9. 4 Start playback of the component you selected in step 1 Choosing the input signal Default setting AUTO You need to hook up a component to both analog and digital inputs on the rear of the receiver to select between input signals e Press SIGNAL SEL SIGNAL SELECT to select the input signal corresponding to the source component Fach press cycles through the options as follows e AUTO This is the default setting The receiver selects the first available signal in the following order DIGITAL ANALOG ANALOG Selects an analog signal e DIGITAL Selects an optical or coaxial digital signal When set to DIGITAL or AUTO DO DIGITAL lights when a Dolby Digital signal is input and DTS lights when a DIS signal is input Selecting the multichannel analog inputs If you have connected a decoder or a DVD player with multichannel analog outputs to this receiver page 15 you must select the analog multichannel inputs for surround sound 1 The tone controls are only available when Stereo or Front Stage Surround Advance mode are selected except when STEREO is selected using AUTO SURROUND 2 If your source is the TV s built in tuner switch to the channel you want to watch otherwise make sure that the TV s video input is set to this receiver For example if you connected this receiver to the VIDEO jacks on your TV make sure that the VIDEO input is selected Turn down the volume of your TV so that all the sound is coming
