8. key see the drawing on page 15 and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes Then insert the key into the console After a moment the displays will light IMPORTANT In an emergency situation the key can be pulled from the console causing the walking belt to slow to a stop Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward if the key is not pulled from the console adjust the posi tion of the clip IMPORTANT If there are sheets of clear plastic on the console remove the plastic To prevent dam age to the walking platform wear clean athletic shoes while using the treadmill The first time you use the treadmill observe the alignment of the walking belt and center the walking belt if neces sary see page 24 Note The console can display speed and distance in either miles or kilometers To find out which unit of measurement is selected or to change the unit of mea surement see THE INFORMATION MODE on page 19 Note For simplicity all instructions in this section refer to miles 16 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER at the left Select the manual mode When the key is inserted FESTA the manual H H mode will be E selected If Track you have se lected a work out press either of the Workout Select buttons re peatedly until a track appears in the display Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start bu
9. pulse sensor and the optional chest pulse sensor at the same 17 time the console will not display your heart rate accurately For information about the optional chest pulse sensor see page 20 Before using the handgrip pulse sensor remove the sheets of clear plastic from the metal con tacts In addition make sure that your hands are clean Metal Contacts To measure your heart rate stand on the foot rails and place your hands on the metal contacts avoid moving your hands Hold the contacts for approximately ten seconds When your pulse is de tected the heart symbol in the display will begin to flash each time your heart beats one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate read ing continue to hold the contacts for at least 15 seconds Turn on the fan if desired The fan features high low and auto speed set tings Press the Fan button repeatedly to select a fan speed or to turn off the fan When the auto mode is selected the speed of the fan will auto matically increase and decrease as the speed of the walking belt increases and decreases Note If the fan is on when the walking belt is stopped the fan will turn off automatically after a few minutes The auto mode can be selected only while the walking belt is moving When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console Step onto the foot rails press the Stop button an
10. storage position 1 Raise the frame until the latch knob locks into the storage Tip the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the wheels Place one foot against a wheel and carefully lower the Hold the metal frame firmly in the location shown by the arrow at the right CAUTION To decrease the pos sibility of injury do not lift the frame by the plastic foot rails Make sure to bend your legs and keep your back straight as you raise the frame Raise the frame about halfway to the vertical position position Make sure that the latch knob is locked in the storage position To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of di rect sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the storage position in temperatures above 85 F 30 C Hold a handrail and place one foot against one of the wheels Carefully move the treadmill to the desired location Never move the treadmill without tipping it back To reduce the risk of injury use extreme caution while moving the treadmill Do not attempt to move the treadmill over an uneven surface treadmill until it is resting in the storage position HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 See drawing 2 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it It may be necessary to push the frame forward as you pull the knob to the left Pivot the frame downward

