To help you properly care for your sweeper the following pages include a maintenance schedule routine inspection procedures and simple maintenance procedures using basic hand tools Other service tasks that are more difficult or require special tools are best handled by professionals and are normally performed by a Honda technician or other qualified mechanic The maintenance schedule applies to normal operating conditions consult an authorized Honda servicing dealer for recommendations applicable to your individual needs and use Improper maintenance or failure to correct a problem before operation can cause a malfunction in which you can be seriously hurt or killed Always follow the inspection and maintenance recommendations and schedules in this operator s manual and the owner s manual included with the power unit FS7054 SWEEPER 15 MAINTENANCE amp ADJUSTMENTS MAINTENANCE SAFETY some of the most important safety precautions follow However we cannot warn you of every conceivable hazard that can arise in performing maintenance Only you can decide whether or not you should perform a given task WARNING Failure to properly follow maintenance instructions and precautions can cause you to be seriously hurt or killed Always follow the procedures and precautions in this operator s manual and the owner s manual included with the power unit Safety Precautions e Make sure the engine is off ignition key is r

F 0 C FS7054 SWEEPER 17 MAINTENANCE amp ADJUSTMENTS Drive Chain and Coupling Chain Lubricate chains with GL 4 or GL 5 SAE 80w90 hypoid gear oil Avoid getting any oil on the belt or pulley GIL COUPLING CHAIN Sweeper Lubrication Points After every 8 hours of operation use a good quality multi purpose grease to grease all 11 grease fittings the crank handle threads and bearing One or two pumps from a manual grease gun is sufficient D A n DE d i n D TTA d i ae lj if i i i l 1 m 5 GREASE BUT LER 1 NM BOTH SIDES BOTH SIDES 18 FS7054 SWEEPER Drive Chain Slack Loosen the bolt securing the adjustment roller so the roller is free to drop down The chain should have approximately 1 2 inch of slack at the location shown After adjustment tighten bolt securely Premature chain roller and sprocket wear will result if the chain is run without enough slack If the chain slack cannot be adjusted with the roller all the way down remove the 1 2 linkand re check slack Always install a new master link with the retaining clip positioned as shown If proper chain slack cannot be achieved with the 1 2 link removed and the roller all the way down replace the chain Gear Box Put the sweeper on a level surface 1 Removethe two wing nuts and left access cover 2 Usea 114 inch allen wrench and remove the oil check plug 3 The oil should flow out the plug hole If not fill wit

23. ace install a 5 16 x 2 inch bolt through the cable bracket and handle tube Then drill the second hole through the handle tube 3 Remove the cable bracket and deburr the drilled holes in the handle tube CABLE BRACKET 4 Putthe cable bracket and spacer into position and secure them with the throttle mounting screw 5 16 x 2 HEX BOLT and two 5 16 x 2 inch bolts washers and flange RSE SCREW nuts as shown H CABLE BRACKET a NN LE S SPACER 5 Route the cable behind the fuel tank and above the speed control arms FS7054 FRONT SWEEPER 29 INSTALLATION ANGLE RELEASE CABLE INSTALLATION continued 6 Secure cable to the throttle and choke cables with the cable tie 7 Once the cable has been positioned install it onto the bracket and tighten the bottom jam nut on the T handle 8 Putthe sweeper in the straight ahead position refer to page 8 9 Assemble the spring spring seat washer jam nut and clevis onto the sweeper end of the cable as shown Handtighten the jam nut and clevis onto the cable as far as they will go 10 Make sure the T handle and swing lever are all the way down With the clevis positioned over the hole in the swing pin lever rotate the clevis in 1 4 turn increments until the clevis pin can be installed Move the cable jam nuts up or down as needed until the cable can be installed onto the bracket Tighten the jam nuts together
