Note When constructing the framed opening please ensure there is access to install the gas lines when the unitis installed See diagram 3 for details 2 For exterior walls insulate the enclosure to the same degree as the rest of the house apply vapour barrier and drywall as per local instal lation codes Do not insulate the fireplace itself 3 The unit does not have to be completely enclosed in chase The clearance on top of the unit from the top standoffs is 0 so combusti ble building materials can be laid directly on top of the standoffs You must maintain clearances from the vent to combustible materials See Clearances section Combustible materials can be laid against the side and back standoffs and the stove base Note When installing this fireplace there are two warnings on the front face of the unit The areas indicated here are painted black and indicate that no nails screws or other punctures can be made at these points as there are sensitive electronic components directly behind these markings Regency L900E Direct Vent Gas Fireplace 11 Z gt E gt Z O x x o Z INSTALLATION UNIT ASSEMBLY PRIOR TO INSTALLATION The Top Facing Support the Side Nailing Strips and the 2 Top Standoffs must be correctly positioned and attached to the top before unit is slipped into position TOP STANDOFF ASSEMBLY The top standoffs are shipped in a flat posit

LLI lt 10 Replace the control box 11 Reverse steps 9 to 1 When re connecting wire harnesses Ensure that the cables match the letters labelled on the control box and are securely connected Jumper Cable B DO NOT REMOVE 38 Regency L900E Direct Vent Gas Fireplace MAINTENANGE VALVE TRAY REPLACEMENT 1 Remove the exterior brick panels 3 Loosen the screw that holds the right side 8 Remove the grate by undoing the 2 screws heat shield in place on the right and left side 2 Remove the glass door a Release the 2 door latches on the left and right side at the top of the firebox Mr ED Latch Location Grate Heat Shield 9 Remove the front burner by removing the Latch screw 4 Lift up and pull out the heat shield slightly to clear the screwheads and then hang it on the top bracket located directly above the heat shield 5 Disconnect both sources of power the power cord located on the left hand side of the firebox and the wires connected to the back up battery located on the right side of the firebox Swing the door outfrom the top andrelease the hinges on the left and right side of the door by lifting them up Backup Battery Door Power Receptacle lt gt Z m Z gt Z O Front Burner Removed Ai 10 Remove the back burner by removing the screw c Place the door on asoftsurface to prevent scratching 6 R

Remove any bird nests or other foreign material 3 Check for evidences of excessive condensation such as water droplets forming in the inner liner and subsequently dripping out the joints Continuous condensation can cause corrosion of caps pipe and fittings It may be caused by having excessive lateral runs too many elbows and exterior portions of the system being exposed to cold weather 4 Inspect joints to verify that no pipe sections or fittings have been disturbed and consequently loosened Also check mechanical supports such as Wall Straps or plumbers tape for rigidity LOG REPLACEMENT The unit should never be used with broken logs Turn off the unit and allow the unit to cool before opening door and carefully remove the logs If for any reason a log should need replacement you must use the proper replacement log The position of these logs must be as shown in the diagrams under Log Installation Note Improper positioning of logs may create carbon build up and will severely alter the unit s performance which is not covered under warranty GLASS GASKET If the glass gasket requires replacement use a tadpole glass gasket Part 936 155 DOOR GLASS Your Regency fireplace is supplied with high temperature 5mm Ceramic glass If your glass requires cleaning we recommend using an approved glass cleaner available at all authorized dealers Do not use abrasive materials CAUTION amp WARNINGS Do n

