CRATE S20XL GUITAR AMPLIFIER We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for selecting a Crate product and to tell you of our commitment to the design and manufacture of only the finest musical instrument amplifica tion equipment built for you the musician You have purchased one of the most Innovative sound amplifi cation devices available today Your Crate amplifier gives you more performance features than ever before features that you the musician have asked for Your Crate amplifier is an American product manufactured at our factory In St Louis Missouri Only the finest available com ponents and materials are used In the manufacture of each amplifier Alll Crate amplifiers are subject to seven or more Inspection and testing steps to assure you of a high quality product The final test for each amp Is conducted by a trained musician with the Instrument the amp was designed for Any unit that does not meet the standards of his discriminating ear will not be passed Since all Crate products are designed developed and manufac tured through the cooperative efforts of engineers and profes slonal musicians the end result Is a product that responds to the musician s audio requirements and a product that will serve your needs for years to come OPERATION FRONT PANEL FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS 1 INPUT JACK This input accepts a standard 1 4 phone plug and Is sult able for any low to line level signal

4. e of the sound MID CONTROL The amount of midrange tone is set using this control Low settings thin out the sound while higher settings can give a fatter sound This control is especially useful while using the SCG channel 10 LOW CONTROL bass The amount of bottom or warmth may be 9 Increased or decreased with this knob 11 BRIGHT SWITCH This switch affects the brilliance of the guitar s sound by adding additional bite or sharpness This switch affects both channels 12 REVERB CONTROL This control allows the player to alter the apparent acoustical qualities of a room The sound can be adjusted from very flat or dry to that of a concert hall 13 LINE OUT JACK This jack is used to link the G 20XL to additional amplifiers or to connect the amp to a tape recorder Simply run a cable from the output of this jack to the input of another amplifier or tape deck External speakers cannot be hooked up to this jack 14 HEADPHONE JACK Unpowered headphones may be plugged into this Jack Plugging headphones into this Jack disconnects the internal speaker so the output of the amplifier will be heard only through the headphones 15 POWER LED INDICATOR The amplifier is on when led is lit 16 POWER SWITCH This is a two posi tion switch pressing the right side of the switch turns the unit on and the left side turns the unit off REAR PANEL FEATURES POWER C
5. source such as an electric gultar SCG Sequential Cascading Gains SEC TION 2 GAIN CONTROL The amount of 4 overdrive in the SCG channel is deter mined by the gain control s settings This control works In conjunction with the volume control 7 LEVEL CONTROL The overall vol ume of the SCG channel is controlled with this knob and has no effect on the normal channel section SHAPE CONTROL This is the overall tone control for the SCG section When turned to the left a setting with heavy emphasis on mid range Is achieved When rotated right the amp creates a fat sound with extra boost on lows and highs SCG CHANNEL SELECT SWITCH This SCG channel Is the maximum gain channel and Is typically used for an overdrive sound It Is selected by push Ing this switch In In this position all gain and tone controls are active The Out position selects the lower gain normal channel It should be used for the cleanest sound 6 FOOTSWITCH JACK This jack is to be used with the channel selector re verb footswitch When this is used the SCG channel select switch 5 is inac tive NORMAL CHANNEL SECTION 7 VOLUME CONTROL This control sets the overall listening level of the normal channel It must also not be at zero for the SCG channel to function 8 HIGH CONTROL treble This knob affects the upper harmonic range of the guitar clockwise higher settings increase the crispness or bit
