1. Roasting is really a baking procedure used for meats Therefore oven controls are set for Baking or Timed Baking You may hear a slight clicking sound indicating the oven is working properly Timed Baking will turn the oven on and off automatically Most meats continue to cook slightly while standing after being removed from the oven The standing time recommended for roasts is 10 to 20 minutes This allows roasts to firm up and makes them easier to carve The internal temperature will rise about 3 C to 8 C 5 to 10 F to compensate for the temperature rise if desired remove the roast from oven sooner 3 C to 8 C 5 to 10 F less than the temperature in the Roasting Guide Remember that food will continue to cook in the hot oven and therefore should be removed when the desired internal temperature has been reached JVISOULIDY J UAC 3y sn py 4 Press the or pad until the desired temperature is displayed The oven will start automatically The word ON and 100 will be displayed As the oven heats up the display will show the changing temperature When the oven reaches the temperature you set a tone will sound 5 Press the CLEAR OFF pad when roasting is finished and then remove the food from the oven To change the oven temperature during the roasting cycle press the BAKE pad and then the or pad to get the new temperature Dual Shelf Cooking This allows m

Use your oven as you would normally NOTE This adjustment will not affect the broiling or self cleaning temperatures It will be retained in memory after a power failure ROASTING Do not lock the oven door with the door latch during roasting This is used for self cleaning only Roasting is cooking by dry heat Tender meat or poultry can be roasted uncovered in your oven Roasting temperatures which should be low and steady keep spattering to a minimum The oven has a special low shelf R position just above the oven bottom Use it when extra cooking space is needed for example g p when roasting a SSS large turkey The shelf is not designed to slide out at this position 1 Position the oven at shelf B position for small size roast 1 3 to SAAS AAD 2 3 kg 3 to 5 Ibs S30 GR and at R position lt lt for larger roasts 2 Check the weight of the meat Place the meat fat side up or poultry breast side up on roasting grid in a shallow pan The melting fat will baste the meat Select a pan as close to the size of the meat as possible The broiler pan with grid is a good pan for this 3 Press the BAKE pad BAKE ZN Use of Aluminum Foil You can use aluminum foil to line the broiler pan This makes clean up easier when using the pan for marinating cooking with fruits cooking heavily cured meats or basting food during cooking Press the foil tightly around the inside of the pan

D 5 O pue 31o suIUvd CARE AND CLEANING continued Standard Twin Burners on some models CAUTION DO NOT OPERATE THE BURNER WITHOUT ALL BURNER PARTS AND DRIP PANS IF SO EQUIPPED IN PLACE Grate Drip Pan on some models Surface Burner On models with standard twin burners the cooktop lifts up for easy access Turn all controls OFF before removing burner parts and drip pans if so equipped The burner grates and drip pans if so equipped can be lifted off making them easy to clean The holes in the surface burners of your range must be kept clean at all times for proper ignition and an even unhampered flame Drip Pans on some models Remove the grates and lift out the drip pans Drip pans can be cleaned in dishwasher or by hand To get rid of burned on food place them in a covered container or plastic bag with 62 ml 1 4 cup ammonia to loosen the soil Then scrub with a soap filled scouring pad if necessary When replacing the drip pans make sure they are in the correct position CAUTION Do not clean the drip pans in a self cleaning oven 30 Clean these holes thoroughly on each burner You should clean the surface burners routinely especially after bad spillovers which could clog these holes Wipe off surface burners If heavy spillover occurs remove the surface burners from the range Burners lift out for cleaning Lift up the cooktop and then lift out the

