1. 3. repaired or replaced at the discretion of B amp K Components Ltd upon its being returned to the Warrantor at 1971 Abbott Rd Buffalo N Y 14218 postage prepaid with a payment to cover the costs of return postage and handling This warranty shall not apply to any equipment which is found to have been improperly installed fused set up or used in any way not in accordance with instructions supplied with the equipment or to have been modified repaired or altered in any way without the expressed written consent of B amp K Components Ltd No implied warranty on this unit created by state law shall extend beyond the term of this warranty and B amp K Components Ltd shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages in the event of any defect in material or workmanship of the unit during the term of this warranty or thereafter Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages so the above exclusions may not apply to you No agent representative dealer or employee of the company has the authority to increase or alter the obligations or terms of this warranty This warranty gives you specific legal rights you may also have other rights which vary from state to state RETURN AUTHORIZATION Please note that the return of any product to B amp K Components Ltd for the purpose of warranty repair service or other reason requires a Return Authorization RA to be issued by B amp K

B amp K COMPONENTS LTD CS 115 Pre amplifier Operation Manual Introduction Thank you for purchasing a B amp K Components Lrd s CS 115 pre amplifier Your CS 115 carries many useful features including the same high quality components that are found in our other preamplifiers The CS 115 is manufactured with 1 metal film resistors and precision attenuators that ail add up to produce a transparent sound with highly accurate musical timbre The C5 115 is equipped with goldplated premium audio connectors and non inverting outputs Dual sets of pre amplifier output connectors are provided to ease bi amp applications or for an extra power amplifier As options the C5 115 may be configured with balanced line outputs phone inputs or an auxiliary line level input Passive or active operacion is selectable from the front panel The chassis constructed of heavy gauge steel and a 3 16 aluminium faceplate provide maximum structural integrity The CS 115 is manufactured for dependability and will provide many years of listening pleasure We encourage you to read this operation manual thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the C5 1 15 pre amplifier Read all instructions 2 Keep all units well ventilated 3 For extended periods of nonuse unplug the unit from the power source 4 Do not open the unit there are no user serviceable parts inside Contact your dealer or authorized service center for customer assistance 5
5. ndard 1 4 inch stereo plug can be connected to che HEADPHONE output The HEADPHONE output is active all the time however the MUTE button may be used to disable the main CS 115 outputs PRE OUT for private listening MUTE The MUTE button operates similar to a standard power button An LED indicator displays the MUTE status When the MUTE button is our LED off the CS 115 main outputs PRE OUT to the power amplifier are disabled and allows for private listening with headphones Note MUTE does not disconnect AC power fram the C5 115 but merely disables the outputs The continuously powered eps provides optimum sound quality and stablliry For this reason it is recommended that the CS 115 be plugged ince an unswitched AC outlet The MUTE button should be out and the VOLUME concrol fully counterclockwise when changing cha TAPE MONITOR or the DIRECT BYPASS burtons and when che C 115 is not in use POWER ENTRY MODULE The power cord is inserted into this module The CS 115 should be lugged into an unswitched AC outlet See MUTE under Front Panel Operation The fuse contained within the module is a 1 2 Amp Fast Blo and should only be re placed with the same type and rating BALANCED LINE OUTPUT CONNECTORS Optional If your unit is configured with balanced XLR connectors these are to ba used for connecting to the power amplifier pin ground pin 2 pin 3 Balanced connectors and cables provide maxi mum reduction of c
6. nnectors TAPE MONITOR Pushing this button selects monitoring of the tape recorder An LED indicator displays the TAPE MONITOR status When the LED is lit the TAPE MONITOR is on and indicates that playback or monitoring of the tape recorder is now active When the recorder is in playback made the C5 115 INPUT SELECTOR is disabled When the tape recorder is in the RECORD mode the CS 115 INPUT SELECTOR is used to select the program source that is to be recorded For additional information refer co your tape recorder operation manual DIRECT BYPASS This button selects the Active or Passive mode of operation In the Active mode button out the program source selected is processed through a 10 dB buffer amplifier The Passive mode button in bypasses the amplifler stage and only the VOLUME and BALANCE controls remain in the signal path the overall volume of the sound is reduced significantly in the Passive mode The difference in sound between these two modes is subjective and strictly a matter of personal taste VOLUME Turning this control clockwise increases the sound level of the CS 115 main outputs PRE OUT and the HEADPHONE ourpur BALANCE This control adjusts the relative volume of the left and right channels This affects the main CS 115 outputs PRE OUT and the HEADPHONE output Note The level of che tape recording outputs TAPE REC are unaffected by both VOLUME and BALANCE HEADPHONE Stereo headphones having a sta
7. ommon noise interference which can degrade clarity and low fi uency accuracy Proper balanced operation re quires that the power amplifier be also equipped with balanced input connectors Consult your authorized dealer concerning this option PRE OUT 2 Secs These connectors are the main C5 115 outputs that are connected to the power amplifier Twa sets are provided and may be used simultaneously The additional set is provided to simplify connection of bi amp systems or an extra power amplifier TAPE PLAY These input connectors are part of the tape loop system Sonne dak the PLAY outputs from your tape recorder to these inputs allows the recorder to be selected as the program source by using the TAPE MONITOR button See TAPE MONITOR un der Front Panel Operation TAPE REC These output connectors are also part of the tape loop system The recording program source as determined by the IN PUT SELECTOR an the front panel is provided at these connectors Connect the C5 1 15 TAP REC outputs to the RECORD inpurs on the tape recorder The TAPE REC outputs are not affected by the VOLUME or BALANCE controls The TAPE MONITOR button has no effect on the CS 5 TAPE REC outputs CD These are line level input connectors that are designated for a Compact Disc CD player TUNER These are line level input connectors that are designated for a stereo tuner such as the B amp K TS 108 FM Stereo Tuner LINE 1 These are line level input connecto