15. is perfectly normal due to the fact that there are various gauges and types of steel used within your appliance Listed below are some examples All are normal operating sounds and should not be considered as defects in your appliance Burner Tray The burner tray is positioned directly under the burner tube and logs and is made of a different gauge material from the rest of the firebox and body Therefore the varying thicknesses of steel will expand and contract at slightly different rates which can cause ticking and cracking sounds You should also be aware that as there are temperature changes within the unit these sounds will likely re occur Again this is normal for steel fireboxes Pilot Flame While the pilot flame is on it can make a very slight whisper sound Gas Control Valve As the gas control valve turns ON and OFF a dull clicking sound may be audible this is normal operation of a gas regulator or valve Unit Body Firebox Different types and thicknesses of steel will expand and contract at different rates resulting in some cracking and ticking sounds will be heard throughout the cycling process OPERATION DURING POWER OUTAGE In the event of a power failure the unit will be fully functional for the first 45 minutes using the backup battery system If power resumes within the first 45 minutes you can continue using the unit as normal If power is restored after 45 minutes you will need to rese
16. screws Vinyl siding standoff Wall Thimble required Diagram 5 The four wood screws provided should be re placed with appropriate fasteners for stucco brick concrete or other types of sidings Before connecting the horizontal run of vent pipe to the vent termination slide the Wall Thimble over the vent pipe The wall thimble is required for all horizontal terminations Slide the appliance and vent assembly towards the wall carefully inserting the vent pipe into the vent cap assembly Itis important that the vent pipe extends into the vent cap sufficient distance so as to result in 8 minimum pipe overlap of 1 1 4 inches 32mm Secure the connection between the vent pipe and the vent cap 10 Install wall thimble in the center of the 11 279mm square and attach with wood screws Diagram 7 wood screws gt Diagram 7 NOTE A Vent Guard is required when the AstroCap is installed above grade at 7 feet or lower 23 Z gt gt Z INSTALLATION UNIT INSTALLATION 4 Assemble the desired lengths of pipe and elbows Ensure that all pipes and elbow WITH VERTICAL connections are in the fully twist locked position and sealed TERMINATION Note pr Rig id Vent Sy stems For best results and optimum performance Note clearance of 2 51mm must be with each approved venting system it is lt ma
17. to PT en EE NO EN z 3 E 4 gt 2 0 y e Vent must be supported at offsets e Firestops are required at each floor level and whenever passing through a wall e Maintain clearances to combustibles as listed in the Clearances section e Refer to Vent Restrictor Position section for details on how to change the vent restrictor to Set 1 Set 2 or Set 3 if required Note Must use optional flue adapter when using Rigid Pipe Part 770 994 22 Regency L900E Direct Vent Gas Fireplace INSTALLATION Horizontal runs of vent must be supported every 3 feet 0 9meter Wall straps are available for this purpose UNIT INSTALLATION WITH HORIZONTAL TERMINATION Rigid Vent Systems 6 Mark the wall for a 11 x 11 279mm x 279mm square hole The center of the square hole should line up with the center line of the horizontal pipe Cut and frame the 11 inch 279mm square hole in the exterior wall where the vent will be terminated See diagram 2 for center line requirements Atop clearance of 3 76mm and side amp bottom clearance of 2 51mm must be maintained except when passing through a wall ceil ing or at the termination where the use of a firestop or wall thimble reduces the required clearance to 1 1 2 38mm We recommend framing a 11 279mm x 11 279mm inside dimensions hole to give structural rigidity for mounting the termination If the wall being penetrated is cons
18. warranty policy Any unit which shows signs of neglect or misuse is not covered under the terms of this warranty policy The warranty will not extend to any part which has been tampered with or altered in any way or in our judgment has been subject to misuse improper installation negligence or accident spillage or downdrafts caused by environmental or geographical conditions inadequate ventilation excessive offsets negative air pressure caused by mechanical systems such as furnaces fans clothes dryer etc Freight damage to stoves and replacement parts is not covered by warranty and is subject to a claim against the freight carrier by the dealer FPI will not be liable for acts of God or acts of terrorism which cause malfunction of the appliance Performance problems due to operator error will not be covered by this warranty policy Products made or provided by other manufacturers and used in conjunction with the operation of this appliance without prior authorization from FPI may nullify your warranty on this product Any alteration to the unit which causes sooting or carboning that results in damage to the interior exterior facia is not the responsibility of FPI Subsidy according to job scale as predetermined by FPI Regency L900E Direct Vent Gas Fireplace 43 FPI fireplaces are designed with reliability and simplicity in mind In addition our internal Quality Assurance Team carefully inspects each unit thoroughl
