your TV has component video signal input jacks you will get better video performance by using the COMPONENT VIDEO EE ovt put jacks of the RDV 1050 The required cable is not provided Be sure to connect the Y out put to the Y input PB output to the Pe input and the Pr output to the PR input NOTES The component signal inputs on some TV s have BNC type connectors BNC connectors are coaxial connectors that h