Washer 10 Repeat this step on the left side of the console assembly Start all four Screws and both Bolts before tightening any of them See steps 4 6 and steps 9 10 Tighten all the bolts used in these assembly steps 13 If necessary press the Left Accessory Tray 94 and the Right Accessory Tray 99 into the con sole assembly 12 14 Raise the Frame 53 to the position shown Have a second person hold the Frame until this step is completed Orient the Storage Latch 50 so that the large barrel and the Latch Knob 51 are in the posi tions shown Remove the tie from the upper end of the Storage Latch 50 Attach the upper end of the Storage Latch to the bracket on the Frame 53 with a 3 8 x 2 Bolt 3 and a 3 8 Locknut 11 Remove the tie from the lower end of the Storage Latch 50 Keep the holes in the Latch Cap 49 aligned with the holes in the Storage Latch Make sure to keep the Latch Cap in side the Storage Latch Attach the Storage Latch to the bracket on the Base 60 with a 3 8 x 1 3 4 Bolt 8 Note It may be necessary to move the Frame 53 back and forth to align the Storage Latch with the bracket Lower the Frame 53 see HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE on page 21 15 Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill If there are sheets of clear plastic on the treadmill decals remove the plastic To protect the
15. and release the latch knob See drawing 1 Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands and lower it to the floor CAUTION Do not grip only the plastic foot rails or drop the frame to the floor Bend your legs and keep your back straight 21 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assistance is needed please see the front cover of this manual PROBLEM The power does not turn on SOLUTION a PROBLEM SOLUTION PROBLEM SOLUTION PROBLEM SOLUTION Check the reset off circuit breaker located on the Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet see page 14 Use only a single outlet surge suppres sor that meets all of the specifications described on page 14 IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is inserted into the console treadmill frame near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the circuit breaker has tripped To reset the circuit breaker wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in Tripped The power turns off during use a d Check the reset off circuit breaker see the drawing above If the circuit breaker has tripped wait for five minutes and then press
16. at the Base is flat on the floor 7 Remove the Resistance Knob 110 from a re sistance mechanism Make sure that the 3 8 x 4 3 4 Bolt 112 stays inside the resistance mechanism and that the resistance mecha nism does not come apart Note See the lower drawing to reassemble the resistance mechanism if necessary Apply a small amount of the included grease Li around the Resistance Cone 108 and the Upright Insert 111 Insert the Resistance Cone 108 into the Upright Insert 111 in the Left Upright 77 with the two large holes on top as shown Then tighten the Resistance Knob 110 onto the 3 8 x 4 3 4 Bolt 112 Do not fully tighten the Resistance Knob Attach the other resistance mechanism to the Right Upright 79 as described above 8 Insert the end of a Crosswalk Arm 98 into the hole in the top of a resistance mechanism Make sure that the bend in the Crosswalk Arm is positioned as shown Tighten a 8 x 3 4 Screw 1 into the resistance mechanism and the Crosswalk Arm 98 from the direction shown Then press a Small Cap 34 into the hole for the Screw Attach the other Crosswalk Arm 98 as de scribed above Carefully lower the Crosswalk Arms 98 down towards the Walking Belt 42 Resistance Mechanism Resistance Mechanism 10 9 Remove the tie from the bracket on the Right Handrail 105 Have a second person hold the Right Handrail 105 near the Righ
17. button To restart the workout press the Start but ton or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph When the next seg ment of the workout begins the treadmill will auto matically adjust to the speed and incline settings for that segment Follow your progress with the displays See step 5 on page 17 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 6 on page 17 Turn on the fan if desired See step 7 on page 17 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 8 on page 17 THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of treadmill usage information The information mode also allows you to adjust the volume to select miles or kilometers as the unit of measurement and to turn on and turn off the demo mode To select the information mode hold down the Stop button insert the key into the console and then re lease the Stop button When the information mode is selected the following information will appear in the display The upper left corner of the lower display will show the num ber of hours that the treadmill has been operated The lower right corner of the display will show the total number of miles or kilometers that the walking belt has moved In addition an E for English miles or an M for metric kilometers will ap pear in the upper right corner of the display To change the unit of measurement press the Sp
18. d adjust the incline of the treadmill to the lowest setting The incline must be at the lowest set ting or you may damage the treadmill when you fold it to the storage position Next remove the key from the console and put it in a secure place When you are finished using the treadmill switch the reset off circuit breaker to the off position and unplug the power cord IMPORTANT If you do not do this the treadmill s electrical compo nents may wear prematurely HOW TO USE A PRESET WORKOUT 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16 Select one of the preset workouts To select one of the sixteen preset work outs press the Workout Select button below the desired workout repeatedly until the de sired workout appears in the upper display As each pre set workout is selected the maximum speed setting and the max imum incline setting of the workout will flash in the lower display for a few seconds In addition the duration of the workout will appear in the display and a profile of the speed settings of the workout will scroll across the upper display INCLINE TIME 3000 ES Start the workout Press the Start button or the Speed increase but ton to start the workout A moment after you press the button the treadmill will automatically adjust to the first speed and incline settings for the workout Hold the handrails and begin walking Each workout is di
19. d your age at the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the near est ten years The three numbers listed above your age define your training zone The lowest number is the heart rate for fat burning the middle number is the heart rate for maximum fat burning and the highest number is the heart rate for aerobic exercise 25 Burning Fat To burn fat effectively you must exer cise at a low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses carbohydrate calories for energy Only after the first few minutes of exercise does your body begin to use stored fat calories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning exercise with your heart rate near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is to strengthen your cardiovascular system you must perform aerobic exer cise which is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time For aerobic ex ercise adjust the intensity of your exercise until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Warming Up Start with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A warm up increases your body temperature heart rate and circulation in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise Exercise
20. e to the control system of the treadmill If the control system is damaged the walking belt may slow accelerate or stop unexpectedly which may result in a fall and serious injury This product must be grounded If it should malfunc tion or break down grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of elec tric shock This product is equipped with a cord having an equipment grounding conductor and a grounding plug Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances IMPORTANT The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets This product is for use on a nominal 120 volt circuit and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug illus trated in drawing 1 below A temporary adapter that looks like the adapter illustrated in drawing 2 may be used to connect the surge suppressor to a 2 pole receptacle as shown in drawing 2 if a properly grounded outlet is not available Grounded Outlet Box Surge Suppressor Grounding Pin ps Grounding pin Grounded Outlet Grounding Plug Grounded Outlet Box Surge Suppressor Metal Screw Grounding Plug The temporary adapter should be used only until a properly grounded outlet drawing 1 can be installed by a qualified electrician The green colored rigid ear lug or the like extending f

35. tton the Speed increase button or one of the numbered Precision Quick Speed buttons If you press the Start button or the Speed increase button the walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed in crease and decrease buttons Each time you press one of the buttons the speed setting will change by 0 1 mph if you hold down a button the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 mph If you press one of the numbered Precision Quick Speed buttons the walking belt will gradually change speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To select a speed setting that includes a decimal such as 3 5 mph press two numbered buttons in succession For example to select a speed setting of 3 5 mph press the 3 button and then immediately press the 5 button To stop the walking belt press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To restart the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the numbered Precision Quick Speed buttons 4 Change the incline of the treadmill as desired To change the incline of the treadmill press the Incline increase and decrease buttons or one of the numbered Quick Incline buttons Each time you press the Incline increase or decrease button the incline will change by 0 5 percent If you press one of the numbered Quick Incline buttons the treadmill will adjust to the s

37. vided into one minute segments One speed setting and one incline setting are pro grammed for each segment Note The same speed setting and or incline setting may be pro grammed for consecutive segments During the workout the profile will show your progress The flashing segment of the profile represents the current segment of the Current Segment 18 workout The height of the flashing segment indi cates the speed setting for the current segment At the end of each segment a series of tones will sound If a different speed and or incline setting is programmed for the next segment of the workout the new speed and or incline setting will flash in the display to alert you The treadmill will then automat ically adjust to the speed and or incline setting for the next segment The workout will continue in this way until the last segment of the profile flashes in the display and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop If the speed or incline setting for the current seg ment is too high or too low you can manually over ride the setting by pressing the speed or incline buttons however when the current segment of the workout ends the treadmill will automati cally adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment To change the intensity level of the entire program press the Intensity increase and decrease buttons To stop the workout at any time press the Stop
