5. ress and hold the power button for 2 seconds  The display  backlighting will illuminate and a conformation beep tone will  confirm the transceiver s activation  To turn the unit off  simply  press and hold the power button for 2 seconds     Button Conformation Tones  Whenever  the FUNCTION SELECT  UP or DOWN buttons are  pressed  the transceiver will play a tone to confirm each press     Low Battery Alert  The battery icon on the LCD displays the current charge level of  the transceiver s batteries  Three squares indicates a fully  charged set  As the charge level of the batteries deteriorates   the display will represent the batteries weakened  state with fewer squares  When the batteries are  in need of replacement or charging  the Low  battery indicator battery indicator LED will flash  and the transceiver will beep to alert the user     Low Battery  Indicator         Function Select Button   Pressing this button will sequentially allow selection of the channel  number or Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System  Pressing the  button once from the standby mode  will allow setting of the  channel number  This will be indicated by the slow flashing of  the channel number display  Pressing the button a second time  within 5 seconds will allow setting of the CTCSS code  This will  be indicated by the slow flashing of the code number  If no  buttons are pressed for 5 seconds  the unit will return to standby  mode and the display will indicate the current channel  Pressing  the Func
