7. arrying out any work on the hood including replacing the light bulb take the cartridge fuse out of the fuse holder or switch off the automatic circuit breaker It is very important to clean the hood and the grease filters at the recommended intervals Failure to do so could cause grease deposits to build up causing a fire hazard Safety warnings for user Controls Hood Operation The hood is fitted with a variable speed motor The most effective use ofthe hood is obtained by switching iton afew minutes before you start cooking and leaving iton afor approximately 15 minutes after you have finished thus ensuring all cooking odours are eliminated The control switches are located on the unit s front panel the light switch A switches the hood lamp on and off the motor switch B switches the cooking smoke and vapour extractor motor on and off enabling you to select one of the three different speeds Care and Maintenance Before performing any maintenance operation disconnect the hood from the electricity The hood has a metal grease filter Metal To clean the filter proceed as follows grease filter Open the grill by turning knob A fig 2 Pull the two plastic stops B as shown by the arrows fig 5 and remove the metal filter You should take out the metal filter every four weeks and wash it either in the dishwashing machine or by hand Clean the internal housing only with warm washing up water do not us
8. e any harsh cleaners brushes or abrasive Soak metal filter cassette for about one hour in hot water with a grease Hand washing loosening cleaner then rinse off thoroughly with hot water Repeat the process if necessary Re fit the cassette when it is dry Place metal filter cassette in dishwasher Select most powerful Dishwashing washing program and highest temperature at least 65 C Repeat the machine process Re fit the cassette when it is dry When washing the metal grease filter in the dishwasher a slight discoloration of the filter can occur Charcoal filter The charcoal filter must be changed at least every 4 months The charcoal filter cannot be washed or regenerated The hood can only work well in the recirculating mode ifthe AEG recommended filter has been used the filter is changed as recommended in this section and if the hood is cleaned and maintained as instructed in this booklet Therefore follow the instructions closely for best performance The charcoal filter deals with odours which are created during cooking Pull the two plastic stops B as shown by the arrows fig 5 and remove the metal filter New charcoal filters are available from AEG or your retailer it must not be washed To remove rotate the filter in anticlockwise Fig 3 Re fit the metal filter 77 a So SAY we XE N SE III We ie Pe 4 J Attent

10. ion Failure to observe the rules for cleaning the appliance and changing and cleaning the filters may cause fires Therefore we recommend you follow these instructions carefully Always turn off the electricity before replacing lamps 1 Remove the grid Fig 2 in order to check the lamps and replace them if necessary 2 Unscrew the lamps that do not work and replace them with 40W max lamps E14 If the light does not function check that the lamps are properly screwed before contacting a customers service centre Warning always disconnect the hood from the mains power supply before cleaning it Never insert pointed objects in the motor s protective grille Wash the outside surfaces using a mild detergent solution Never use caustic detergents or abrasive brushes or pow ders Only ever clean the switch panel and filter grille using adamp cloth and mild detergents It is extremely important to clean the unit and change the filters at the recommended intervals Failure to do so will cause grease deposits to build up that could constitute a fire hazard Attention Failure to observe the rules for cleaning the appliance and changing and cleaning the filters may cause fire Therefore properly observing these instructions is highly recommended Replacing the lamps Cleaning Special accessories See AEG price list for wallbox and hose accessories KF Plus charcoal filter E Nr 942 118 620 Technical assistance
11. sufficiently large ventilation hole must be provided with dimensions that are approximately the same as the outlet hole The air outlet must not be connected to chimney flues or combus tion gas ducts The air outlet must under no circumstances be connected to ventilation ducts for rooms in which fuel burning appliances are installed It is advisable to apply for authorization from the relevant control ling authority when connecting the outlet to an unused chimney flue or combustion gas duct The air outlet installation must comply with the regulations laid down by the relevant authorities National and regional building regulations impose a number of restrictions on using hoods and fuel burning appliances con nected to a chimney such as coal or oil room heaters and gas fires in the same room The local decree on fuel burning systems specifies a maximum depression of 0 04 mbar in such rooms Hoods can only be used safely with appliances connected to a chimney if the room and or flat air environment combination is ventilated from outside using a suitable ventilation hole approxi mately 500 600 cm large to avoid the possibility of negative pressure being created during operation of the hood If you have any doubts contact the relevant controlling authority or building inspector s office Since the rule for rooms with out fuel burning appliances is air inlet should be same size as extractor outlet hole an aperture of 500 6
