To again see the distance that you have walked or run during your workout press the Odometer but ton again To reset the display press the Stop button re move the key and then reinsert the key Measure your heart rate if desired To use the chest pulse sensor see page 9 To use the handgrip pulse sensor see the instruc tions below Note If you use the chest pulse sensor and the handgrip pulse sensor at the same time the console will not display your heart rate accurately To use the handgrip pulse sen sor first re move the sheets of clear plastic from the metal con tacts on the handrail Next stand on the foot rails and hold the metal contacts avoid moving your hands When your pulse is detected the heart symbol in the right side of the display will appear one or two dashes will appear and then your heart rate will be shown For the most accurate heart rate read ing continue to hold the contacts for about 15 seconds E Turn on the fans if desired To turn on the fans at low speed press the AutoBreeze Fans button the number 1 will appear below the word Fan in the display To turn on 14 the fans at medium speed press the button a sec ond time the number 2 will appear To turn on the fans at high speed press the button a third time the number 3 will appear To select the Auto mode press the button again the word Auto will appear When the auto mode

4. programs Odometer Programs press the mr Programs II bed Weight Loss button re peatedly until the words Weight Loss Aerobic or Performance and the number 1 2 or 3 appear in the lower cen tre of the display As each preset program is selected the maximum speed setting of the program and the maximum incline setting of the program will flash in the dis play for a few seconds The Time zone of the dis play will show how long the program will last A profile of the speed settings of the program will scroll across the matrix in the centre of the dis play E Adjust the intensity level of the program if desired The lower right zone of the display will show the intensity level of the selected program there are fifteen intensity lev els If desired turn the Program Intensity dial to increase or decrease the intensity level of the Warm Up program If you change vad dea the intensity level the new maximum speed setting of the program and the new maximum incline setting of the program will flash in the display for a few seconds In addi Program Intensity Training Zones Target Performance Endurance Aerobic Fat Burn 00000000 15 See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page E tion the profile in the matrix will change to show the new speed settings of the program If you wish to save the new intensity level of the program for future workouts press the Save button Press the Sta

Always remove the key unplug the power cord and switch the on off switch to the off position when the treadmill is not in use See the drawing on page 5 for the loca tion of the on off switch 18 Do not attempt to raise lower or move the treadmill until it is properly assembled See ASSEMBLY on page 6 and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 27 You must be able to safely lift 20 kg 45 Ibs to raise lower or move the treadmill 19 Do not change the incline of the treadmill by placing objects under the treadmill 20 When folding or moving the treadmill make sure that the storage latch is fully closed 21 22 23 When using iFIT com programs an electronic chirping sound will alert you when the speed and or incline of the treadmill is about to change Always listen for the chirp and be prepared for speed and or incline changes In some instances the speed and or incline may change before the personal trainer de scribes the change When using iFIT com programs you can man ually override the speed and incline settings by pressing the speed and incline buttons However when the next chirp is heard the speed and or incline will change to the next settings of the program Always remove iFIT com CDs and videos from your CD player or VCR and disconnect your MP3 player when you are not using them 24 25 26 27 Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the treadmill regular

Nuts 9 Do not overtighten the Wheel Bolts the Wheels should turn freely Attach the other Wheel 95 and Wheel Endcap 101 as described above With the help of a second person carefully raise the Uprights 69 to the vertical position Cut the tie securing the Pulse Wire 66 to the Uprights 69 Hold the Pulse Bar Assembly 65 near the crossbar on the Uprights Connect the Pulse Wire to the wire in the Pulse Bar Assembly The connectors should slide to gether easily and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again Insert the wires into the crossbar Attach the Pulse Bar Assembly 65 to the crossbar on the Uprights 69 with four Pulse Bar Bolts 33 and four Star Washers 77 Start all four Pulse Bar Bolts and then tighten them Make sure that no wires are pinched 5 Have a second person hold the console assembly near the 5 Uprights 69 Connect the Upright Wire Harness 98 and the Pulse Wire 66 to the wires extending from the console Console o assembly The connectors should slide together easily Assembly and snap into place If they do not turn one connector and try again Then insert the connectors into the console Ground assembly Wire OJ Connect the Upright Ground Wire 11 to the ground wire extending from the console assembly Make sure that the wires are fully connected Then insert the ground wires into the console assembly Set the

