3. gt 10 9 16 lt __ 2 prom AUDIO NPUTS DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT om 88 11 75cm zen 26 83cm BAGS BU pi OR amp o 500 1 15 16 __ 4 92 13 1 4 33 66cm Installation Installation The MCD1100 can be placed upright on a table or shelf standing on its four feet It also can be custom installed in a piece of furniture or cabinet of your choice The four feet may be removed from the bottom of the MCD1100 when it is custom installed as out lined below The four feet together with the mounting screws should be retained for possible future use if the MCD1100 is removed from the custom installation and used free standing The required panel cutout ventila tion cutout and unit dimensions are shown Always provide adequate ventilation for your MCD1100 Cool operation ensures the longest possible operating life for any electronic instrument Do not install the MCD1100 directly above a heat generat ing component such as a high powered amplifier If all the components are installed in a single cabinet a quiet running ventilation fan can be a definite asset in maintaining all the system components at the coolest possible operating temperature A custom cabinet installation should provide the following minimum spacing dimensions for cool operation Allow at least 2 inches 5 08cm above the top 2 inches 5 08cm below the bottom and 1 inch 2 54cm on each side of the SACD CD Player so that airflow

Disc Loaded and the Table of Contents read before the Random Playback Mode Feature can be activated 1 With the MCD1100 in the 5 Mode press the 18 Random Push button The word RANDOM will be indicated in the Information Display m m m Refer to figure 20 Ba us LM 2 Press the PLAY PAUSE Il Push button to start Random Playback After all the tracks have been played the MCD1100 will stop Notes 1 To provide continuous playback of the disc press the REPEAT Push button twice to activate the Disc Repeat GDAIl after the Random Playback Mode has started If Repeat GDI is selected the current track will repeat 2 The BACK TRACK M4 function will begin playback from the beginning of the current track 3 The NEXT TRACK WI function will advance to the next random selection and start playing 3 To cancel the Random Playback Mode press the STOPR Push button then press the RANDOM Push button Figure 20 Program Playback This feature allows for playback of selected Tracks on a Disc in the desired order In the following example a Disc is programmed to play Track 6 followed by Track 4 and then Track 2 Notes 1 The MCD1100 must be in STOP Mode with the Disc TOC Table of Contents read before the Program Playback Mode Feature can be activated 2 When programming Hybrid SACD Discs first choose the layer SACD or CD so the correct TOC can be read as some discs have different selections for

Figure 38 20 USB Input Operation with a Computer The MCD1100 USB Input provides the capability to playback music from a computer when the computer is connected to the rear panel USB connector The MCD1100 USB Input is compatible with PC Comput ers using Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 3 Vista with Service Pack 1 and Windows 7 and Apple Macintosh Computers using OS X with the latest update McIntosh has verified proper play back operation using Windows Media Player version 11 and iTunes version 10 When a disc in the computer is playing back the PLAY BP PAUSE IL NEXT TRACK BACK TRACK and Stop I Push buttons on the McIntosh Remote T 2 Control will control playback of the disc Note When computer applica tion programs and various computer hardware compo nents conform to the Micro soft Windows and Apple Macintosh standards they should also work well when used in conjunction with the MCD1100 USB Input If you are experiencing difficulty with a specific computer hardware component or computer application pro gram contact the manufac turer of the product McIntosh Figure 44 How to Operate the MCD1100 con t Operation in a McIntosh System The MCD1100 basic transport functions may also be controlled by using the Remote Control that comes with a McIntosh Control Center or Preamplifier McIntosh Keypads can also be used

24. htness The MCD1100 Front Panel Information Display has two brightness settings To Hi change from the default setting brightest of the two perform the follow ing 1 If the MCD1100 is playing a disc press the STOP EE Push button 2 Press and hold the TIME Push button until the brightness level of the two Front Panel Displays changes then release the TIME Push button Note Depending on the brightness setting before pressing the push button the intensity will go from high to low or low to high Figure 34 Resetting the MCD1100 In the unlikely event the MCD1100 stops functioning first try resetting the Main System microprocessor by performing the following 1 Simultaneously press and hold in the Front Panel TIME and DISC LAYER Push buttons until the illumination of the LED above the STAND BY Push button goes Off The MCD1100 will then switch Off 2 Press the STAND BY Push button to switch the MCD1100 back On If the MCD1100 is still not func tioning properly try resetting the Secondary Transport micropro cessor by performing the follow ing 5 1 If a disc is playing press the D STOPE Push button 2 Simultaneously press the Front Panel PLAY PAUSE P Push button and rotate the TRACK Control to the NEXT WI Rapid ly The Front Panel Information Display will momentarily indi cate INITIAL Refer to figure 6 on page 16 and figure 35 ED PAGE LEVEL GEN
