Stage One Licensed by ZumSteel Owners Manual www stageonesteelquitars com doug stageonesteelquitars com D Verle LLC 274 Woodson Bend Branson MO 65616 816 809 1360 04 22 2007 18 40 FAX 41001 ASSEMBLING YOUR NEW STAGE ONE GUITAR Upon opening the case you will find that the guitar is placed in the case in a bottom side up position This is to allow you to more easily assemble your steel guitar Remove the pedal board and lay it aside The four legs and the pedal rods are packaged in the vinyl pouch Remove these from the case and lay aside Now remove the four legs and the pedal rods from the vinyl pouch Two of the legs have a hole drilled through near the rubber tip These are the front two legs The front side of the guitar is nearest the lid side of the case the side farthest away from you Screw in the front two legs marked right and left in the two end plate holes nearest the lid Now remove the wing nuts completely from the pedal board screws Install the pedal board by placing it on the far side of the front two legs and insert the two end screws through the front two legs pulling it toward you Make sure the pedal board is in an upside down position with the pedals being toward the right hand side of the board as you are facing it Install the two wing nuts and tighten Now install the pedal rods by hooking one into the crank actuator in the direction shown in the figure below Connect the rod ends
2. to the pedals by pulling the spring loaded outer sleeve of the rod end down towards the guitar engage the ball joint on the pedal and release the outer sleeve with the slot engaging the ball stem Pedal rod Crank actuator Now screw in the two back legs the two nearest you Your pedal steel is now ready to be lifted from the case and turned right side up on the four legs U Tuning Chart Changer Endplate view of Guitar Turn clockwise to raise pitch DO NOT ADJUST EVER of Lower Adjustment Turn clockwise to raise pitch screw in top of end plate Procedure Tune the open strings to the notes on the chart above Tune the engaged pedals and knee levers to the notes on the chart above The strings that are raised in pitch are adjusted with the white nylon hex nuts in the endplate cutout The strings that are lowered in pitch are adjusted with the socket head screws in the upper end plate Pedals 1 amp 2 are to be tuned with both 1 amp 2 pedals down Pedal 3 is to be tuned with pedals 2 amp 3 down Lever LKL is to be tuned with pedal 1 down Volumes have been written regarding the proper way to tune a pedal steel with convincing arguments to be made for differing opinions Tuning to the suggestions above to begin learning will be a great way to start and will likely be more pleasing to more ears Peterson VSII and Strobo Stomp model tuners are highly recommended They are programmed with the settings from the ab
