IMPORTANT If you are using Windows XP the Found New Hardware Wizard window will open when the device is detected Follow the instructions on p 56 and install the USB device driver For the installation procedure of the software MCR for Windows see p 44 When the USB driver installation completes on the upper right corner of the software screen you will see an icon showing the PC and MCR 4TC connected via USB IMPORTANT If you don t see this icon the USB driver may not have been installed correctly Please see Help for Unit Recognition Failure in the Help menu 46 and check the USB driver Making Settings via PC The following items are not included on the device menu and can only be set or changed from MCR for Windows by connecting the device to a computer via USB Channel Name Create and assign names to each of the channels to be used for record ing Channel Names are used for display in T amp D Graph 1 In MCR for Windows select the Recording Start Settings menu 2 Place a check next to the desired channel s and enter each channel name 3 Click Send Settings OLy HOW UM Od e Busy 47 48 Downloading Recorded Data to a PC Data stored in the internal memory of MCR 4TC can be down loaded to a computer in either of the following two ways Use an SD memory card to export recorded data and transfer to a PC Use MCR for Windows to down

Operation Settings Menu Items Set Contrast Adjust the LCD contrast with A and V Tap lt ENTER gt to confirm the contrast Check Memory You can check the memory usage of capacity and the number of recorded data Set Clock 1 Tapping W will change the selection item of the display in the order of month day year hour minute and second By tapping lt ENTER gt the value for that item will flash 2 While flashing use AW to select the desired value and tap lt ENTER gt to confirm 3 Move to the next or previous setting item with W or A By tapping lt BACK gt while the selected item is flashing the operation will be canceled and flashing will stop Time Zone and DST Set the time zone according to the region in which the MCR 4TC will be used Daylight savings time DST settings must be set manually IMPORTANT It is not possible to set the clock while recording is in progress Please make sure that the date and time settings in the MCR 4TC are correct if they are not the recording start time and recording time of downloaded data will be incorrect Clock settings including time zone and DST for the MCR 4TC can also be made from your computer by using the supplied software MCR for Windows When making settings via the software it is not necessary to carry out operations from the MCR 4TC For details see the Help menu in the software Beep This allows you to turn off the operation c

Recording with MCR 4V as the Master when the Preheat function has been set to ON recording method instantaneous values only and the preheat time is set to longer than the waiting time before recording start the first data reading will be invalid because preheating has not been completed Q3 A3 Q4 A4 Q5 A5 Is it possible to change the batteries while the unit is in operation If the unit is connected to an AC adaptor or some other external power source it is possible to change the batteries If only batteries are being used as the power source it is necessary to stop recording before changing the batteries Is it possible to adjust or alter recorded data that has been downloaded by the MCR 4TC In order to maintain the integrity and trustworthiness of the recorded data the software has been designed to not allow modifications to be carried out on actual recorded data If it is necessary to edit recorded data in T amp D Graph save the data to text file and use a common spreadsheet software such as Excel to edit the text file data I get a Write Error when I try to export recorded data to an SD memory card what should I do Please check the following e Make sure the write protection switch on the SD memory card is unlocked e Check if your SD memory card is supported by the MCR 4TC See p 15 e Perform a Memory Card Test See p 40 e Perform a Quick Format for your SD card See p
