ISE RED to ON p 12 The picture is in black and white To replay a video cassette check that it is recorded in the same format as that of the video recorder PAL SECAM or NTSC Check the colour setting in the menu No sound If certain programmes have a picture but no sound it is most likely that the correct TV system has not been selected p 6 In radio mode check that the aerial is properly connected If reception is poor use an external aerial Standby When you switch on the set if it remains in standby mode and the LOCKED message is displayed this means that the LOCK function is activated p 13 The set switches automatically to standby if it receives no signals for a period of 15 minutes To save electricity your set is equipped with low energy consumption components which limit energy consumption when the set is on standby less than 3 VV Still having problems If the set breaks down never try to repair it yourself Consult your after sales service department instead Recycling The materials used in your set are either reusable or can be recycled To minimise environmental waste specialist companies collect appliances and dismantle them retrieving any materials that can be used again ask your dealer for further details

13. ect the characters Press en once the name is entered The name of the station is stored Repeat the operation for each radio station you wish to name To exit the menus press the key L9 1883 1 GB 1 8 15 11 00 13 10 Page 9 r A Te General use Choice of TV or radio mode Your set may receive both TV programmes and FM radio stations The key on the remote control is used to switch between TV mode and radio mode TV mode The TV programmes appear on screen Radio mode The television screen is off The sound from the radio comes out of the speakers on the left and right of the set Note in radio mode the key gives direct access to a limited number of settings and the INSTALLATION menu is specific to the radio reception Selecting the programmes TV mode Use the PO O or keys to select the programmes from 0 to 59 The number and sound mode are displayed for a few moments on the screen To compose a two figure number using the numerical keys 00 add the 2 figure before the hyphen disappears The title of certain programmes appears for a few moments at the bottom of the screen To view a programme that has been locked enter the confidential code see p 13 EP Radio mode Use the PO or keys to select the FM radio stations from 1 to 40 The number frequency and sound mode are displayed for a few seconds before the screen goes blank List of radio stations In radio mode the
14. ertain countries the teletext pages will not be displayed properly Press amp i 00 14 Switch teletext on off Selecting a teletext page Direct access to subject headings Temporary on off Page enlargement Stop the sequence of sub pages Superimposition Reveal Favourite pages To obtain To call up or exit from teletext At first the main index page appears with a list of the items available Each page has a corresponding 3 figure number If the selected channel does not broadcast teletext 100 will appear and the screen will remain blank in this case exit from teletext and choose another channel Use keys to O or AQ to enter the page number required For example for page 120 press 0 The number is displayed in the top left corner the page counter starts searching and the page is displayed Repeat the procedure to consult another page If the counter continually searches this means that the selected page is not broadcast Choose another number Coloured zones are displayed at the bottom of the screen The 4 coloured keys give access to the corresponding subjects or pages The coloured zones flash when the subject or the page is not yet available To switch teletext temporarily on off Press this key to display the upper then lower part of the screen and then return to the normal page size Some pages contain sub pages which follow on automatically fro
15. g is useful when reception is difficult Adjusting the sound DELTA VOL BALANCE TREBLE BASS AVL Storing settings P BASS AVL TV LOCK DEMO Press Use OQ and to adjust DELTA VOL BALANCE TREBLE BASS and AVL e DELTA VOLUME volume difference allows you to compensate for the volume differences between the different programmes or the EXT sockets This adjustment is available for programmes 1 to 40 and the EXT sockets e AVL Automatic Volume Leveler automatic volume control used to avoid sudden increases in volume particularly when changing programme or during advertisements You can store your own sound and picture settings First carry out your menu settings Next select PERSONAL and press gt The message STORED appears The settings are stored Values are saved under PERSONAL in the Smart sound and picture controls and W Note volume and DELTA VOLUME are automatically stored after a change of programme or when the set is put in standby They do not need to be stored in the PERSONAL menu Demonstration mode the set must be in TV mode PERSONAL TV LOCK TIMER INSTALLATION 12 This function displays the main functions of the television set Press en to bring up the main menu Select DEMO and press to switch the mode to ON Press to put the set on standby O Press P G to switch on and activate the demonstration mode The main functions of th

19. o not switch off the set using the on off button on the front of the set The set switches to standby automatically after 4 hours if no further commands are given ON OFF SET RESET O L aLarm _ Switching off the alarm When the alarm is on press lt gt RESET or on the remote control to switch off It will start up automatically 24 hours later at the programmed time In the ALARM mode press any key to interupt the alarm It will repeat 5 minutes later otherwise the alarm will run for 30 seconds before switching off for 5 minutes and then run for 30 seconds before stopping completely If you wish to turn off the alarm function completely press CO ALARM ON OFF The indicator is switched off 11 L9 1883 1 GB 1 8 15 11 00 13 10 Page 12 a A Te Adjusting picture and sound gt Adjusting the picture the set must be in TV mode BRIGHTNESS IIIII COLOUR LLLI CONTRAST _iiill SHARPNESS III TINT NORMAL Press Use OQ and to adjust BRIGHTNESS COLOUR CONTRAST SHARPNESS TINT CONTRAST and NOISE RED e SHARPNESS alters the crispness of the image e TINT alters the colour balance There are three options COLD blue tint NORMAL balanced or HOT red tint e CONTRAST automatically adjusts the contrast of the image according to content the darkest part of the image is always black e NOISE RED alleviates picture noise snowy picture This settin
20. ord scrambled transmissions You can connect any other apparatus to the EXT socket satellite receiver decoder DVD games etc The socket has audio and video input outputs and RGB inputs The headphones socket is on the right hand side of the set When the headphones are plugged in the sound on the set is cut off Adjust the volume using the GAH keys on the remote control or the 1 keys on the television The headphones must have an impedance of between 32 and 600 ohms To select connected equipment Press to select the EXT socket The switching is automatic on most appliances decoder etc 15 L9 1883 1 GB 1 8 16 15 11 00 13 10 Page 16 z A Te Tips Poor reception or no picture The proximity of mountains or high buildings can cause ghost pictures echoing or shadows If this is the case try re positioning the aerial or use an external one Try using FINE TUNE p 6 ensure the right system is selected p 6 Check that the aerial plug or euroconnector is properly connected Check also that the aerial is capable of receiving broadcasts in this frequency range UHF or VHF Is the set in TV mode Press QD Adjusting the picture If the picture is out of focus or if you are having difficulties finding the right settings select one of the Smart picture controls OD p 3 and store it using the PERSONAL setting p 12 In case of bad reception fuzzy picture set the NO