USE A CUSTOM PROGRAM on page 18 Press the Start button or the Speed increase button and program the desired speed and in cline settings A moment after the button is pressed the walking belt will begin to move Hold the handrails and begin walking 17 Refer to the matrix Each custom pro ERA gram is di Odameter Programs vided into Current Segment one minute segments One speed setting and one incline setting can be programmed for each segment The speed setting for the first segment will be shown in the flashing Current Segment column of the matrix The in cline settings are not shown in the matrix To pro gram a speed setting and an incline setting for the first segment simply adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill as desired by pressing the Speed and Incline buttons Every few times a Speed but ton is pressed an additional indicator will appear or disappear in the Current Segment column When the first segment of the program ends a se ries of tones will sound and the current speed set ting and the current incline setting will be saved in memory 7he three columns of indicators will then move one column to the eft and the speed set ting for the second segment will be shown in the flashing Current Segment column Program a speed setting and an incline setting for the second segment as described above Continue programming speed and incline settings for as many segments as desired cu
8. clip as needed HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1 Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER above A Identify yourself as user A or user B The console can save program settings for two different users To identify yourself as user A press the A button to identify yourself as user B press the B button E Select the manual mode To select the manual DA A A A S mode press the EN Programs Odometer Track button re peatedly until a track appears in the centre of the display Make sure that the word Programs does not ap pear below the track Start the walking belt To start the walking belt press the Start button the Speed increase button or one of the twelve 1 Step Speed buttons If the Start button or the Speed increase button is pressed the walking belt will begin to move at 2 km h As you exercise change the speed of the walking belt as desired by pressing the Speed in crease and decrease buttons Each time a button is pressed the speed setting will change in incre ments of 0 1 km h if a button is held down the speed setting will change in increments of 0 5 km h Note After the buttons are pressed it may take a moment for the walking belt to reach the selected speed setting If one of the 1 Step Speed buttons is pressed the walking belt will gradually increase in speed until it reaches the selected speed setting To stop the walking belt press the Stop b
9. com mode To select the iFIT com mode press the Programs Odometer Programs button until Iriri the letters YA O iFIT appear Distance in the dis play E Press the Play button on your MP3 player CD player or VCR Note If you are using an iFIT com CD insert the CD into your CD player if you are using an iFIT com videocassette insert the videocassette into your VCR A moment after the Play button is pressed your personal trainer will begin guiding you through your workout Simply follow your personal trainer s instructions Note If the time is flashing in the dis play press the Start button or the Speed increase button on the console The treadmill will not re spond to an MP3 CD or video program while the time is flashing in the display 23 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO Note If your stereo has an unused LINE OUT jack see instruction A below If the LINE OUT jack is being used see instruction B A Plug one end of a long 3 5 mm to RCA stereo audio cable available at electronics stores into the input jack on the console Plug the other end of the cable into the LINE OUT jack on your stereo Note While the cable is plugged into the LINE OUT jack do not plug your headphones into the headphone jack on the console i LINE OUT i SEAE quet h Audio Cable B Plug one end of a long 3 5 mm to RCA stereo audio cable available
10. console assembly on the Uprights 69 Make sure that no wires are pinched Finger tighten a Console Bolt 78 with a Star Washer 77 into the lower hole in each Upright only one side is shown Next finger tighten a Short Console Bolt 106 with a Star Washer 77 into the upper hole in each Upright 69 only one side is shown Be careful not to drop the Short Console Bolts into the Uprights Firmly tighten the two Console Bolts 78 and the two Short Console Bolts Insert an Upright Endcap 79 into the top of each Upright 69 only one side is shown Note Insert the end of the Upright Endcap indicated by the arrow first use a rubber mallet if necessary Press the Latch Knob Sleeve 70 into the left Upright 69 Note It may be helpful to use a rubber mallet to fully insert the Latch Knob Sleeve Remove the knob from the pin Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin as shown Note If there are two collars place one on each side of the spring Insert the pin into the Latch Knob Sleeve 70 and the left Upright 69 Tighten the knob back onto the pin Console Assembly Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill Keep the included allen wrench in a secure place the allen wrench is used to adjust the walking belt see page 30 To protect the floor or carpet from damage place a mat under the treadmill TROUBLESHOOTING Most trea
11. damage place a mat under the treadmill Keep the treadmill out of direct sunlight Do not leave the treadmill in the stor age position in temperatures above 85 Fahrenheit HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL Before moving the treadmill convert the treadmill to the stor age position as described above Make sure that the latch pin is fully inserted into the hole in the housing 1 Hold the upper end of the uprights and place one foot against one of the wheels 2 Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the wheels Carefully move the treadmill to the desired location Never move the treadmill without tipping it back To reduce the risk of injury use extreme caution while moving the treadmill Do not attempt to move the treadmill over an uneven surface 3 Place one foot against one of the wheels and carefully lower the treadmill until it is resting in the storage position 27 THE INFORMATION MODE DEMO MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used and the total number of kilometers that the walking belt has moved The information mode also al lows you to select kilometres or miles as the unit of measurement for the console to turn on and turn off the demo mode and to reset all programs to the origi nal settings To select the information mode hold down the Stop button while inserting the key into the cons
12. if you are over 60 years of age and have been inactive do not use the heart rate programs If you are taking medication regu larly consult your physician to find whether the medication will affect your exercise heart rate Follow the steps below to use a heart rate program E Put on the chest pulse sensor You must wear the chest pulse sensor to use a heart rate program A Insert the key into the console See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 12 3 Identify yourself as user A or user B See step 2 on page 12 4 Select a heart rate program 19 To select a SS GEN EUER GENE DENEN EE GEGEN A END heart rate MLT program Odometer Programs press the inn Programs LILI Lu button re TONG m peatedly until the words Heart Rate and the number 1 or 2 appear in the lower centre of the display As each heart rate program is selected a profile of the target heart rate settings of the selected program will scroll across the matrix in the centre of the display Enter a maximum target heart rate setting When a heart rate pro gram is selected the Heart Rate words Heart Rate will appear in the Heart Rate Calories zone of the display and the maximum target heart rate setting of the program will flash If desired press the Heart Rate increase and de crease buttons to change the maximum target heart rate setting To save the new maximum tar get heart rate setting for future workouts press the Save button