I cook food on the cooktop while the oven is self cleaning Yes While the oven is self cleaning you can use the cooktop just as you normally do The word door appeared in the display when I selected the Clean Cycle What s wrong The door latch handle must be moved all the way to the right Move the latch handle and cleaning will start CARE AND CLEANING Proper care and cleaning are important so your range will give you efficient and satisfactory service Follow these directions carefully in caring for it to help assure safe and proper maintenance Sealed Burner Assemblies on some models CAUTION DO NOT OPERATE THE BURNER WITHOUT ALL BURNER PARTS AND DRIP PANS IF SO EQUIPPED IN PLACE Grate Burner Cap Drip Pan on some models Burner Head Electrode Turn all controls OFF before removing the burner parts and drip pans if so equipped The burner grates caps burner heads and drip pans if so equipped can be lifted off making them easy to clean COR The electrode of the spark igniter is exposed when the burner head is removed When one burner is turned to LITE all the burners spark Do not attempt to disassemble or clean around any burner while another burner is on An electric shock may result which could cause you to knock over hot cookware Burner Caps on sealed burners only Lift off when cool Wash burner caps in hot soapy water and rinse with clean wate

15. or in a self cleaning oven Oven Bottom The oven bottom has a porcelain enamel finish To make cleaning easier protect the oven bottom from excessive spillovers by placing a cookie sheet on the shelf below the shelf you are cooking on This is particularly important when baking a fruit pie or other foods with a high acid content We don t recommend using aluminum foil on the oven bottom It can affect air flow if the holes are blocked and it can concentrate heat at the bottom of the oven resulting in poor baking performance Hot fruit fillings or other foods that are highly acidic such as milk tomatoes or sauerkraut and sauces with vinegar or lemon juice may cause pitting and damage to the porcelain enamel surface and should be wiped up immediately To clean up spillovers use soap and water an abrasive cleaner or scouring pad Rinse well to remove any soap before self cleaning Clean the brushed chrome top with warm soapy water or Bon Ami brand cleanser and immediately dry it with a clean soft cloth Take care to dry the surface following the grain To help prevent finger marks after cleaning spread a thin film of baby oil on the surface Wipe away excess oil with a clean soft cloth 31 O o z SsuIUvO CARE AND CLEANING continued Lift Off Oven Door The oven door is removable but itis heavy You may need help removing and replacing the door To remove the door

18. s recommendations for cooking methods Stove Top Grills on models with sealed burners Do not use stove top grills on your sealed gas burners If you use the stove top grill on the sealed gas burner it will cause incomplete combustion and can result in exposure to carbon monoxide levels above allowable current standards This can be hazardous to your health 10 Glass There are two types of glass cookware those for oven use only and those for top of range cooking saucepans coffee and teapots Glass conducts heat very Slowly Heatproof Glass Ceramic Can be used for either surface or oven cooking It conducts heat very slowly and cools very slowly Check cookware manufacturer s directions to be sure it can be used on gas ranges Stainless Steel This metal alone has poor heating properties and is usually combined with copper aluminum or other metals for improved heat distribution Combination metal skillets usually work satisfactorily if they are used with medium heat as the manufacturer recommends Wok This Way on models with sealed burners We recommend that you use a flat bottomed wok They are available at your local retail store A traditional round bottom wok can be used with Wok Holder accessory model JX WK which can be ordered from your appliance dealer The Wok Holder fits on top of the range grate to provide support and proper air circulation for traditional round bottom woks only Do not use fl
19. sauces or foods which need to cook over low heat for a long time It can be turned down to a very low simmer Setting e The right front burner is higher powered than the others and will bring liquids to a boil quicker When one burner is turned to LITE all the burners spark Do not attempt to disassemble or clean around any burner while another burner is on An electric shock may result which could cause you to knock over hot cookware In case of a power failure you can light the surface burners on your range with a match Hold a lighted match to the burner then turn the knob to the LITE position Use extreme caution when lighting burners this way Surface burners in use when an electrical power failure occurs will continue to operate normally e Be sure the burners and grates are cool before you place your hand a pot holder cleaning cloths or other materials on them continued next page 9 do 4007 uosreduro V taw C gt g A S S a fa SURFACE COOKING continued Top of Range Cookware Aluminum Medium weight cookware is recommended because it heats quickly and evenly Most foods brown evenly in an aluminum skillet Use saucepans with tight fitting lids when cooking with minimum amounts of water Cast Iron If heated slowly most skillets will give satisfactory results Enamelware Under some conditions the enamel of some cookware may melt Follow cookware manufacturer
