3. clearence has been reaches Neck Tilt The neck tlt adjustment works in conjunction with the bridge height adjustment to set the overall siring playing height This adjustment should be used whenever possible to set string height rather than the bridge height adjustment 1 Relieve string tension slightly by detuning the instrument approx imately 1 to 2 full steps 2 Loosen the two neck screws closes to the bridge approximately 2 turns 3 Loosen remaining two neck screws closest to the bridge approx imately 2 turns 4 String height may now be adjusted with the neck ti screw which is located in the small hole in the neck plate A 1a Allen wrench is used to make this adjustment Turning the screw clockwise raises the end of the neck thus bringing the strings closer lo the fingerboard BRIDGE PICKUPS 121h FRET ISIFRET TORSION ROD NUT OUTPUT CONTROL PANEL NECK SCREWS JACK COVER Rear AND TILT ADJUSTMENT NOTE STRING HEIGHT SHOULD BE ADJUSTED TO FIT YOUR OWN PARTICULAR PLAYING STYLE IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT SETTING THE STRING HEIGHT TOO LOW WILL RESULT IN EXCESSIVE STRING BUZZ AND RAT TLE ESPECIALLY WITH A HEAVY PLAYING TECHNIQUE EXCESSIVELY HIGH ACTION WILL RESULT IN INTONATION PROBLEMS AND DECREAS ED PLAYABILITY 5 After adjustment securely Ughiten all four neck attaching screws being careful to balance the torque on all four screws equally 6 Tune the guitar to standard pitch Che

If this instrument develops a fuzzy sound or has low culput the battery should be changed To replace the battery simply remove the retaining screws from the control panel Cover at the rear of the body remove the old battery and replace it the cover and the screws There are no other user serviceable parts contained inside this instrument if problems occur take your instrument to a local Peavey dealer or authorized service agent for servicing as tampering may void your warranty The B Ninety Active and the B Ninety Passive Bess share the same controls The pickups may be used sinaly or in unison and are con trolled by individual volume controls anc one master tone control Each volume control is tone compensated to minimize high frequency loss at low volumes Humbucking mode is retained when one or both pickups are on Bridge The bridge of the B Ninety is constructed from black chrome plated 13 gauge steel and is securely bolted to the body at five points The four barraltype string saddles are made from heavy duty steel for maximum sustain and string stability and are fully adjustable for string height tit and intonation compensation see Adjustments Height and Intonation or instructions B Ninety Active is fitted with milled brass bridge with saddle tracks Controls 1 Volume Controls Volume controls for each pickup neck and bridge operate independently Rotating the control knobs clockwise wil increase volume ro

