READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS WARNING A risk of fire and electrical shock exists in all elec trical appliances and may cause personal injury or death Please follow all safety instructions Express Cordless Kettle USE AND CARE GUIDE FOR MODEL MEK1 IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire electric shock and injury to persons including the following Read all instructions before using kettle Do not touch hot surfaces Use handle This kettle is not for use by children e Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children Do not operate unattended Unplug from outlet when not in use Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning and putting on or taking off parts To disconnect raise lever to OFF position then remove plug from power supply Do not operate a damaged kettle Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug or after the kettle malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner Return kettle to nearest authorized service center for examination repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment Do not immerse cord plug power base or kettle in water or other liquid See instructions for cleaning Use attachments only if recommended by the manufacturer Do not use outdoors or while standing in a damp area Only use kettle as indicated in these instructions Do not l
3. emoving it from the power base To reheat water place kettle back onto power base and press lever into the ON position Be careful not to spill any water onto the power base Unplug the unit when not in use Allow it to cool before reuse Cleaning Your Express Kettle CAUTION Do not immerse kettle or power base in any liquid or place in a dishwasher to be cleaned 1 2 Turn off and unplug unit Allow it to cool before cleaning Remove the scale filter from inside the kettle by pushing it to the right or the left Rinse under running water and use a soft brush if necessary no metal brush Replace filter Rinse out the kettle with water and wipe it with a damp cloth NOTE Do not use highly corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents or brushes Wipe the power base unit with a damp cloth To remove any discoloration from inside the kettle rub baking soda on a damp cloth over the metal Rinse thoroughly and dry NOTE Mineral deposits can form a coating inside the kettle and may cause an off flavor in the water or lengthen the boiling time Use the following cleaning method 6 bb oO N In a bowl mix a diluted solution of one part vinegar to four parts water and pour into kettle Do not boil the solution in the kettle as it may damage the kettle Allow kettle to soak for 30 minutes Then clean with a soft non abrasive brush Empty out solution Fill the kettle with clean water and rinse thoroughly Cord Sto

6. ly Do not put any food or beverage into the kettle Before Using Your Express Kettle Thoroughly clean your kettle before using Fill the kettle to its max imum capacity 1 litre with water and boil See boiling instructions When the unit shuts off discard the water Rinse the kettle out with cold water Wait ten minutes to allow the heating element to cool Repeat this process two more times E N 10 11 Boiling Instructions Remove kettle from the power base Place power base on a level counter The power base must be dry before use Raise the lever into the OFF position Open the lid by pulling back on the lid release Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water Close the lid and wipe excess water off the kettle NOTE If the lid is not properly closed the kettle will not auto matically shut off Place the kettle on the power base engaging the connector into the bottom of the kettle Be careful not to spill any water onto the power base Plug the power base into any 120V 60 Hz electrical outlet Press the lever into the ON position the indicator light will come on When the water comes to a boil the kettle will automatically shut off and the indicator light will turn off NOTE The kettle can be turned off at any time during the heating process by using the ON OFF lever Remove the kettle from the power base before pouring NOTE Always wait until the unit is off before r
