1. Basic Operations When this unit is turned on starting and stopping the engine of a car with its volume raised to the maximum level may harm your hearings Be careful about adjusting the volume NOTE Use this unit after starting the engine ACC or engine ON position Turning on the power and adjusting the volume NOTE Before turning on the power of this unit turn on the power of other connected equipment amplifier graphic equalizer etc 1 Rotate the Power switch 18 clockwise until a click is heard The power is turned on Power ON ra x A mode when the power was turned off last is set 2 Press the FUNC button 15 to select the oper ation mode w The mode switches in the following order each time the FUNC button t5 is pressed oe pra CD Changer CD The mode can be switched even while a CD in the CD insertion slot or in the CD changer is played Notes e If the CD changer is not connected CD changer mode cannot be selected e if no CD is loaded in the magazine during CD changer mode DISC flashes in the display v l v ie at i ie 2 y Note Be sure to read this chapter referring to the front diagrams of chapter 2 CONTROLS on page 3 spread 3 Adjust the volume by rotating the VOL Control knob f8 Volume up Rotate the knob clockwise Volume down Rotate the knob counterclockwise ON VOL pull BAL OFAD Li aged Turning off

3. 2 Press and hold the AS button 17 for 2 sec onds or longer Stations with good reception are automatically stored If there are fewer than 6 stations with good reception the stations previously stored at the remaining Preset buttons 1 to 6 are not cleared Preset scanning When the SCN button 17 is pressed the preset stations stored in the Preset buttons 7 1 to 6 are tuned in for 7 seconds each in the order in which they were stored When the preset station is tuned in the Preset indicator b of the corresponding Preset button lights If you want to select the station currently tuned in press the Preset button whose Preset indicator b lights lf the SCN button is pressed and held for 2 seconds or longer the auto store function is set A station that cannot be tuned in is skipped and the next preset station is tuned in Preset scan display Preset number Turning on and off the FM diversity When an FM station is tuned in each time you press the Direct 5 button 9 while pressing and holding the BAND button t1 double press FM diversity turns on and off When FM diversity is on DIV On lights and when off DIV OFF lights in the display FM diversity display pie r or Note e When two antennas are connected the FM diver sity should be ON When one antenna is con nected it should be OFF factory setting is ON Wrong setting may cause noise Area change

S 1 When the inside of the car is very cold and the player is used soon after switching on the heater moisture may form on the disc or the optical parts of the player and proper play back may not be possible If moisture forms on the disc wipe it off with a soft cloth If moisture forms on the optical parts of the player do not use the player for about one hour and the condensation will disappear naturally to allow normal operation 2 Driving on extremely bumpy roads which cause severe vibration may cause the sound to skip 3 This unit uses a precision mechanism Even in the event that trouble arises never open the case disassemble the unit or lubricate the rotating parts This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device pursuant to Part 16 of the FCC Rules These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a resi dential installation This equipment generates uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions may cause harmful interference to radio communications However there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on the user is encour aged to consult the dealer or an experienced radio TV tech