14. shown in the Current Segment column and the last segment ends The walking belt will then slow to a stop If desired you can redefine to the program while using it To change the speed or incline setting for the current segment simply press the Speed or Incline buttons When the current segment ends the new setting will be saved in memory To in crease the length of the program first wait until the program is completed Then press the Start but ton and program speed and incline settings for as many additional segments as desired When you have added as many segments as desired press the Stop button twice To decrease the length of the program press the Stop button twice at any time before the program is completed To stop the program at any time press the Stop button The time will begin to flash in the display To restart the program press the Start button or the Speed increase button The walking belt will begin to move at 2 km h When the next segment of the program begins the treadmill will automati cally adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment E Follow your progress with the display See step 6 on page 13 3 Measure your heart rate if desired See step 7 on page 14 Turn on the fans if desired See step 8 on page 14 When you are finished exercising remove the key from the console See step 9 on page 16 HOW TO USE A HEART RATE PROGRAM A CAUTION i you have heart prob lems or

OOTING on page 9 b If the chest pulse sensor still does not function properly the battery b should be changed To replace the battery first locate the battery P Batey Cover P Batey Cover cover on the back of the sensor unit Insert a coin into the slot in the cover and turn the cover counterclockwise to the open position Then remove the cover Next remove the old battery from the sensor unit and insert a new CR 2032 battery with the battery oriented so the writing on top S3 Battery Make sure that the rubber gasket is in place in the sensor unit Then x Cover reinsert the battery cover and turn it to the closed position Battery Rubber PROBLEM The shock does not assist the lowering of the treadmill frame SOLUTION a Environmental factors such as cold temperatures can affect the performance of the shock To re store shock performance hold the ends of the frame near the endcaps firmly with both hands and carefully lower the frame to the floor and then raise it several times To decrease the possi bility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight 31 Locate the Reed Switch 10 and the Magnet 7 on the left side of the Pulley 8 Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch Make sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed Switch is about 3 mm 1 8 in If necessary loosen the Screw 100 move the Reed Switch slightly and then retighten the Screw Reattach the Hood not

