1. 4 WIPE SCROLL The scene wipes in from the bottom to the top of a black screen or wipes out from top to bottom leaving a black screen WIPE SHUTTER Wipe in from the center of a black screen toward the top and bottom or wipe out from the top and bottom toward the center leaving a black screen FEATURES FOR RECORDING cont Set the Power Switch to M while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch 2 Open the LCD monitor fully or pull out the viewfinder fully 3 Press FADE WIPE The WIPE FADER screen appears 4 To activate the Fade in or Wipe in Rotate the MENU Wheel to select the desired effect and press it during Record Standby mode e The selected effect indicator appears To activate the Fade out or Wipe out Rotate the MENU Wheel to select the desired effect and press it during recording e The selected effect indicator appears 9 Press the Recording Start Stop Button to activate the Fade in out or Wipe in out To deactivate the selected effect Select OFF in step 4 Or set the Power Switch to vA NOTES e You can extend the length of a Wipe or Fader by pressing and holding the Recording Start Stop Button e Wipe Effects is not activated when the recording mode is set to HD IMPORTANT Some Wipe Fader Effects cannot be used with certain modes of Program AE or Special Effects If an unusable Wipe Fader Effect is selected its indicator blinks in blue or goes out

E Select the recording mode for best image recordings This digital HD video camera supports three recording systems modes the HD mode for HDTV the SD mode for progressive image rendering and the DV mode which is the same as for conventional digital video camera e f you use different modes to record images on the same MiniDV tape the image and sound will not be played back for several seconds after the mode is switched to another e It is recommended that you use the same mode throughout recording on a MiniDV tape It is also recommended that you identify which mode has been used by sticking the labels onto the tapes e No sound will be heard during playback for about a second from the start of a scene recorded in the HD or SD mode MPEG2 format The images are displayed e HD mode images may appear to move somewhat stiffly compared with SD mode or DV mode images This is because they are shot at a rate of 30 frames per second compared with the 60 frames per second for the SD mode or DV mode images e When shooting in dimly lit conditions in HD mode shutter speed changes to slower setting allowing more light As a result picture may exhibit slight trailing effect when panning or zooming the camera For details on the characteristics of each mode refer to page 21 in the instruction manual lil High speed search forward and reverse playback is possible for the images recorded in the HD mode MPEG2 format e During search playback