UITAR ADJUSTMENTS INTERACT CLOSELY WITH STRING INTONATION THESE ADJUSTMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE ANY ATTEMPT IS MADE TO SET STRING INTONATION AT THE BRIDGE 1 Ensure that the torsion rod bridge height and neck tilt adjustments have been made end are accutete 2 Tune the instrument to standard A 440 pitch 3 Hold the instrument in a normal playing position Do not exert any undue pressure on the neck as it will affect intonation settings 4 Play the first string open G and compare it to the pitch of the same string when itis played at the twelfth fret These notes should be the same 5 Using a Philips head screwdriver adjust the length of the first string saddle so that the open note and the fretted note or harmonic are the same NOTE IT WILL OFTEN BE NECESSARY TO RETUNE THE OPEN STRING TO STANDARD PITCH AFTER THE BRIDGE SADDLE POSITION IS ALTERED 6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the 2nd 3rd and 4th strings 7 Repeat steps 1 through 6 as necessary until intonation of all strings is accurately adjusted Temperature and Humidity Itisimportant that your instrument be protected from any extremes or sudden changes in either temperature or humidity The instrument should be stored in its case whenever it is not in use Strings String life may be greatly extended by frequent cleaning and wip ing after use Dirt and perspiration tend to build up on the underside ofthe strings soit is often necessary to slide a ra
7. ck strings for correct he and playability Ifnecessary repeat steps 1 through 5 until action is correct Saddle Height Adjustment The four individual bridge saddles work in conjunction with the neck tit agjustment to determine the overall string height Ordinarily the neck tilt should be used to set the string height However in dividual string saddles can be adjusted to follow the curvature 8 redius of the neck to optimize string tret distances and the proper radius curvature beween the neck and strings If you are unfamiliar with this type of adjustment we recommend that ihis setting be per formed by qualified personnel at your authorized Peavey dealer String Intonation Accurate string intonation settings ensure that your instrument will play in tune at any point on the neck Although perfect intonetion is a physical impossibility with a fretted instrument the correct set tings with the bridge and saddle combination of the instrument will maximize the accuracy of individual notes up and down the neck Intonation is set by comparing the pitch of an open string to the pitch of the same string when it is played one octave higher at the twelfth fret The actual vibrating length of that string is varied until the notes are both at the right pitch The vibrating length of the string is altered by adjusting the individual bridge saddles either tor ward or backward depending on whether the fretted note is sharper or
8. flatter in pitch than the open note If the fretted nota is sharper than the open note the vibrating length of the string must be increased move the bridge saddle to the reer away from the pickup if the fretted note is flat the vibrating length must be shortened move the bridge forward toward the pickup to shorten the length This instrument features four individual bridge saddles to allow ac curate intonation eompensation on each string NOTE IT IS OFTEN DIFFICULT FOR THE UNTRAINED EAR TO DETERMINE WHEN THE OPEN NOTE AND THE FRET TED NOTE ARE AT PRECISELY THE SAME PITCH EX AGTLY ONE OCTAVE APART SOME PLAYERS FIND THAT COMPARING THE TWELFTH FRET HARMONIC OF THE STRING RATHER THAN THE OPEN NOTE TO THE FRETTED NOTE IS MUCH EASIER A HARMONIC IS PLAYED BY PLUCKING THE STRING WITH THE RIGHT HAND WHILE TOUCHING THE STRING WITH THE LEFT INDEX FINGER AS LIGHTLY AS POSSIBLE DIRECTLY ABOVE THE TWELFTH FRET THE LEFT IN DEX FINGER IS DRAWN AWAY AS QUICKLY AS POSSI BLE AFTER THE STRING IS PLUCKED PRODUCING A CHIME EFFECT THIS CHIMED NOTE IS THEN COMPARED TO THE FRETTED NOTE FOR EVEN GREATER EASE AND A HIGH DEGREE OF ACCURACY WE RECONMEND ONE OF THE MANY TYPES OF ELEC TRONIC GUITAR TUNERS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FROM MOST MUSIC STORES THE TUNERS WHICH USE EITHER A METER OR A MOVING LED DISPLAY ARE USUALLY EASIER TO USE THAN THE TYPE WITH A NUMERICAL FREQUENCY READOUT SETTING INTONATION NOTE ALL G

11. ns you may attempt these adjustments yoursolt CAUTION PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUC TIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting Torsion Rod To set the straightness or relief ofthe neck a Peavey torsion rod wrench 75031001 must be used available from 2 Peavey Ac coesory Center 4 Tune the instrument to standard A 440 pitch 2 Check tor clearance between the strings 1 through 4 and the first fret IMPORTANT Use an accurate ruler or similar gauge for this measurement 3 This clearance should be no less than 1 32 and no mare than The at tho first frot 4 Check for clearance between the strings and the twelfth fret 5 This clearance should be no less than 146 and no more than 4 at the twelfth fret 6 To increase clearance loosen counterclockwise torsion rod nut To decrease clearance tighten clockwise the torsion rod nut The torsion rod nut is located underneath the plastic cover plate on the headstock CAUTION IT IS NOT USUALLY NECESSARY TO ROTATE THE TOR SION ROD NUT MORE THAN ONE FULL TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF TURN IS NORMALLY SUFFICIENT TO MAKE MOST AD JUSTMENTS EXCESSIVE ROTATION MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE NECK AND TORSION ROD IF EX CESSIVE FORCE IS NECESSARY TO ROTATE THE TOR SION ROD NUT YOU SHOULD CONSULT THE PEAVEY DEALER OR THE PEAVEY FACTORY BEFORE ANY FUR THER ADJUSTMENT IS MADE 7 Repeat steps 1 through 6 until proper