17. a reputable book or consult your physician EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity The proper intensity level can be found by using your heart rate as a guide The chart below shows recom mended heart rates for fat burning and aerobic exercise 125 115 110 103 95 90 70 80 To find the proper heart rate for you first find your age near the bottom of the chart ages are rounded off to the nearest ten years Next find the three numbers above your age The three numbers define your train ing zone The lower two numbers are recommended heart rates for fat burning the higher number is the recommended heart rate for aerobic exercise Fat Burning To burn fat effectively you must exercise at a relatively low intensity level for a sustained period of time During the first few minutes of exercise your body uses easily accessible carbohydrate calories for en ergy Only after the first few minutes does your body begin to use stored a ca ories for energy If your goal is to burn fat adjust the speed and incline of the tread mill until your heart rate is near the lowest number in your training zone For maximum fat burning adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill until your heart rate is near the middle number in your training zone Aerobic Exercise If your goal is

22. dmill problems can be solved by following the steps below Find the symptom that applies and follow the steps listed If further assistance is needed see the front cover of this manual PROBLEM The power does not turn on SOLUTION PROBLEM SOLUTION PROBLEM SOLUTION a Check the circuit breaker located on the treadmill Check the on off switch located on the treadmill near Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a properly earthed outlet see page 10 If an ex tension cord is needed use only a 3 conductor 1 mm 14 gauge cord that is no longer than 1 5 m 5 ft Important The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl equipped outlets After the power cord has been plugged in make sure that the key is inserted into the console near the power cord If the switch protrudes as shown the circuit breaker has tripped To reset the circuit breaker wait for five minutes and then press the switch back in the power cord The switch must be in the on position The power turns off during use a d e Check the circuit breaker see the drawing above If the circuit breaker has tripped wait for five minutes and then press the switch to the reset position Make sure that the power cord is plugged in If the power cord is plugged in unplug it wait for five minutes and then plug it back in Remove the key from the console Reinsert the key into the console Make sure that the on off swi
23. e iFIT com mode See step 3 on page 23 Go to your computer and start an internet connection Start your web browser if necessary and go to our Web site at www iFIT com Follow the desired links on our Web site to se lect a program Read and follow the on line instructions for using a program 7 Follow the on line instructions to start the program When you start the program an on screen count down will begin Return to the treadmill and stand on the foot rails Find the clip attached to the key and slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes When the on screen countdown ends the program will begin and the walking belt will begin to move Hold the handrails step onto the walking belt and begin walking During the program an electronic chirping sound will alert you when the speed and or incline of the treadmill is about to change CAUTION Always listen for the chirp and be prepared for speed and or incline changes If the speed or incline settings are too high or too low you can manually override the settings at any time by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons on the console However when the next chirp is heard the speed and or incline will change to the next settings for the program To stop the walking belt at any time press the Stop button on the console The time will begin to flash in the display To restart the program press the Start button or the Speed increase button A

34. n the sensor unit using a damp cloth never use alcohol abrasives or chemicals The chest strap may be hand washed and air dried CHEST PULSE SENSOR TROUBLESHOOTING The instructions on the following pages explain how the chest pulse sensor is used with the con sole If the chest pulse sensor does not function properly try the steps below Make sure that you are wearing the chest pulse sen Sor as described at the left Note If the chest pulse sensor does not function when positioned as de scribed move it slightly lower or higher on your chest Use saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution to wet the two electrode areas on the sensor unit If heart rate readings do not appear until you begin perspiring rewet the electrode areas As you walk or run on the treadmill position your self near the centre of the walking belt For the con sole to display heart rate readings the user must be within arm s length of the console The chest pulse sensor is designed to work with people who have normal heart rhythms Heart rate reading problems may be caused by medical condi tions such as premature ventricular contractions pvcs tachycardia bursts and arrhythmia The operation of the chest pulse sensor can be af fected by magnetic interference caused by high power lines or other sources If it is suspected that this is a problem try relocating the treadmill The CR2032 battery may need to be replaced see pa
35. ng conductor can result in an in creased risk of electric shock Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly earthed Do not modify the plug provided with the product if it will not fit the outlet have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician 10 HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill adjust the incline to the lowest position If this is not done the treadmill may be per manently damaged Remove the key and unplug the power cord CAUTION You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds 20 kg to raise lower or move the treadmill k Hold the treadmill with your hands in the location shown by the arrow at the right CAUTION To decrease the possi bility of injury bend your legs and keep your back straight As you raise the treadmill make sure to lift with your legs rather than your back Raise the treadmill about halfway to the vertical position 2 Move your right hand to the position shown and hold the treadmill firmly Using your left hand pull the latch knob to the left and hold it Raise the treadmill until the latch pin is aligned with the hole in the housing and insert the latch pin into the hole Make sure that the latch pin is fully in serted into the hole Note If the adjustment knob see page 26 hits the right upright press on the knob To protect the floor or carpet from

