Driver Installation Windows 2000 XP Server 2003 1 When the Found New Hardware wizard appears on the screen insert the Driver CD into your CD ROM drive If you are prompted to connect to Windows Update please select the No not this time option and click Next 2 Select the option Install Drivers Automatically Recommended and then click the Next button 3 Windows should now start searching for the drivers Once this has completed click the Finish button Windows Vista 1 When the Found New Hardware window appears on the screen click on the Locate and install drivers software recommended option If prompted to search online select the Don t search online option 2 When prompted to insert the disc insert the Driver CD that came with the card into your CD ROM drive and Windows will automati cally proceed to search the CD 3 If a Windows Security dialog window appears click the Install this driver software anyway option to proceed 4 Once the driver is installed click the Close button Verifying Installation From the main desktop right click on My Computer Computer in Vista then select Manage In the new Computer Management window select Device Manager from the left window panel Double click on the SCSI and RAID Controllers or Storage Controllers in Vista option A Silicon Image card should appear under this category SE E SteelVine Manager Ins2. 5 Plug in the power adapter and press the power button on the front 6 Press the SYS reset button on the unit to make sure it s configured for the proper mode 7 Plug in the USB or eSATA cable and the connect the other end to the computer system StarTech com Mla eSATA Controller Card Installation S352U2RERC only PEXESATA i e 5 AP a Enable external Set J1 J4 jumpers to pins 1 and 2 eSATA port J1 J4 Enable internal Set J1 J4 jumpers to pins 2 and 3 SATA port There are two SATA ports available on the PEXESATA1 card one internal SATA and one external eSATA Please note that only one of them will work at a time Using the jumper settings provided above please designate which port is to be used By default Port 2 internal is set to active 1 Turn your computer off and any peripherals connected to the computer ie Printers external hard drives etc Unplug the power cable from the rear of the power supply on the back of the computer 2 Remove the cover from the computer case 3 Locate an open PCI Express slot and remove the metal cover plate on the rear of the computer case Note that this card will work in PCI Express slots of additional lanes ie x4 x8 or x16 slots 4 Insert the card into the open PCI Express slot and screw the bracket to the rear of the case StarTech com 5 Place the cover back onto the computer 6 Insert the power cable into the socket on the power supply
