2. iv Planmeca Compact i Classic User s Manual INTRODUCTION 1 INTRODUCTION NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CE Planmeca Compact i Classic dental unit is an electrically controlled dental device that consists of a patient chair cuspidor delivery arm dental instruments and an operating light Planmeca Compact i Classic is meant to be used for dental treatment by dental care professionals This manual describes how to use the Planmeca Compact i Classic dental unit Please read this manual carefully before using the unit The use of the Planmeca Compact i Classic dental unit is allowed only under the supervision of dental care professionals The Planmeca Compact i Classic dental unit is compatible with software revision 6 2 4 or later This manual is valid for software revision 6 2 4 or later In error situations this manual is the primary source of information For information on OEM products please refer to OEM documentation The water used by the Planmeca Compact i Classic dental unit instruments and cup fill are to be used for rinsing only The main water tap must be turned off when the dental care unit is not in use A faulty or broken dental unit must not be used Electromagnetic interference between the equipment and other devices can occur in very extreme conditions Do not use the equipment in close conjunction with sensi tive d

NOTE Insert for syringe Flushing holder cover hon Open the dental unit door Remove the clean water bottle Empty the possible water from the clean water bottle Fill the clean water bottle with approx 1 dl of cleaning solution The amount depends on the unit configuration We recommend you keep record of how much solution has been used Place the clean water bottle back in its place in the dental unit and close the unit door Ensure that the water supply switch is turned toward BOTTLE and that the water bottle switch is turned toward ON Remove the hoses of all water consuming instruments including syringe from the instrument arms instrument holders and place the instruments and syringes into the openings in the flushing holder If you are flushing the smaller round syringe or syringes max 2 remove the instrument cover and use the insert as shown in the figure before placing the syringe s in the flushing holder Lock the syringe s into place with a rotating movement when the syringe s is are in the holder User s Manual Planmeca Compact i Classic 65 CLEAN WATER SYSTEM Syringe The metallic syringe cover must be removed before placing the slightly thicker syringe into the flushing holder Note the orientation of the syringe It does not require an insert and must be placed in the holder as instructed below NOTE NOTE NOTE NOTE ps c

Speed power NOTE CAUTION Reverse rotation Instrument spray Standard pedal To drive the micromotor push the foot control pedal to the right or to the left Wide pedal To drive the micromotor push the foot control pedal down Pushing the pedal further to the right left or down will increase the speed or power of the micromotor As you push the pedal the power output will appear on the display The normal range is 10 100 To stop the micromotor allow the pedal to return to the rest position The speed power level depends on the instrument Ensure that the pedal is in rest position when you activate the micromotor In normal operation the micromotor rotates in a clockwise direction To reverse the direction of rotation press Reverse Reversing is possible only when the micromotor is picked up from the instrument console but not operated When the micromotor rotates in the reverse direction the indicator light is amber Press Instrument spray to turn the instrument spray on or off When the indicator light is lit the spray is on and the spray of water air or both of them are flowing when operating the instrument The spray flow rate can be programmed See section 14 3 Instrument spray on page 45 Alternatively you can turn the instrument spray on off with the foot control Standard pedal Push the pedal down briefly to turn the instrument spray on off Wide pedal Push the pedal briefly to the le

The adjustable suction arm is attached to the side of the unit base The adjustable suction arm with assistant s control panel is attached to the side of the unit base Suctonarmeps 6 2 Suction tube holders The suction holder has three openings one for the high power suction tube one for the saliva suction tube and one spare position that can be used either for the assistant s syringe or the assistant s polymerisation light 16 Planmeca Compact i Classic User s Manual SUCTION SYSTEM Suction handpieces Tilted handpiece When a saliva or high power suction handpiece is lifted from its holder the suction will automatically start When the handpieces are returned the suction will stop When you are using the suction handpiece the suction can be controlled by sliding the adjuster up or down cattani eps When you lift the suction handpiece from its holder the weight of the suction tube will cause the end of the handpiece to tilt slightly This action opens the handpiece valve allowing the suction to start You can stop the suction temporarily by straightening the suction handpiece with your thumb and forefinger If you temporarily put the suction handpiece down during dental treatment the suction will automatically stop as the force of the suction will straighten the handpiece User s Manual Planmeca Compacti Classic 17 PATIENT CHAIR 7 PATIENT
9. ps clean_wu10 e 58 Planmeca Compact i Classic User s Manual CLEANING NOTE Balanced instrument arms Start the flushing cycle by bending the instrument arms of those instruments including syringe that are to be flushed to an angle of at least 90 and simultaneously pressing Instrument spray you will hear a signal tone and holding it for 3 seconds Release the button and arms when you hear a second signal tone Hanging tube instruments Start the flushing cycle by pressing Instrument spray you will hear a signal tone and holding it for 3 seconds Release the button when you hear a second signal tone The system will first identify the instruments and then each instrument hose is flushed with air and water for 30 seconds in its turn The flushing cycle can be interrupted by pressing any of the instrument buttons After the interruption the dental unit can be used normally Once the flushing cycle is finished remove the instruments and place the holder cover to its position When HE 36 is displayed after the flushing cycle remove the console syringe from the flushing holder and return it to the instrument holder Balanced instrument arms 1 If the balanced arm is bent and syringe hose is in the balanced arm remove the syringe from the flushing holder and return it to the instrument holder balanced arm straightens up and syringe becomes deactivated 2 If the syringe has been removed fr
