Then slide it up EJ When you hear a click the beltclip is firmly attached EJ To take the beltclip off the radio turn it upside down and slide it up UT919ZH MHS350 ENG QX 7 281 10 14 AM Page 10 Charging the Battery Pack Your marine radio is powered by a specially designed Ni MH battery pack e Before operating the MHS350 charge the Ni MH battery pack for 4 hours without interruption with the Adapter EN Plug one end of the AC adapter into the wall outlet and the other end into the Adapter jack on the side of the Charging Cradle FJ Make sure your radio is OFF and place the radio in the front of the Charging Cradle You can also charge another battery at the same time Place it in the back of the Charging Cradle EJ Charge the battery for about 4 hours Nz e The charger won t overcharge the battery pack x DP p When the LED on the Charging Cradle turn off RAU is charging is completed e The radio will not charge the battery while on and receiving incoming voice traffic and while transmitting e When you mount the Charging Cradle on your boat use the DC adapter instead e The jack is for charging only If the battery level is low the radio needs to charge before use e If the LED on the charging cradle flashes the battery might be broken Purchase Uniden BP350 battery see page 29 UT919ZH MHS350 ENG QX 7 281 10 14 AM Page 11
7. e See Controls and Indicators page 2 for button knob and key positions e When you turn On your MHS350 for the first time after purchasing it is automatically tuned to channel 16 the United States Coast Guard frequency for distress safety and calling From the second time the radio turned to the channel which was selected before you turn off the radio e When you press any button except PTT a short tone sounds Turning On the Unit and Setting Squelch EN Before you turn On the unit turn the squelch SQ knob fully counterclockwise FJ Then turn On the unit by turning the Volume Power VOL knob clockwise CD until you hear a hissing sound EJ Turn the SQ knob clockwise just until the Strong Signals hissing sound stops Use the knob to adjust m to the desired squelch level Think of the squelch control as a frequency gate which Weak Signals controls access to weak or strong signals Noise depending on its setting To listen to a weak or distant station turn the knob counter clockwise If reception is poor turn it clockwise to cut out weak transmissions _ W qe i qj Medium Signals gt e If the squelch control is adjusted so that you continually hear a hissing sound the unit will not scan properly EJ To turn Off the unit turn the VOL knob counterclockwise until it clicks 11 P UT919ZH MHS350 ENG OX 286 10 14 AM Pa