43. t Adjust the length of the chest strap if neces sary The chest pulse sensor should be under your clothes tight against your skin and as high under the pectoral muscles or breasts as is comfortable Make sure that the logo on the sensor unit is facing forward and is right side up Next pull the sensor unit away from your body a few inches and locate the two electrode areas on the inner side the electrode areas are covered by shallow ridges Using saline solution such as saliva or contact lens solution wet both electrode areas Return the sensor unit to a position against your chest CHEST PULSE SENSOR CARE AND MAINTENANCE e Thoroughly dry the chest pulse sensor after each use The chest pulse sensor is activated when the electrode areas are wetted and the heart rate monitor is put on the chest pulse sensor shuts off when it is removed and the electrode areas are dried If the chest pulse sensor is not dried after each use it may remain activated longer than nec essary draining the battery prematurely e Store the chest pulse sensor in a warm dry place Do not store the chest pulse sensor in a plastic bag or other container that may trap moisture Do not expose the chest pulse sensor to direct sun light for extended periods of time do not expose it to temperatures above 50 C 120 F or below 10 C 15 F Do not excessively bend or stretch the sensor unit when using or storing the chest pulse sensor Clea

47. tch is in the on position If the treadmill still will not run see the front cover of this manual The displays of the console do not function properly a Remove the key from the console and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD Carefully tip the Uprights 69 down as shown at the right Remove the 1 Screws 156 and the 2 Screws 3 from the Hood 23 Raise the Uprights 69 and carefully remove the Hood 23 29 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1 Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown Using your left hand pull the latch knob to the left and hold it Pivot the treadmill down until the frame is past the latch pin 2 Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands and lower the treadmill to the floor To decrease the possibility of in jury bend your legs and keep your back straight 28 HOW TO USE THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR HOW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR The chest pulse sensor consists of two components the chest strap and the sensor unit see the drawing below Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor unit as shown in the inset drawing Press the end of the sensor unit under the buckle on the chest strap The tab should be flush with the front of the sensor unit e apr Sensor Unit Next wrap the chest pulse sensor around your chest and attach the other end of the chest strap to the sensor uni

50. to strengthen your cardiovascular sys tem your exercise must be aerobic Aerobic exercise is activity that requires large amounts of oxygen for prolonged periods of time This increases the demand on the heart to pump blood to the muscles and on the lungs to oxygenate the blood For aerobic exercise adjust the speed and incline of the treadmill until your heart rate is near the highest number in your training zone WORKOUT GUIDELINES Each workout should include the following three parts A Warm up Start each workout with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching and light exercise A proper warm up in creases your body temperature heart rate and circula tion in preparation for exercise Training Zone Exercise After warming up increase the intensity of your exercise until your pulse is in your training zone for 20 to 60 minutes During the first few weeks of your exercise program do not keep your pulse in your training zone for longer than 20 minutes Breathe regularly and deeply as you exercise never hold your breath A Cool down Finish each workout with 5 to 10 min utes of stretching to cool down This will increase the flexibility of your muscles and will help prevent post ex ercise problems EXERCISE FREQUENCY To maintain or improve your condition complete three workouts each week with at least one day of rest be tween workouts After a few months you may com plete up to five workouts each week if desired The key
