3. product or replacement thereof including parts at the sole discretion of American DJe All products covered by this war ranty were manufactured after January 1 1990 and bear identifying marks to that effect E American DJe reserves the right to make changes in design and or improvements upon its products without any obligation to include these changes in any products theretofore manufactured F No warranty whether expressed or implied is given or made with respect to any acces sory supplied with products described above Except to the extent prohibited by applicable law all implied warranties made by American DJe in connection with this product includ ing warranties of merchantability or fitness are limited in duration to the warranty period set forth above And no warranties whether expressed or implied including warranties of merchantability or fitness shall apply to this product after said period has expired The consumer s and or Dealer s sole remedy shall be such repair or replacement as is expressly provided above and under no circumstances shall American DJe be liable for any loss or damage direct or consequential arising out of the use of or inability to use this product G This warranty is the only written warranty applicable to American DJ Products and supersedes all prior warranties and written descriptions of warranty terms and conditions heretofore published H All lamps and fuses are not covered under this
4. ct only to the American DJe factory All shipping charges must be pre paid If the requested repairs or service including parts replacement are within the terms of this warranty American DJe will pay return shipping charges only to a designated point within the United States If the entire instrument is sent it must be shipped in its original package No accessories should be shipped with the product If any accessories are shipped with the product American DJe shall have no liability whatsoever for loss of or damage to any such accessories nor for the safe return thereof C This warranty is void if the serial number has been altered or removed if the product is modified in any manner which American DJ concludes after inspection affects the reli ability of the product if the product has been repaired or serviced by anyone other than the American DJe factory unless prior written authorization was issued to purchaser by American DJe if the product is damaged because not properly maintained as set forth in the instruction manual D This is not a service contract and this warranty does not include maintenance cleaning or periodic check up During the period specified above American DJe will replace defec tive parts at its expense and will absorb all expenses for warranty service and repair labor by reason of defects in material or workmanship The sole responsibility of American DJ under this warranty shall be limited to the repair of the
5. l returned service items whether under warranty or not must be freight pre paid and accompany a return authorization R A number If the unit is under warranty you must provide a copy of your proof of purchase invoice Please contact American DJe customer support for a R A number Warranty Registration Ruby Star Caution Always replace with the exact same type fuse unless oth erwise specified by an authorized American DJe technician Use of a different type fuse from that which is recommended may cause fire or electric shock and will void the manufactures warranty Fuse Replacement Warning lf you continue to blow fuses STOP using the unit Contact customer support for further instructions you may have to return the unit for servicing Continuing to use the unit may cause serious dam age Fuse Replacement Disconnect the unit s main power supply Use a flat head screw drive to pry out the fuse holder When the fuse holder is exposed remove the old fuse and replace it with a similar one The fuse holder comes with a slot for a spare fuse When replacing and checking the fuse be sure to check the fuse that has the metal ends completely exposed American DJ www americandj com Ruby Star Instruction Manual Page 3 Ruby Star Specifications VISIBLE LASER RADIATION AVOID DIRECT EYE EXPOSURE LASER DIODE WAVELENGTH 635 650 nm Max Output lt 4 9mW Class Illa Laser Product Safety Issues This unit
6. may blow a fuse if the maximum allotted load of 2 amps 1 amp 220v is reached e To reduce the risk of electrical shock or fire do not expose this unit rain or moisture Do not spill water or other liquids into or on to your unit Do not attempt to remove or break off the ground prong from the electrical cord This prong is used to reduce the risk of electrical shock and fire in case of an internal short Do not attempt to oper ate this unit if the power cord has been frayed or broken Disconnect from main power before making any type of connection Do not remove the cover under any conditions There are no user serviceable parts inside Always be sure to mount this unit in an area that will allow proper ventilation Allow about 6 15cm between this device and a wall e Do not attempt to operate this unit if it becomes damaged This unit is intended for indoor use only use of this product out doors voids all warranties During long periods of non use disconnect the unit s main power Always mount this unit in safe and stable matter Power cords should be routed so they are not likely to be walked on pinched by items placed upon or against them Cleaning The fixture should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer See page 6 for cleaning details Heat The appliance should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators heat registers stoves or other appliances including amplifiers that produce heat e The fixture sh
7. ob in a counterclockwise direction will decrease the units sensitivity Turning the knob com pletely to the counter clockwise direction will turn off the sound active mode Ruby Star Cleaning Fixture Cleaning Due to fog residue smoke and dust cleaning the external lenses should be carried out periodically to optimize light output 1 Use normal glass cleaner and a soft cloth to wipe down the out side casing 2 Clean the external optics with glass cleaner and a soft cloth every 20 days 3 Always be sure to dry all parts completely before plugging the unit back in Cleaning frequency depends on the environment in which the fixture operates l e smoke fog residue dust dew In heavy use we rec ommend cleaning on a monthly basis Periodic cleaning will ensure longevity and crisp beam output American DJ www americandj com Ruby Star Instruction Manual Page 6 Ruby Star Warranty 90 DAY LIMITED WARRANTY A American DJ hereby warrants to the original purchaser American DJ products to be free of manufacturing defects in material and workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase This warranty shall be valid only if the product is purchased within the United States of America including possessions and territories It is the owner s respon sibility to establish the date and place of purchase by acceptable evidence at the time service is sought B For warranty service send the produ
8. ould be serviced by qualified service personnel when A The power supply cord or the plug has been damaged B Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the unit C The unit has been exposed to rain or water D The unit does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance American DJ www americandj com Ruby Star Instruction Manual Page 4 Ruby Star Control amp Functions 1 Audio Sensitivity Knob This adjust audio sensitivity of the internal microphone 2 Turning the sensitivity knob in the clockwise direction will increase the sensitivity to sound Turning the knob in the counter clockwise direction will decrease the fixture s sensitivity to sound If the Knob is turned completely in the counter clockwise direction the sound sensitivity function will turn off 2 Microphone This microphone receives external low frequencies to trigger the unit in Sound Active mode This microphone is designed to receive low frequency sounds only tapping on the microphone and high pitch sounds may not trigger the unit 3 Power Cord Connection This connection is used to supply main power to the fixture Use only the supplied I E C power cord Be sure the main power matches the required power of your fixture The rated power requirements are clearly marked on the rear panel of the unit 4 Fuse Holder This housing stores the 2 amp GMA protective fuse Always replace with the exact
9. same type fuse unless otherwise instructed by an authorized American DJe service technician American DJe www americandj com Ruby Star Instruction Manual Page 5 Ruby Star Operation Power Supply This unit is available in either 120v or 220v option Before plugging your unit in be sure the source voltage in your area matches the required voltage for your American DJe Ruby Star Please refer to the power lable on the rear panel of the unit General Operation This fixture is designed to operate as a stand alone unit The Ruby Star is ready to be plugged in out of the box There is no power switch after plugging the unit in a power outlet the laser will immediately begin to cycle through the many built in pat terns provided there is an ample amount of sound to trigger the unit The unit comes with several built in patterns that automatically cycle through when the unit is operating the patterns may not be selected manually If the unit does not turn on after the unit has been plugged in be sure the fuse has not blown and the unit is properly plugged in to a matching wall outlet If problem continue to persist please con tact customer support for further instructions Sensitivity Knob A sound sensitivity knob is located on the rear of the unit Use this knob to regulate the amount of sound it takes to trigger the unit Turning the knob in a clockwise direction will increase the units sensitivity to sound turning the kn
